Specialties

The Lamp Liter is located on U.S.6 just west of Ottawa IL. Its an exotic dance club, with talented dancers and a staff that’s quick with a joke. Established in 1971, it has ridden the tide of controversy and landed on its feet as a small, cozy, and friendly place where people love to party. Come on out and visit us. But, bring your ID because you MUST BE 21.

History

Established in 1971.

Established by Nick & Helen Mangiaracina in 1971. Helen’s son, Kevin Steder, began managing the bar in 1995, and became part owner after Nick’s passing in 2012. This club has hosted many famous dancers, including fan dancer, Sally Rand.

The business always paid their dancers as entertainers — but the State of Illinois forced them to stop this practice in 2012 and charge them for the privilege of dancing as is the practice of other clubs. To minimize the impact, the dancers are charged the minimal fee of $ 1 per day.

Unlike similar clubs, the Lamp Liter also has a pool table, dart machine, and big screen TV for televised sporting events. They expect to have a few video gaming machines in late 2013.
