History

Established in 1962.

In 1962, Switzerland of America Jeep Rentals was founded by it’s first owner, in part, to help support the museum located in the adjacent Western Hotel, and because of his own love of ‘Jeeping’ the trails. The company offered folks the opportunity to rent a Jeep and follow a guide into the San Juan Mountains. In the early 80’s, group tours began to be offered in custom-​built tour vehicles to accommodate those folks that just wanted to sit back, relax, and let someone else do the driving. The tradition continues today with both Jeep Rentals and Guided 4×4 Tours. Our enthusiasm over helping visitors enjoy the mountains has only grown since we have so many more exciting Jeep adventures to offer!

Business Owner

Robert and Brandy are the current owners of Switzerland of America, Inc. Jeeping was always at the heart of family vacations in the San Juan Mountains. And, in 2007, they had the incredible opportunity to move to the area full-​time and become a part of the Switzerland of America tradition. Their favorite aspect of owning the business is sharing the magic and beauty of the surrounding mountains with folks far and wide, some of whom have been visiting Ouray for generations, and others whom are visiting for the very first time. They love what they do!
