The Windows 10 update destroyed my HP and today’s experience at the Microsoft store was only a reminder of why 90% of my devices are Apple products. Microsoft… get with the program. Thankfully I called ahead of time to reconfirm my appointment which they find out was never submitted. When I showed up to the store is when they decided to tell me they weren’t sure if they could reset the computer in order to fix the issue instead of telling me over the phone the 45 minutes prior to ask if this could be done. After 90 minutes of waiting on them they told me they were still working on it and if I could wait another 30 minutes. I’m sure the workers are knowledgable but obviously lack common sense. Thank you Overland Park Microsoft Store for wasting nearly 2 hours of my day when this could have been avoided by a simple phone call.

I like the layout of the store. It was busy, but not cramped and chaotic like similar stores. The staff was helpful and asked me first if I needed help versus me having to find someone. They were also knowledgeable about their products. I’ll definitely be back.

I bought a Surface Pro 2 when they first came out, about July of 2014. Thanksgiving week of 2015 it locked up and could not be started. I had purchased an extended warranty, thank goodness. They replaced it with a Surface 3. It lasted about one month. They shipped that one to some place and I received a replacement in a few days. It lasted twenty four hours and failed while I was in the Overland Park store getting help setting it up. I would give the people in the store a five star rating, but MS’ warranty replacement a zero star rating. If they are going to hand out rebuilds as warranty replacements they should be ones that work. I feel like I got two that had been returned under warranty by someone else and never repaired before I got them. The staff at the store was very patient and as helpful as they could be. They are five stars in my book. I ended up using a credit from the warranty to purchase a HP laptop. It is ok, but I preferred the Surface. But $ 1,200 for fourteen months of service is too pricy.

I cracked my screen to my Surface returned it to the big box guys, which they sent me a re-furbished one with a corrupted hard drive, after already losing 2 weeks without my surface, I took it to the Microsoft store in Overland Park. We were greeted right away and was offered something to drink. They replaced my Surface within minutes and I’m back up running. It’s nice to know customer service isn’t lost within corporate America. I would definitely go back and recommend this store and their employees.

Great experience with this store and the staff. Matt, a store manager, helped get an issue with my surface pro3 dealt with quickly. I came in without an appointment and was worked right in. Everyone I encountered spoke English and was very knowledgeable. Staff was friendly and attentive. Given what most tech support experiences are now like this store earns an A+.

I think all Microsoft stores are the same… I have been in the Bellevue WA one and in Plaza las Americas. The staff was super nice, knowledgeable and friendly. My daughter and nephew tried some surfaces and the games. My sister had some questions and they took care of it. Great experience! Thank you.

Great customer service, great products, great. Had a problem with my Surface Pro 3 pen scratching the screen 1.5 months after I got it. They reproduced the issue and then promptly set me up with a new one. I’m ecstatic that I didn’t go to one of the large chain stores.

Did you see those first iPhone knock offs way back when. The ones that came out just months after the iPhone was released. Their screens looked just like the iPhone screen… right up until you tried to use it. And discovered it lacked most of the features, and what it did have barely worked. The combination of being a blatant knock off AND copied so badly making them seem rather sad… Now imagine that sad seeming knock off being something that was not really even needed in the first place… and that there was no reason to need to copy. I give you the Microsoft Store! If you have recently been in an Apple store then you could be forgiven for assuming that is where you are when you walk in to this place. Other than the logo on the wall there are only two notable differences. 1. The Microsoft Store is not burdened with those pesky crowds clogging up the joint. 2. The staff are pretty much all teenagers who are not very knowledgeable on the products. Most just have the cursory high level marketing speak to regurgitate to you. And there are plenty of them around to do that. Even during the Christmas rush there were three employees standing around for every customer. See #1. So not exceptionally impressive execution, but the thing that still stands out to me the most is WHY? Why have a Microsoft store? There are not exactly a lack of places to by Windows PC’s or buy a copy of windows or office. So why build your own outlet store to effectively compete with your self. And then why so blatantly copy your main competitor’s stores to do it? It just gives your competitor legitimacy.

Very few employees to ask questions, some stood around outside watching little kids play games. Store is crowded with tables, not much walking room. One employee I talked to told me that he didn’t know much about 7 and said i thould ask the manager. The manager was out to lunch according to 2 employees, and was apparently on vacation according to other employees. I asked about some software differences to a couple employees and they said that 7 had less errors than XP. None of them asked me if I wanted to make a purchase, and a couple employees leaned over some tables to talk to me.

If you need a new PC: go here. Two words: Microsoft Signature. Every PC sold from their store is first sent directly to Microsoft where it is reimaged; removing all trial-ware, optimizing its performance, installing all essential software for you(including the best anti-virus I have ever used), and making sure everything is up to date. In a nutshell, these PCs come out of the box running at full steam, saving you the hassle of updating and configuring a new machine yourself. If you’re not tech-savvy, this is an incredible added value. Aside from the store being aesthetically beautiful, with video walls wrapping around the entire sale’s floor and a clean, modern layout, this place is a services haven. Where else can you simply walk up to a Microsoft certified technician and get your questions answered without an appointment or paying out of pocket? They offer personal training services to suite a variety of different needs, and take small business solutions and services seriously. Of course they also diagnose and fix computer issues, give IT support, and all that fun stuff. If you haven’t gotten to play with a Windows Phone yet, go now and ask for a demo. They will blow your mind. I don’t know how I ever lived without mine. Sure the software selection is skimpy if you walk in expecting a library, but who buys software in a store anymore? Almost anything can be purchased and downloaded entirely online from the comfort of your home office. Instead of wasting precious floor space with tons of software titles most people won’t ever need, they smartly use the space to display more hardware, game stations and peripherals. Frankly, I don’t need to see 10,000 software titles as much as I need to poke all the newest PCs and demo the newest Xbox games before I buy. The laptop selection is amazing and runs from very inexpensive, all the way up to «boutique» level laptops that you’re not likely going to find on display anywhere else. Plenty of slates, a few desktops and all-in-ones at multiple price points. I can’t wait for the Microsoft Surface to come in. Now I am rambling. Love.
