They set the bar and then exceed all expectations! My car was making a noise that I put off until I (lazy I know) decided to do something about. I called them first thing in the morning and explained to them the situation and the told me to bring it and drop it off for them to work in.
I dropped off around 8, to an incredibly and overwhelmed and busy shop. With at least 10 cars in front of me I wasn’t expecting to hear from them for at least a day; the owner called at 12:30! Whenever anything changed with the status of the car, price, etc the owner called me himself, every time. Every time the owner called he took the time to thoroughly explain the process and parts, and answered all my questions.
My car was done by 5, the same day! This might have been the least painful auto repair experience I’ve ever had!

Drove in from Colorado last night, car would not start this morning called Joe at Quest, gave me a tow company that was at my car in 15min and Joe got me in on busy Saturday morning with no appt. repaired our car in less then two hours and VERY reasonable plus pointed out times for me to address when back in Colorado. Joe did us a solid! Zach came to pick me up as well and brought me to the shop saving me cab fare! Shout out to Zach. people are lucky to have a honest shop in the area! Do not go anywhere else, go see Joe at Quest!

Adding to the awesome ratings for this auto service shop! Joe educated us on likely issues of our truck problem, gave us an initial estimate, and then got the job done with a fair price within a few hours. My boyfriend does a lot of work on our vehicles, but this issue was beyond him. After my experience today, Quest will be my go-​to for any other issue my boyfriend can’t fix or doesn’t have time for!!! Thanks, Quest!

I just got into town after a 16 hour road trip and experienced a sort of rattling noise when I was breaking. I took it here because the reviews were good and was greeted with great customer service, patience and a positive attitude. Turns out something had gotten kicked up into the car and actually didn’t take any work. Wasn’t charged a dime. These guys are honest and quick in returning your car. I’d reccomend them and will be going back

There are not enough accurate words to describe how wonderful the team at Quest is. Joe has made every bit of owning a car a dream! I am on the road a lot and knowing Joe and his team has looked over my car and kept me in tip top shape is so reassuring.
From repairs, maintenance to prevention there is no one else like Quest.

If I had written this review before today, I would have given Quest a significantly higher rating. I had my wheel bearings replaced (in desperate need) and was very happy with customer service (cost was around $ 650). Immediately after I got the car back, I noticed a «humming or rubbing» and could feel a vibration in my feet. We took the car back in immediately the next day. I was told that my car was so loud before (from the bad wheel bearings), this noise had probably always been there. (My car is a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with 150,000 miles and has had extremely little problems overall.) I disagreed with this statement but he did not charge me to look at it, and assured me there was «absolutely no safety concern».
After traveling to another state the next day (several hours), I took the car in to my extended family’s mechanic because the humming still concerned me. It had not gotten any worse, but it just felt off. Our family mechanic immediately found the wheel bearing that had just been installed was bad. Quest had the wheel bearing under warranty (we contacted them after learning this information), so my family mechanic installed a new bearing and only charged us for labor and diagnostics (about $ 90 and $ 45 respectively). Quest assured us (through phone communication) that they would reimburse us for the costs. Immediately the humming/​rubbing sound was gone. Our mechanic also mentioned that this could have been a HUGE safety issue had we not gotten it fixed.
When my husband took the bill into Quest as agreed upon, he was told he would only be reimbursed for the labor portion ($ 90) because that was covered under warranty. The owner was adamant about not reimbursing the remaining money ($ 45) even though his company installed the wheel bearing and didn’t find the issue when we gave him a chance to fix it. My husband and I felt like the agreement had been to pay all costs related to the wheel bearing.
Quest lost our business over $ 45. I feel as though my concerns were not taken seriously, and I feel as though I can not trust what this shop has to say (specifically about safety concerns). I felt I gave them adequate opportunities to right the situation (especially after spending a significant amount of money), but I would not recommend this shop and will not return.

I brought my car in today because I slid in the bad weather and thought I needed new tires. They looked at my tires and said they were in good condition and the owner said he didn’t want to sell me tires since they still have life in them. The other employee I talked to also said if they were his tires, he wouldn’t replace them. The owner and employees talked me through the issue thoroughly and gave me a lot of advice about what to do in the future. I am so impressed with the level of customer service they showed, rather than just accepting the hundreds of dollars I was willing to pay! I won’t be taking my car anywhere else but here from now on.
I’ve brought my car in twice before for oil changes and they recognize me when I come in. They know other repeat customers by name and the interactions I’ve overheard always seem polite and helpful. I would recommend this shop to anyone.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR CAR! BEWARE!!! Looking for as much money out of me as he could get. Do not recommend.
I had 250k plus on my Toyota 4Runner. Took it in for regular oil changes and always had other fluids checked when I lived in my home town. I moved, and work in Overland Park now. Never had any issues with the car. Anyone with a Toyota, and in particular, a 4runner can attest to the reliability. I needed an oil change and I figured a coolant exchange, as I noticed there was gunk in my reservoir. This place had good reviews and it was close to work. I figured I had a great mechanic on my hands, but I was called 4 or 5 times throughout the day. I was told I needed to replace my air filter, I did, needed to replace my wipers, I did. I needed to replace the exhaust, which I declined given the mileage on the car, the utter uselessness of the repair, and the cost of it. Also, he offered me 4 tires that I bought for 250 dollars less elsewhere, labor included!
Back to his money grubbing… His words were «did you notice how loud your car was running?» It was not running loud. No louder than any other car, it was fine. My car was great before this place. My car would have ran at least another 100,000 miles if I would have just drained, then added coolant and done the oil changes myself. At least 25,000 no attention paid to it! I just didn’t have the time. I’m kicking myself! For trusting this place and for not doing things myself. Simple maintenance is all I wanted. Less than a week later, and maybe 250 miles, my car over heated. With No indication! My gauges were normal. My thermostat was «great» according to this guy. I had even mentioned I thought my car may have been running too hot at times, regardless of what the gauges read, because I am not auto-​illiterate. I wanted to be sure that it was ok. Guess it wasn’t? And/​or Guess I was right. This guy wants whatever he can get out of people. He’ll try to sell you on something and if you don’t buy, beware! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I hate to think that someone would sabotage something intentionally but it’s not out of the question, here. I didn’t spend enough with him. I will forever think twice about taking my car anywhere that I don’t personally know the mechanic because of this place. I wouldn’t even give it one star if I could. Joe is a blowhard who runs his business off of idiots with no knowledge that he can take advantage of, via price, and unnecessary add-​ons. LOOKING FOR MONEY! STAY AWAY!

I can’t say enough about the owner Joe P. He truly tries to help you, and give you the most fair deal he possibly can. His automotive knowledge is unparalleled, and his and his shop’s attention to detail and focus on quality is tops in KC.
I had a drivers side mirror replaced on a Honda Pilot. While Honda dealerships could not get me in for 10 days not to mention a part for atleast an additional week, Quest had me in and the mirror fixed 4 days from the date I called. I called on a Saturday afternoon and had my car ready Tuesday morning, so literally in 2 business days I was good to go.

Great experience with these guys so far. They’re just around the corner so it’s nice to have such a great shop within walking distance.
I sold auto parts for a few years and in the process dealt with a lot of shops. After talking with Joe and his son a few times, I’m confident that this is a place that knows what they’re doing and aren’t out to make a quick buck.
I’ve got some big repairs that need done in the near future and I’m definitely planning on using Quest.

Wasn’t impressed. In 2013 I brought my car here to get breaks fixed and spent around $ 700. I felt a little weary about my experience, like I may have been ripped off but at the time I was desparate. A few weeks ago when my car wasn’t starting, I decided to give this place another try. After inspecting my car ($ 76) they informed me that my starter needed to be changed, the total including the inspection would be around $ 380. I ended up taking my car to another shop, bought the starter for my car for under $ 100 at advanced auto parts and had them change it for half the price. Total came out to $ 160. Definitely would be wise to look for a second opinion before getting your car worked on here!
UPDATE*** My car was still having problems on and off after I got a new starter and it actually ended up dying on me on the side of the road. My dad took a look under the hood and come to find out a plug connected to the starter was COMPLETELY corroded. My dad fixed the problem and my car has had NO problems since. NOW I’M JUST TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHY I PAID THIS PLACE $ 76 FOR AN INSPECTION WHEN THIS WAS SUCH A CLEAR/​EASY PROBLEM TO FIX AND THEY DIDN’T SAY A WORD ABOUT IT. The employees failed to do their job, they either didn’t know what they were doing or wanted some extra money. DO NOT COME HERE!!!

Just the best car service place ever; Joe and his team will take care of you and never try and upcharge you or tell you your car needs something repaired that it doesn’t. As a single female it can be challenging to trust car repair shops but Joe makes sure I understand everything and he doesn’t try to replace things my car doesn’t need making for a very reasonable bill every time.

Had timing belt fixed at Quest. Joe was pleasant, thorough and knowledgable. Got the work done promptly. After picking up the car and starting it, I heard a loud clanging engine noise for 20 seconds, then the noise subsided. I’m the original owner of the car and never heard that noise before. Here’s what bothered me. Joe mentioned other things the car needed while I was paying but never commented about hearing the loud engine noise. I asked him about the noise when I got home and he said the tech and he had heard it in the garage and thought it could be normal for my car. Then he mentioned It could be low oil pressure during a cold start. It was 60 degrees. He seemed to be busy and I felt like he was brushing off my concern. I expected him to say to bring it back and they’d check it out but that didn’t happen. I’ve had the car a week and haven’t heard the noise return. I hope everything turns out ok. If so, I’ll give them another chance.

I have been hunting for a new (to me) car for the last couple of weeks. Unless it is from a family member or close friend I do not buy a used car without having it thoroughly inspected by a non biased third party professional.
I have a few features that the car I pick must have, which complicated the search. I probably called Joe and rescheduled this inspection at least 8 times. Joe never gave me any trouble about it at all, and even spent time with me on the phone answering questions and giving advise about what to stay away from, so I wasn’t bringing a bunch of different cars in for the inspection. He acknowledged that the rescheduling and changing of plans for pre-​purchase inspection is very normal and not unreasonable.
I brought a Honda Accord in today and his tech gave it a thorough inspection, followed by him looking at noted parts personally. Given what Joe thought was an appropriate offer for me to make on the car with what it should have done before to long and what the seller was dead set on getting, I did not buy this car. I will be brining the next possible vehicle to Quest as well. They are friendly and Joe is the type of business owner who is also out on the shop floor and staying in the know about how things are going. He is also the type that you could trust with your life to be honest about what repairs need to be done ASAP and what should be done in the near future, without tacking on extra work to increase your bill.

We had a great mechanic for years at a Midas until one day we went in and he was gone. We were told he retired or that he went to work elsewhere. We continued to go to Midas but their work went downhill quickly so we avoided the mechanic altogether aside from oil changes. Needed maintenance backed up on our 3 cars. I turned to Unilocal and saw all the great reviews of Quest.
It is hard to try a new mechanic because you are trusting them with a large asset and your transportation to work! We took our son’s old beater car and they got it fixed and ready to go. So, we took our other 2 cars there too. They are extremely honest – MOST important. Will tell you what needs to be done today, later and what is necessary for safety.
So happy here at my new mechanic.

I am so happy and grateful to have found my new Auto Service Shop. When I moved to the Kansas City area from Topeka a year ago, I left behind an auto shop that I thought I could never replace. They were friendly, honest, timely, and reliable. In fact, I have driven to Topeka to have my car worked on a couple of times, because I didn’t want to take my chances on a shop in Kansas City.
Last week, my car would not start. I got it jumped and drove it home. It would not start the next morning. I did an online search for auto shops in my area. When I read the reviews for Quest Auto Service, it was as though the reviewers were talking about my auto shop in Topeka that I love so much. I called and talked to Joe. He told me that when I got it jumped I could drive it straight there and they would take a look at it. Later, I called again to see if he had a recommendation for a company who would come out and jump my car. Both times that I called, Joe was very friendly and didn’t make me feel as though I was bothering him or that he was in a rush to get off the phone.
When I got my car to the shop, Joe knew immediately who I was and greeted me by name. He had my car inside within 2 minutes of me getting there and told me what the issue was within 10 minutes. While my car was being taken care of, I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Joe about his business. It is very obvious from this conversation and my own experience, that Joe is committed to customer service and quality auto care. He also made it clear that his shop stands behind its work.
I have found my new auto shop and highly recommend it to others!

Quest Auto is a local treasure.
Joe is helpful & friendly, and remembers the phone conversation you had last week when you walk in the door. He’ll tell you what needs to be done, what you can put off, and how long you are likely to be able to safely put it off. He’ll explain why a needed procedure is relatively expensive («the fuel filter is actually located inside the gas tank, so we need to replace the ring & gasket too any time we change it,») but he won’t dumb it down in a condescending way. He’ll give you a fair price, call you back promptly when he says he will, and will have the work done in a timely way. He will have someone give you a lift to & from your work or home if it’s reasonably local, should you need that.
Good service is always great — but good, honest, timely service from an auto shop to a single woman is something that makes me want to jump up & dance with joy. Do you think I will ever take my car anywhere else now?

Back in Sept of 2012, my brakes had been making some funky thumping noises, coupled with some odd «shimmying» of the steering wheel when braking, and that made me seriously uncomfortable, so I figured it was time. :) Tired of dealing with the run-​around from the Acura dealership (inflated rates, pressure to have maintenance done that could actually wait, etc.), I found Quest Auto Service via Unilocal and decided to call and get quotes on new brakes and alignment. I was honest with Joe and told him that I didn’t know much about brake pads (if I even needed two or four — ha!) and he was very kind and explained everything and what my options would be, but not in a condescending way.
When I dropped my car off the next morning for service, he was really nice and down-​to-​earth. They offered to give me a ride to work (but my mom had already arranged to meet me, so that wasn’t needed — but a great option for the future). He called a few hours later to tell me what they had found and recommended doing, and that I actually didn’t need to replace two of the four brake pads — they still had some life left. I was impressed by this because, had they been a «shady» shop, they could have just said that all four needed replacement and replaced all four and I never would have known the difference.
When I got there to pick up my car, he took me into the shop to take a look at the brake pads they’d removed. I thought this was a nice, personal touch (although it didn’t really mean much to me because I don’t know what they are supposed to look like either way!). Joe is really kind and treated me like a friend, with respect. I haven’t had any issues afterward and I am satisfied with the service and the rates — way cheaper than the Acura dealership! Based on my experience, I would say you can trust that Quest will treat you well and you’ll be happy with the end result. Also, this is a local, family owned business which is always, in my opinion, great to support.

So of course, the day after Christmas it’s 10 degrees and my car won’t start.
After receiving a jump from triple A, I quickly looked up «Auto Repair» near my job in Corporate Woods.
What a find Quest was!
I dropped off the car and offered to walk back to work, as it wasn’t that far and I was bundled up.
They insisted on offering me a ride. Within the hour, I had a quote on the replacement which was fair.
After looking them up on Unilocal to offer a positive review, I see I’m not the only one who’s been pleased by their business. As a result, they will be my go-​to for oil changes, repairs, etc.
