Sheraton Overland Park Hotel at the Convention Center

It’s OK. I stayed here for two nights. It’s a pretty standard business hotel. Nice pool/​gym area. Front desk was helpful, but service can be slow if there’s only one person and several guests needing assistance. Room service was very quick for the one time I ordered breakfast in the morning. Their «starbucks» was closed when I arrived around 10 AM, which was disappointing. Room kinda had a musty smell, but overall it was clean. Wifi was fast, which was needed when I had to work early in morning before heading into office. Parking lot was so full due to a convention going on there at the time, but I always managed to find a space. Not a bad stay for work.

Decent stay. The room was nice and clean but the A/​C was NOT working which was frustrating

This place is awesome. Just to sum up the services they even have a private limo service. Yep had him pick me up at Applebee’s. Felt weird. Anyways Staff is great. Rooms great. Happier in KS then some LV NV rooms.

We attempted to check in around 4:30 on October 7^th. The lady that we spoke with at the desks name was Rachel. She told us that they didn’t have any rooms ready. This was a special occasion for us so we splurged and and went for a fancy room. I asked if she had any idea of when a room would be ready and she left to go find out. While she was gone, the patron standing next to me said that they told her the same thing. Rachel finally comes back and says they don’t know when a room will be ready but she can get us a drink and an appetizer. I asked to speak to a manager, I didn’t get the name of this guy but man was he a smug guy. He acted as if he could of cared less, which I’m sure is true BUT you’re in the hospitality business so you would think he could at least attempt to fake it. He gave me absolutely no idea of how long it would be. He just said that there was a list of people waiting. I asked him how long it takes to clean a room and he said 30 minutes followed by saying that there are 6 people ahead of me. THEN they give the lady standing next to me an «upgraded» room that they somehow found. I told them to forget it and that I wanted my money back. They offered no apologies, nothing. We went to the Marriott around the corner. We have had an awesome stay, our room was upgraded and they at least acted like they wanted our business. I will NEVER stay at a Sheraton.

I really liked this hotel. It is connected with the convention center. I planned on attending the recent quilt convention but when I went to make my reservation, the rooms at the convention rate were sold out.

However, the woman told me to make the reservation and she would send an email asking for me to get the convention rate. (Less than half!) So I did and they did! Wow, great customer service.
Great bed and bathroom. We were able to turn the A/​C down to exactly the meat locker level we like and sleep great.
Customer service from every single employee was terrific. I had a mixup with my door key which was totally my fault. I had a random employee ask me what the problem was, rode the elevator down with me and asked for help for me.
Turns out, I was on the wrong floor. Oops! Everyone acted like it was a total pleasure to help a woman who doesn’t even know what floor her room is on. Now that’s classy!
Restaurant was great and even the coffee bar was extremely accommodating. I was looking for a coffee one night after they had closed and an employee from the bar came over and made me a latte! So impressive!
I would stay here again in a heart beat. But this time, I will learn my floor number!

Spent a night here for a weekend getaway. Great location right next to park place. Beautiful hotel, friendly guest services and bartender. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Very clean room.

Older property most TV channels not HD, bad water pressure in shower, air conditioning does not cool well, no place to pick up sundries, expensive bar as they have a captive audience, nothing near to walk to at all, older beds not so comfortable.

I am sitting in the patio area at the Sheraton Overland Park on a beautiful Friday evening. The sun is setting and it is 71 degrees. There is no staff on duty, no bar or food service, the large TV’s are off (yes the NBA playoffs are happening NOW) and the fire pits are not in operation. I was told by the front desk that hotel management decided not to staff the patio area this evening. It’s a weekend in May, we’re staying in a gorgeous hotel with wonderful amenities not currently available to guests. I do not understand such a poor decision. The hotel is at capacity due to the families in town for a USSSA Baseball Tournament with 600 teams. The indoor bar is packed so full, there is no available seating. The pool area is littered with trash and there aren’t any clean towels for guests. The first impression of the hotel was pulling up to three valets standing and talking amongst themselves while we unloaded our luggage from the trunk. It wasn’t until I walked up and interrupted them, handing one of them my key and a fist full of ones and asked if he could take my car? Based on my experience this evening, I will not be staying at Sheraton Overland Park, nor will it be designated as a «team hotel» for our club baseball organization.

Solid but three stars for it being a relatively old hotel
Pros:
— complimentary bottle of Fuji and Dasani water
— big-​ish TV
— complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body lotion
— lounge area for platinum members at the top floor
— great complimentary breakfast for spg (gold+) or corporate members. Has an omelette station, fresh fruit, small glasses of fruit smoothies, three hot entrée choices (changes every day), bread/​muffins/​bagels/​yogurt
— have always had great service at the front desks
— 500 spg points for every night you go green!
— decent gym (three ellipticals, three treadmills, two cycling stations, weights/​mats, etc
Cons:
— no fridge (costs $ 15/​day if you’d like one added)
— random note: avoid ordering their room service pizza and soup… it’s horrible
— not too many food choices inside hotel and within walking distance of the hotel
— I stayed in a room on the second floor and it was much older and less appealing than the one on 7^th/​11^th floors.
Overall an older hotel but it’s good enough for short term stays.

Stayed over on a business trip to a nearby office.
The best thing about my stay was the level of service from all members of the staff — housekeeping to front desk to restaurant.
Spacious room, nice amenities, hair dryer, free or purchasable water, WIFI, coffee and tea maker in room, very comfortable bed, lots of pillows. I was in the Starwood select guest room.
Dinner at restaurant was great — grilled salmon on spinach salad with strawberries and gruyère cheese which I requested instead of the goat cheese. Nice variety on the wine menu.
There was a convention going on and it was very crowded in the bar and lobby, but the restaurant was nearly empty. One would need a car to drive anywhere else.
Had end of hall corner room with windows on two sides. Positioning of room gave privacy even with curtains open; nice to see the daylight.
But, again, it was the staff who made it outstanding.

This was once a very nice, well-​appointed hotel with attentive, helpful staff. It has deteriorated over the last few years. Room décor is tired and worn. Upholstery in the public areas is visibly dirty. The quality of the food in the lounge for premier customers is poor. Staff are indifferent. We were given a room with a terrible smell and no offer to change rooms because the hotel was full. We were asked whether everything was okay when we checked and when we explained the desk clerk’s response was silence. No apology, nothing. And yet, our stay at this hotel cost over $ 600 for three nights.

Thin walls and lots of noise from the hallway. Parking is a bit odd in the ramp on a lower level. However the hotel was clean and staff was nice.

I also liked that the hotel was busy, but it didn’t seem overcrowded. There was a wedding and conference during out stay but the layout is very good so that regular hotel traffic is in one area away from the events.
Doesn’t hurt that it is close to Town Center off Nail and OP is not far from museums in KC.

We were given a gift certificate/​voucher for a free night at this hotel. Sadly, they would NOT honor it because it had expired! In my opinion, they could have honored it if they wanted to.

Traveled here for an event that one of my children was attending. Arrived late friday on 1/​31, after a long drive, you always have a little bit of trepidation when you walk up to the front desk thoughts like (will they have my reservation, will they give me an upgrade, will they honor my requests all go through your head). Maria Castillo helped me at the front desk and she was wonderful. Simply wonderful. Sheraton please note that the front desk experience heavily influences all of your travelers views on your hotel from the outset.
Maria was professional courteous and handled all of my requests efficiently. Thanks to being a gold member I got and upgrade and I paid slightly more to upgrade further. I left the front desk feeling very optimistic that this day was going to be good and it was, it was very good.
here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
1. Front desk staff, especially Maria Castillo. 5 STARS
2. Club level rooms, spacious well appointed, free waters in the room, nice toiletries
3. Club lounge, breakfast was VERY good, omelets, bacon, muffins, donuts, fruit, juices, oatmeal etc. Open 24 hours with all the soda/​water that you could want. Well worth the upcharge.
4. Fitness center and pool, the fitness center is medium sized, clean and well appointed. there are not a lot of free weights but enough dumbbells for me to get a good work out in. There is a multi function ‘soloflex’ like machine that allows you to hit other muscle groups as well. I like that the fitness center is 24 hours, i hit the gym at 11 on friday after that long drive and it felt great.
5. Management, we arrived at the start of an ice storm, I heard that management extended rooms at their hotel for their employees since the drive home would be treacherous. I respect a hotel that respects and values their employees’ safety.
Cons
1. Have to be honest here but the club lounge attendant on Friday night was NOT nice. She seemed like she did not want my family and I to be up there. Easy for me to ignore but if I was here for longer I would have complained to management.
I am a fan and will stay again. You will be happy if you stay here. Well recommended.

Free Starbucks you brew yourself, but if you drink the bottle of water it’s $ 8. Expensive but not for the only one connected indoors to the convention center in January in KC. Indoor heated pool is big and really warm instead of cold water claiming to be heated. Very friendly staff. We did not have a fridge in our room like the website posted in the amenities. We have two little ones and needed to keep their milk cold. The brought a refrigerator up minutes after just asking and were so nice about it. Good areal view of the city from the 14^th floor. If it were not for the price and the (nickel and dime) ing, I would give it 5 stars.

Hotel is beautiful on the inside. The workout facility is great and the pool/​hot tub are nice also. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating and the bar has great service and was knowledgeable about what they had.
Love the toiletries. The lotion smells like yummy mandarin and the room was spacious and clean. The beds are comfy and blankets plentiful. One of my favorite places to stay for a staycation :)

I was over at the convention center side during the time I was here. Overall its a nice place. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The only bad experience I had was with the hotel side. I wasn’t able to access their business center to print a couple of last minute documents because I was not a guest at the hotel. So it was frustrating that they don’t have a pass for the business center even when I am willing to pay for the time on the computer and pay for the printing and paper. Usually, its available at other hotels. So make sure to print everything ahead of time if you are not a guest at the hotel. Dont depend on this hotel for the business center unless you have a friend staying there.

Nice for a Sheraton. Not that Sheraton is anything like the Ramada Inn by the airport. But you don’t necessarily clap your hands like a seal when you find out your corporate overlords have put you in one instead of a say, W hotel, which you then wet yourself out of excitement.
The rooms are on the nice side of decently large. The king bed is pretty comfy. The pillows are squishy. The shampoo and soap they have is tolerable. The weight room is quite nice for a hotel gym actually. The bar in the lobby is ridiculously overpriced. But they have their own review if you are interested in seeing that.
And if you are hanging out in the lobby at say, 4am, for whatever reason: their security guard is a hot cop. You have to see it for yourself. It is a miracle of science and rent-​a-​cop attractiveness.

I hosted a business event here some time ago and had a really great experience. The staff was very competent and helpful, the venue itself is well-​appointed and lovely.
I really want to go up to the top-​floor restaurant.
