Tabletop Game and Hobby

I am an avid gamer with a HUGE personal collection of RPGs, board and card games. According to my wife, I have a problem.
I make it a point, when I travel, to stop at the local gaming stores and purchase something. If we don’t support local gaming stores, they will not be there…
This store was amazing… The selection was absolutely awesome…
The staff was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. The customers were friendly and lacked the air of geek, desperation and creepiness that you see in many of these stores.
I cannot say enough nice things about this place… if you are in the KC metro area, this is where you need to be shopping.

The selection of games and hobby products is unparalleled in the city, but that’s not the best reason to shop here. Unlike most establishments of its kind (and I’ve visited quite a few across the country), the owner treats the store not as his basement, but as a business. It’s clean, well-​lit, organized, and stocked, and his staff pay the same attention and courtesy to regulars and gamers that they do to first time visitors and parents buying gift certificates for products they may not completely understand. It’s a delight to shop here.

I love this place, the people, the spirit and the stock. Anytime I’m nearby I can’t help but stop in. I got my first set of dice here and most of my sets after. Really a wonderful community.

This is the best game store I’ve ever been in, and I make it a point to hit game stores everywhere I go. Fantastic selection and friendly, extremely knowledgeable staff. Has a huge, well light, clean game room with lots of tables as well as space for painting. It’s pretty much a dream come true for a gamer.

The selection here is better than ever and the game room has plenty of new space. But that’s not the reason I keep coming back.
The employees who work at this store are hands down the nicest, most knowledgeable set of salespeople you are likely to meet. They try their hardest to remember the people that walk through their door and are always willing to crack a joke or two with you. If I ever have to move away from the KC area, one of my regrets will be moving away from this store.

Sure, there are plenty of places in town and online where you can buy games. Even the major book stores carry some of the more popular board and card games these days. For my money, Tabletop is absolutely the best retailer for any game that doesn’t play out on a screen or a grassy field. It’s not just about the selection, which has only grown more incredibly diverse and extensive over the years, but all the other things that make the store a lynchpin of the various gaming communities in the Kansas City area. Phil’s staff really knows their stuff. If you have a question about almost any game on the shelves, somebody there can tell you all about it. If not, chances are good that one of the many loyal regulars hanging out in the AMAZINGLY HUGE game room (I have to start referring to it as a «hall» now) will have your answers. It’s easy to get a demo of more popular games. Just as easy finding somebody willing to try out something more obscure with you. Big events happen all the time, dedicated gatherings for the big minis games, community board game nights, the like. If you decide to get into tabletop gaming and sit down for an afternoon in this place, you will make some solid friends. I will only go elsewhere for my gaming gear if tabletop is closed and it’s a gaming –emergency-.

Wonderful staff and a huge selection of tabletop games and RPGs, been going there for my Warhammer 40k needs for years. A great store!

Love the new space. Always enjoy playing 40K and being able to buy my models and supplies here. They always have a good selection on modeling supplies.

Hands down the nicest and most helpful staff you’d ever want. They will help you find what you are looking for and if you don’t know what you want then they will provide you with great recommendations. If they don’t have it in stock they will order it.
They have an amazing selection. You’ll find every type of game your looking for here. Board games, card games, miniatures, RPGs, they have it all. As well tons of supplies for miniature games.
Finally they have a massive play area with something always going on. If you’re looking for something new you can usually find a friendly game to join our you can rent a game from their rental library.
Oh and be sure to ask for Toe-bias’s business card. :)

Travelled all of the country and many parts of the worlds and this place is my favorite game store. Phil and his staff know their stuff, the place is always spotless and welcoming. I don’t live near it anymore but it will always be my favorite local game store. Do yourself a favor if you need to nerd out and go to tabletop. Highly highly recommended.

Best place in town for table top needs. If they don’t have it they typically can get it or point in the right direction. Wonderful staff.

I’ve been a fan of this store for several years now. I think it’s a shame that all of their positive feedback wasn’t able to move with them to the new location. I’ve only managed one visit since the move, but I’ll tell you this:
1) The game room is even bigger than before.
2) The incredible selection of games may not actually be bigger, but looks that way due to increased shelf space and clear flow of product layout.
3) It’s the same friendly staff as before… including Toebias!
4) Seriously, everything I loved about Tabletop, now with more shiny and a better parking situation.
5) Are you not there yet? Why not?

The most inviting and wonderful atmosphere I could hope for.
Enormous collection, competitively priced (I’m Amazon addicted and only get my games here), and exceptionally friendly staff.
They’re very knowledgeable and were able to help me find just what I was looking for, even when I didn’t have a specific title in mind!
I’ve been meaning to join them for game nights, and can’t wait until my schedule allows for it.
You won’t find a better tabletop shop anywhere in KS/​MO. Thank you guys!

Coming here is like being with a bunch of friends. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and so friendly, not to mention the store cat Toebias. (I mean, who doesn’t love cats?)
Great selection of games, miniatures, dice, etc., and though I have yet to use it the new game room is huge!
Highly recommended.
