Our Dental Office specializes in General, Implant, Cosmetic, Orthodontic and Sleep Sedation Dentistry. We are also one of the few dentists in Ventura County that provide Emergency Care 24 hours a day. Dr. Carson and his staff are a Family Practice dedicated to being pain free, affordable and state of the art. We have a Dental CT scanner, in House Dental Lab with Cerec In Lab for those who want Same Day crowns with out impressions or dental repairs. Other procedures we do are Implant Placement, Periodontal Grafting/​Laser Therapy, Cosmetic work, Braces, Veneer and Wedding Makeovers, Emergency Toothaches 24hr, Extractions, Root Canals, Dentures, Metal Free Crowns/​Bridges, and all other General Dentistry… All of this is done here with or without Sleep Sedation depending on your comfort level. Established in 1972.

Dr. LeRoy K. Carson began his practice in Oxnard, CA in1972. Dr. Carson has been delivering pain free state of the art care for over three generations of our patients. His son Dr. Derek K. Carson joined the practice in 2004 and has continued the tradition of 24 hour emergency care and offers all levels of sedation to his patient who are afraid. A second office in Camarillo was also added in 2007 called Spanish Hills Dentistry. Both Derek and LeRoy Carson believe what makes our office different is having a comfortable atmosphere, being pain free, and giving patients what they are looking for to improve their smile and overall health.

Dr. Carson was born and raised here in Camarillo/​Oxnard area. He attended Rio Mesa High School where he played football and tennis. After recieving a tennis scholarship to college he majored in Biology from Arizona State University 1998. He decided dentistry was his calling followed in his father’s footsteps to continue to serve the Ventura County community. He graduated from one of the top dental schools in the country at UC San Francisco in 2004. Later the next year he earned his license in Conscious IV Sedation Dentistry from USC to better help his patients with dental fear and anxiety. Derek uses the best digital technology to help patients with dental emergencies, reconstruction with dental implants, surgery, and all ceramic crowns/​veneers. You will also find Dr. Carson on the tennis court, gym, and at the park with his dachshund Bella. Dr. Carson takes pride in a family centered, pain-​free, gentle, and friendly patient environment since 1972 in Oxnard and Camarillo.

I’m writing this review because I always check other people’s reviews before considering a business. One of the main reasons I decided to go to Dr. Carson’s office is because he has such good reviews. I brought my daughter in as a new patient to get her annual checkup and cleaning. X-​rays showed she had some cavities, which she was unaware of and were not bothering her. They said they could take care of the cavities and do her cleaning, told us what our co-​payment would be after insurance and we set up an appointment. On the day of her appointment we paid the co-​payment and
Dr. Carson did the work. Six weeks later we get a bill for $ 252 dollars! I thought it was a mistake so I called the office and was told they would find out and would call me back. I never got a call back so I assumed it had been a mistake and they had sorted it out. Three weeks later I get the bill again, so I call the office and they tell me they must have made a mistake in their math somehow when they gave us the pre-​treatment estimate. I told them I didn’t think it was fair that I had to pay for their mistake and they proceeded to tell me I was liable for any money owed them for work performed weather I was aware of it beforehand or not. Two weeks later I call to set up payments and I’m told the person who does that is not in the office and that they’ll call me back. I never got a call back. A few weeks after that I get a letter informing me that if I don’t pay the bill they’ll send it to a collection agency. So I paid the bill. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter how good the Dentist is if the office staff can’t get it together.

You want the friendliest, homely comfort, open arms family-​like, relaxing atmosphere experience you could ever ask for? At a dentist office? Yes! I felt like I was walking into a spa, asking myself if I came to the right place. Greeted by friendly staff, and a soothing waiting area, this place set the bar high for standards at a dentist office. I was impressed with up to date equipment in each office, with each patient getting their own room for their exam or procedures needed. Very comfortable chairs with tvs on the ceiling. My very interesting dentist, Dr. Leroy Carson, was very knowledgeable and made sure you know exactly what was going on and showed in detail with pictures and scans done during my visit. He went above and beyond what any dentist, doctor, or stranger I have ever met to make sure my needs were taken care of and asked for multiple follow ups. It’s going to be hard to find anyone else who will fill his position. Thank you so much, Dr. L. Carson! I couldn’t ask for a better first, or ever, experience than I did with you. You and your wife are just the sweetest couple. Glad to have you as my dentist and friend!

By far the best experience I have received at the dentist. I went in skeptical about what kind of treatment I was going to receive. I was used to other dentist not really explaining everything that needs to get done with my teeth. Dr. Carson (the son) was my dentist and he did a great job and the front office staff was just as good working around my insurance so I can get the most out of my benefits. I referred my girlfriend the very next week and she was seen by Dr. Carson (the dad) and she was very happy with the overall service. I strongly recommend The Carson Family for any dental needs.

I’ve been battling cancer since 2007 which took a toll on my teeth. I’ve been cancer for free for almost 2 years now and I can see the toll cancer & chemo took on my teeth. I’m in need of so much work but with being a newly single mother with all the expenses that goes along with it, I put my dental work aside. One of my front teeth broke on a Saturday afternoon so I started going through Unilocal trying to find a Dds that would take payments or help a mama out in need. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply email ON A WEEKEND of all days. Wow that blew me away and I was thrilled. They set up an appt for me that Monday and it worked with my work/​school schedule. The staff in this office is so nice, the atmosphere in the office is calming and having it be a family business makes it all that much nicer. I will gladly and have already recommend this DDS office.

I had the best Dental experience ever with Dr. Derek Carson. I have never really been a big fan of the dentist but the whole office put me at ease. The sympathy from the front office staff to the extra care of the Doctor to not cause me any unnecessary pain. I feel as though my comfort and peace of mind was taken into consideration before any procedure was done.
He didn’t bully his way into work but took a slower more cautious approach and explained each step as it was conducted. I entered this facility an hour ago with what I would rate as 9 out of 10 pain where I had to pull over during the drive over just to apply pressure. Now I feel like a brand new man and I don’t have a small tooth changing my mindset on my day.
I can’t thank the staff and Dr. Carson enough for taking me out of Pain Town and straight into Smileville, USA…
I recommend C&C Dental to all of my friends and family… Thanks Dr. Carson!!!

Not sure what happened to my review written a few weeks ago, so here’s another one:
The bottom line is that the Dr.‘s Carson, a father and son team, know their stuff inside and out. Look at all the glowing reviews on Unilocal,google, and demand-​force. We’re not getting paid to leave reviews, right? So perhaps there’s something to all of the praise. This practice has been devoted to its patients for over 40 years in the Oxnard area. My husband and I have had various procedures done here: implants, veneers, tooth extraction, bone grafting, etc. For those of you who feel anxiety regarding dentistry, there’s solutions here at this office for this condition. Both dentists are licensed examiners for I.V. sedation, insuring that dentists who offer this valuable service meet the state standards. You’re in good hands with Carson and Carson, D.D.S. And the front office is terrific at making you feel right at home, too!

Knowing I needed a tooth extraction, I was nervous. Waited just a few minutes in the office and I was escorted to my chair. Xrays were done in chair and Dr. Derek Carson told me exactly what he needed to do. He numbed me up with virtually no pain! Incredible, I was so scared and it was nothing at all (wow!). He had my tooth out in seconds… yes… seconds. He talked to me every step of the way and was extremely reassuring. I’m now at home feeling so much better. I recommend him to EVERYONE! 5 Stars for this great dentist.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Leroy Carsons since 1987 and I will not go to anyone else! There staff is the best and will work with you if you need it. It’s family values are beyond any other dentist that I have been to. Since I have a small mouth its hard to find a good dentist. Dr Carson you and Bev are like family after all these years. Your office is full of history and if you want the latest science behind dentistry Dr. Carson is the mad scientist! lol.

I cannot recommend Dr. Derek Carson and his father any more highly. Two incredible dentists! They have both been the dentists of my daughter, my mother and myself for many years. Whether teeth cleaning, extracting a tooth, doing a ceramic bridge, implant or oral surgery… everything has been painless whether it be on my daughter, myself or my mother. If I ever needed another Cerec crown, this office is where I would be.
The staff is most knowledgeable with the many dental insurance coverage plans they accept. If you do not have dental insurance, I have found them to be very affordable.
The office staff at both locations, in Oxnard and Camarillo, are not only friendly and knowledgable, but speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French! The quality of the dental work is beyond excellent and their follow-​up to make sure everything is OK is super.
I would recommend Drs. Carson and Carson in a heartbeat!

This is best dentist I’ve ever had! They make every trip pain free, which is very important to me. They use the most up to date technology and procedures to complete my dental work. Derek Carson the the first medical professional I’ve visited who actually ignores your phone messages. I called twice regarding pain after receiving 2 crowns, once 2 weeks after the operation and again 3 months after. He didn’t return either message, nor did he even have an assistant call me. Even though I’m a current patient — in pain! (Why I’m still having pain months after getting crowns is another question).

I would like to take the time to highly recommend Dr. Carson and his Awesome Staff if your looking to get dental work done.
After having severe tooth pain I was recommended by a friend to visit Dr Carson’s office. I decided to give the office a call, their helpful staff quickly answered and scheduled me for a same day appointment, a little while later I was out the door with a lot of relief. They have very flexible scheduling and the girls at the front desk are outstanding, they are very helpful and easy going, they work with your schedule to fit your needs. Needless to say I have finally found a dentist office where I feel comfortable and welcome every single time I’m there. I would definitely recommend this dentist office to family & friends and if you need work done my recommendations are for you as well.

I recently visited this office as a patient, and was completely surprised by the service and how technologically advanced their instruments are! When you walk in to the office, it has no resemblance to a «traditional» dentistry. You won’t find harsh, white, sterile surfaces or hard plastic reception area furniture. Instead you are welcomed by a warm, homey environment with comfortable seating and lots of family photos. I think this is the first gift of comfort this dentistry offers to its patients. The rooms are carpeted too, but don’t let that fool you into thinking their old fashioned. I was considering an implant and they had the ability to perform a ct scan and pull up my results in less than 20 minutes! They were also able to mould me for a whitening tray AND set it in the office! I took it home with me the same day! To top it all off, this place has some of the most caring and friendly staff around. If you’re looking for a dentist who will put your comfort ahead of keeping a tight schedule, go see Dr. Carson!

Dr. Derick Carson, is the BEST Dentist I have ever been to. I have been to a lot of Dentists in my 51 years and he, by FAR, is the best. He is doing a restoration, with 6 implants, 7 veneers and some incredible teeth saving techniques.
Other Dentists said the 2 teeth had to be pulled, and he said, I beg to differ. He did an amazing job saving those teeth and I am a very happy camper.
He makes you feel very comfortable, stress free and no pain. The staff is fantastic and the dental lobby is just like being at home with friends.

Dr. LeRoy Carson is awesome! I am so grateful to him. He saved me from undergoing an apaciectomy (by a different doctor) that was scheduled for today and which would have in all likelihood left me with a numb mouth for the rest of my life or worse. The other Endodontist at a different facility had performed a root canal on a tooth of mine in October 2012. That root canal failed and was causing me problems ever sice it was done. I was feeling very uneasy about letting that same doctor perform the apaciectomy, even though he was going to do it free. As the procedure drew nearer, I started to feel that I just wanted the tooth extracted by a dentist. Then I received good medical advice from another doctor that cautioned me to go to an oral surgeon for a 2nd opinion on the apaciectomy procedure or extraction. That’s when my guardian angels led me to Dr. LeRoy Carson. I’m sure it was more than luck. Upon meeting with Dr. Carson, he took my history and some x-​rays. His feeling was that in view of a lot of other medical problems that I have, that extracting the tooth would probably be best. However, he stated that he could not make a determination of whether he would do either the apaciectomy or an extraction until he was able to see a better picture of the problem. He said he would need a catscan to be able to see my problem more clearly. His office even has a catscan right in there! After the catscan, Dr. Carson was clearly able to see and point out to me that the overfill from the root canal was quite substantial and was actually within millimeters away from a crucial nerve. He could clearly see in the results from the catscan that neither the apaciectomy nor the extraction could be done safely and was far too risky. The risk being that I could end up with my mouth being numb for the rest of my life or worse.
Today I realize that right now I could be sitting here in that condition. The doctor who wanted to «fix» the root canal with an apaciectomy had only taken an x-​ray and had no idea just how risky the procedure was. I feel truly blessed that Dr. Carson was so thorough and was able to point out the danger that existed.
The office staff at this facility are all very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I currently have no dental insurance and signed up with the“care” program offered by his office. I was happy to be able to take advantage of their «Care» program that allows two years for full payment, without interest.
Dr. Carson is not interested in the $$$ signs. I found him to be a very caring person with a passion for what he does in his profession. I count my blessings to have been somehow guided to his office. Thank you Dr. Carson!

I had just started a road trip vacation, when my full crown came unattached! I was away from home, and it was a Saturday afternoon. I read that I was in danger of infection if I didn’t get it treated within 24 – 48 hours, so I tried to find whatever emergency dentist I could. Very few dentist offices were open. I tried one earlier in the day, who said he was afraid to take it all the way off for fear of breaking it, claiming he didn’t have the right tools. I called another one, and he wanted to charge an exorbitant «emergency fee» for coming in during a weekend. While looking for dentists in Oxnard, I was lucky enough to stumble onto Dr. Carson’s contact info.
When I called, I got an answer right away, and they made a special trip to the office for me! I have to admit I felt pretty special watching the dentist and his assistant unlock the door to let me in. They took an X-​ray of the problem area (without insisting on taking the whole mouth like some dentists annoyingly require with new patients). Unlike the previous dentist, Dr. Carson had no qualms about removing the crown, and deftly re-​attached it, and also offered a diagnosis as to why it came loose in the first place. He tested and found that indeed my crown had been mishapen when it was initially put in a year ago. Then, he adjusted its shape so I wouldn’t have the problem again, and THEN went on to fix another crown with a similar problem… all free of charge!
All the while, he and his assistant were very friendly to me, even though they knew I was just passing through town and had no chance of being a repeat patient.
In sum, not only did I get an on-​demand service for a very reasonable price (I had no dental insurance), they did some additional work to prevent it from happening again. Also, I felt like I’d met a couple friends when I left. Definitely recommended.
