This is not a typical Mexican restaurant! Their menu is unique and the taste is very authentic. I love their salsa verde and mocajete! The food is very delicious and the presentation is great. The staff are very friendly. Will definitely come back here!

I was driving through the all farming town of Oxnard and came across this little place, I said to my girl you want Mexican food. So we stopped in and immediately were greeted by the owner who told us to sit anywhere. They brought us out their award winning salsa and chips, which was some of the best salsa I ha e ever had. We ordered, I got the seafood dish which had shrimp, octopus, a whitefish, beans rice and this was sim a dish sent from the heavens, I went back for breakfast the next morning and low and behold salsa and chips, and the most sublime chorizo and eggs, rice a d beans ever, served with warm, house made fresh corn tortillas. Simply amazing…

DO ask for the hottest salsa — wow! Very good house margaritas in BIG glasses($ 9) They won the«hot salsa» contest at the salsa festival this year(well deserved) — I walked in with $ 4 and became the house«DJ» for 7 songs(go figure there was a bunch of credit already on the juke box when I walked up!) BONUS! Played«Saint Of Me» by the Rolling Stones — we could discuss that all night — now you at least know one song the«DJ» played! Back to the food — you will have to search a long time to find better than this! The only reason I can’t give it a 5 star rating is I need to try more stuff! Chicken tortilla soup — solid 5 stars — there is no better. Chicken taco and chicken enchilada 4 stars. My wife had the combination fajitas and said«Best I ever had» 5 stars!!! House margarita 4 stars — will try higher end next time(this is a work night after all!) We WILL be back!!!

Nice place tucked into old town Oxnard. Service excellent, food good. Great parking, a little noisy from the main road(had the door open for ventilation) but would definitely return!

Fantastic food at reasonable prices! Not sure how the waitress got our order right between special dietary requests and the blaring mariachi band, but it was perfect. Chips and salsa were superb and the best horchata we’ve ever had!

I always judge Mexican food by its chips and salsa– and the salsa here was amazing! I came here for a lunch for business– I had a party of 4 and we were on out lunch hour. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I told the waitress we only had one hour, and they said no problem! The food came out 10 minutes before we had to leave. what a bummer. The food was good, but we couldn’t enjoy it. Also, in the middle of our hour, they turned up the TV super loud and we couldn’t hear each other. No one else was in the restaurant! I had to ask them to turn it down so we could communicate, especially since there was no food! Although the waitress apologized profusely, nothing was taken off the bill or comped for next time. I won’t be back…

The food gets 3 stars. It was very hot inside the restaurant which made my experience uncomfortable. Didn’t make sense b/c the place has an A/C unit. The beer was also room temperature. Not fun drinking warm beer. Other than that it was an O. K experience. They had the TV’s on sports which I liked. The music playing was also good. Overall below average place.

From the in-house lime rice and the margarita that spared no tequila, this hidden gem was a knockout. Be prepared to gesture, but otherwise the service is great.

While thrift shopping in Oxnard/Ventura, we literally stumbled on this place while searching for a Mexican restaurant with a full bar. We were very skeptical about this place, as it looked more like a bar or cantina than it did a restaurant. Since our choices were slim we decided to give this place a shot. We ordered a molcajete, tortilla soup, pollo con mole, & chile verde &4 micheladas. Let me start with the michelada’s, they were probably one of the best I’ve had & everyone in my party felt the same, my mouth is watering just writing this. Too bad it’s so far from L. A or I might be a regular. If you try nothing else, try a michelada and I promise you wont regret it! My wife ordered the pollo con mole, which was simply amazing. The mole sauce must be made from scratch. Someone else ordered the tortilla soup, which was recommended by a fellow Unilocaler. Like the michelada, one of the best I’ve had. Someone else ordered chile verde, it looked good but I did not try it. I ordered a molcajete, which was also amazing! The camarones costa azul were by far the best I have ever had, the carne was ok, maybe a little overcooked from sitting in the molcajete too long. The chicken filets were also tasty as was the longoniza. The fish filet was cooked to perfection. Parking is tough; we got lucky & parked right in front, which was a mere accident. Despite the appearance, when in Oxnard, I highly recommend this restaurant. Service was slow at times, but a small price to pay for such amazing home cooked authentic Mexican food, which is why I am still giving them 5 stars. The food made up for everything & actually made the entire trip worth the drive.

On a random adventure ended up in oxnard and we were getting pretty starved so drove around and found this restaurant. It was clean and the hostess was friendly. We ordered the Chicken Zarandeado and the Beef Tampiquena. It was a lot of food I will admit, the beans were good, and the flavor of the food was good. The chicken was a little dry all in all it was ok. But I have had b etter.

It was my first time coming here with my grand lil bro RJ for lunch and we were starvinggg. We were welcomed, seated in clean booth and received chips and salsa from our hostess. The hostess was really friendly and always checked up on us and refilled our drinks. I ordered the chimichanga for ~$ 7 and RJ ordered the burrito mojado(not sure how much it was but everything on their lunch menu was less than $ 10). Our food came out in a good 10 minutes and the portions are HUGE. My chimichanga was almost like the size of a monster burrito from Freebirds! As we were enjoying our food and having a serious conversation, the restaurant’s live mariachi-like band was performing for other diners nearby and we couldn’t hear each other well. Definitely not a quiet ambiance but didn’t ruin our meal. I would recommend this place and maybe have the food to go if you mind live Spanish music :)
