Jennifer does amazing work. I have been following her for several years. I get so many compliments on my hair. She is a miracle worker.

This is my new go-​to salon! My roommate referred me to Sarah because she found a good deal on Groupon and ended up loving her hair. My first visit, I got my hair trimmed and balayage highlights. I am always slightly nervous when getting any color treatment done, but she really listened to what I wanted and the highlights came out great. They are subtle, but still noticeable enough that I get complimented on them often!
I just recently visited again to get more of a medium-​length bob right before a work event. She persuaded me to go a bit shorter in the back and I ended up absolutely loving the final result! Sarah is always so friendly and is amazing at her job! Everyone at Salon Novello is so hospitable and I’m always offered a cup of coffee or glass of wine upon arrival which is a nice touch!

Connie did a great job with my cut and highlights. She asked me a lot of questions before-​hand to figure out exactly what I wanted. I was a little nervous before I came in, because I am pretty picky when it comes to my hair. I have had some bad cuts/​highlights before (yellow hair/​super-​short bangs), but the cut and highlights were exactly what I wanted. I will be returning when it is time for another cut. I had no problem finding parking right in front of the salon, and it is in a great location in Pacific Beach.

Connie did and amazing job on my cut and color! She got the color I wanted down to a tee, and I couldn’t be happier with it. These stylist really pay attention to what you want and each time they nail it. I posted a picture of her job well done! Thank you Connie for setting me up with such a pretty red :) :)

I love my hair!!! Ask for Sarah she did an amazing job. Exactly what I asked for balyage highlight with layers. I was a little scared to get my hair cut because I’ve had a bad experience with get my hair chopped off :/​but she cut it perfect I still had my length and my hair looks healthy. I am happy and I would recommend Sarah!

Lindsey Is the best! Ive even had other stylists complement my hair. From highlights to a dark ombré shes seriously awesome. Im leaving SD but I would totally consider coming back just to see her!

I had a Groupon for a partial highlight and cut and was able to make an appointment with Lindsay W. She was super friendly and listened to all of my ideas– even offered me a glass of wine which is always great :) my hair turned out just the way I wanted and I enjoyed my experience. Thanks Lindsay!

My stylist was Connie and she is amazing. It was my first time at Salon Novello, and I was very impressed with my service. Connie got me to the exact color I asked for, and as someone who wears extensions, she had a lot of advice for me. I can’t wait for her to switch me from clip-​ins to tape-​in.
I also had the keratin blowout treatment — I highly recommend that for anyone like me who likes to color their hair a lot and has a lot of natural frizz. I love that Connie will work with your schedule and stay later in the evening to do an appointment — some places don’t allow for that, but it’s hard for me to make time on weekends or to take off work. Prices were also totally reasonable!

I came to this salon because of the flawless reviews I saw here on Unilocal… I wish I could share everyone else’s experience.
My prior all over dye job had grown out a bit and I asked for the roots to match the rest of the color with additional balayage highlights for that pretty sunkissed look. A few weeks since my appointment, whatever color was applied to roots has washed out and they again look dark and unkept. Balayage highlights are barely noticeable and I have to look for them to see the strands that are just slightly lighter in color. So, color is essentially unchanged from before my appointment and I’ve essentially gone through another episode of damaging my hair for nothing. Now I have to decide if it worth both paying for and damaging my hair again to try to get what I wanted elsewhere.
The cut was fine, not the worst I’ve had but nothing special either — just asked for basic trim and layers as I always do.
I will say my stylist was very sweet and made the salon experience very enjoyable. I’m sure they do great work here and perhaps my experience was atypical, but unfortunately I cannot agree with all the other rave reviews here.

I’ve been going to Connie since I moved to San Diego and will continue to go to her until I leave. So proud (but not surprised by her success bc she is fantastic) that she has opened her own salon!

Beyond impressed with Jennifer. I don’t usually get to pay for people to do my hair. I spend all my money on my kids, lol… But I got a gift certificate for my birthday.
I am so leery of people touching my hair. So many times it has ended in tragedy. Oh… you think that word is too dramatic huh? Well, its not! Tragedy is what I experienced in the past, so it has made me very skittish.
Jennifer was running a few minutes late, but did a great job of letting me know she was on her way. She looked at my hair for a while. Then she asked me what I wanted. I told her I wanted to keep my length, get some layers, fix the mess I made cutting it myself for the last two years and cover my roots. Which at this point were at levels high enough to warrant a fashion police intervention.
She is a miracle worker. She did such a great job. My length was still the same, but now I have these nice long layers and the color is natural and rich. Very happy girl right here.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Connie has been my hair stylist for going on 4 years now. She is by far the best hair stylist I’ve ever had. She and I have had some fun playing around with different hair styles. We’ve done all kinds of highlights, red panels, reverse ombré with color, back to just my normal hair. She is definitely gifted and I don’t trust anyone else with my hair. She’s even helped me grow my hair out, and always gives expert advice on products. I’ve never been disappointed.

Love my hair! Lindsay did my hair just as I asked. She took the time and effort to ask what I wanted and what my needs were. She was fun to talk to and the groupon price was amazing. Would definitely recommend her.

I found out about Porter & Hudson thru Groupon and thought I’d give it a try! Went here for the first time today and I was blessed to have Sarah transform my hair! I normally don’t have great experiences going to hair salons but today was definitely special. I wanted some simple layers and balayage highlights in time for summer, and was so pleased with the results! She really took the time to make things right and was pleasant to talk to :) I even learned a thing or two about hair care /​hair products, so cool! Sarah went above and beyond to make sure I liked the end result rather than just provide what was stated in the Groupon deal. It’s rare to come across hairstylists that care enough about their clients like this… I’ll definitely be going back! Thank you Sarah!
Pros:
— walk-​ins allowed, and they have last minute openings on a weekday (or maybe I got lucky!)
— the salon is clean and pleasant to be in /​look at; modern looking with vintage touches of its own
— this is a boutique salon, where each hairdresser really takes their time to cater to client’s needs/​wants, and getting them right (and when I say take their time, I really mean it! Sarah worked on my hair for almost 5 hours and the results were phenomenal!).
— hairdressers are passionate about what they do and it shows when they work
— hairdressers are friendly and by the end of the session you feel like you’ve made a new friend!
— great scalp massage during shampoo/​conditioning
— my hair smells so good… feels so soft (and looks healthier than ever before, even after the coloring) after hair cut/​color!
Cons:
— free 2 hour parking, and it’s street parking only, which can be tough… but the ladies are all very flexible and allow you to move your car during the session if need be. If you’re just going in for something quick like a cut or touch up, 2 hours is plenty of time :) I recommend going during the week because I’ve heard it gets busy on weekends.
— without Groupon, it’s a little on the pricey side… but what do I know, I rarely go to salons because I’ve been disappointed in the past.
I’m so excited to see my balayage lighten into a more sunkissed tone as summer approaches! :)

I just got and hombre from Lindsey, and it looks amazing. I showed her a couple of pictures of what I wanted, and she was able to combine them all and just make something really beautiful. Awesome service, didn’t take too long, I’ve never written a review about something before, so this is a big deal!

I randomly wanted to get my hair done one morning and did not want to pay a fortune– so I was looking online at groupon. I stumbled across Porter & Hudson and gave them a call– they got me in that day. I absolutely loved the outcome and Sarah did a great job! Great salon– nice and local if you live in PB!

I bought a groupon to this place as even before I walked in I knew I would love the place just by the prompt customer service and trying their very best to accommodate my annoying work schedule. I’m so excited Jackie got to do my hair because she is always booked obviously because she is awesome. My blow dry came out so amazing. I felt like I had known the girls in there forever. I felt happy to support their business because they are a bunch of badass hard working woman!

Ask for Britney Cook, you will not be disappointed.
We did a consultation before the cut. I felt confident going in that she’d do what I wanted. She was very considerate.
She gave me a great scalp massage when I was shampood.
And guess what? My hair was great!
Looked healthy and she stuck to all the parameters that we discussed.
I would go back to her in a heartbeat! And guess what? I got compliments on my hair that day and days after. All this for only $ 40
Solid 5 stars.

Found the salon thru Groupon, and of course I Unilocaled the salon to check out the reviews and I’m so happy I gave it a try.
Had the pleasure of meeting Brittney Cook, and from the moment we met she made sure that when I left her chair I would be 100% satisfied with her talents. Trimmed bangs, some long layers and a bayalage.
Can’t wait for another visit!

Tape in Extensions — Connie!
Why, because the barrel and the dream catchers that I got elsewhere are expensive, painful and not worth what you get. These tapes in are much more comfortable and do not pull your hair out. When they do move up they take EVERYTHING and and re do. not like the Dreamcatchers where they just slide it up and re position. Your scalp does not take a beating.
Connie is a friendly down to earth reasonable priced stylist. I felt very comfortable there 5 min after walking in.
Thank goodness for seeing her work on another gal and getting that referral.
