Rescue Rooter Seattle

We called Rescue Rooter on a Sunday afternoon after a hose-​bibb replacement «do-​it-​yourself» project turned into a snapped pipe leaking under our kitchen sink. We had plans Sunday evening so arranged for someone from RR to come out Monday morning between 8 and 10AM. Andrew A showed up a bit before 9AM, professional, courteous, and friendly. He assessed the issue, identified the needed fix, and got down to work. In the course of plumbing conversations, we discussed our home’s leaking water heater, which we’ve been limping along for the past year but know we needed to replace as it was 12 years old (we moved to this house in 2013). Andrew offered us pricing for several options (they provide equipment and install, or we provide equipment/​they install & bring up to code), and gave us sufficient time to research pricing while he finished the hose-​bibb replacement fix. There was no pressure or a feeling of «up-​selling». Andrew was candid about the equipment being similar between what he could supply and what we could buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s; if we had the means to go and pick up the heater & expansion tank ourselves same day, that would be the more cost effective option as it would eliminate the RR markup on equipment and still allow us the same day services discount. We very much appreciate his customer service approach and that in addition to the fix we called RR for, he also took care of our «time-​bomb» water heater. Thanks Andrew!

Ok, had to have major sewer re-​work done for my house. It did cost quite a bit of money to fix but Danny and team were very professional. They got on the job immediate, did very high quality work. They even moved back the plants that they had to remove, replaced the ones they couldn’t save, and put back my drip line irrigation system!

Came out on a Sunday night to unclog my main sewer line. Both the gentleman, Alex & Chris, were pleasant and informative. They took care of the short term fix and provided a quote for what the long term solution is. The price initially seemed high but once I realized the time it would take and how thorough they were in their investigation and solution proposal, I felt like it was good value. Got an education and can also now flush my toilets once again :-)

This review is specifically for Ryan, he is very smart and knowledgeable and literally saved our life. Our water heaters pipe melted off and we have a gas heater. We initially called and Tim came over to inspect our pipe, he stated that it would be a easy fix he took payment and promised to return the next morning. The next morning came and no call or communication from Tim, after calling twice we were informed from staff that he could not come. He didn’t keep his promise but took the payment anyway which I did not appreciate. The company sent out new technicians and we met Ryan, within minutes he was able to determine how much danger we were in. We were throughly informed about a huge safety risk because our tubing and pipes were not installed properly in the first place (another big disappointment). Ryan let us know how unsafe the set up was and informed us to shut it off as our house can catch on fire, he was surprised that with such poor installation a house fire hadn’t already happen. He immediately called his manager and I will be reimbursed for the service Tim did not provide. Thankfully we found a cheaper route with Home Depot but I want everyone to know that Ryan is a honest and hardworking person. Thank you for being so efficient with diagnosing everything and letting us know of options. I will recommend him to anyone.

David Brelia and his trainee were absolute professionals. After coming home to discover our dishwasher had been draining into our floors, we called Rescue Rooter and they were able to send a technician that same night. David explained what the issue was and what work would be needed in order to repair it. On top of that, he gave us a quote before beginning any work, and did what was necessary while still staying at a reasonable price. He and his trainee were quick, efficient, treated our home with respect, explained what they were doing, and gave us advice and information for the future (as we just bought a home). They asked before they did anything, cleaned up after themselves, and were even super friendly with our dogs. This was a stressful situation to be in (we’re renters with corner-​cutting landlords), but David did a great job with making us feel informed and saved our kitchen. When our new house has any plumbing issues, we will definitely use Rooter Rescue again.

This is one of the worst companies I have ever encountered. I tend to be pretty trusting and so I did not even check Unilocal — next time I will because my story is repeated here over and over. Their business model seems to be to be very available for fast service on a seemingly untenable problem — in our case a kitchen sink drain stoppage. We used them in 2014 and they came right over and ran a snake down then charged me $ 290. Then + $ 132 for a one year warantee (although the labor is only 90 days according to the paperwork). I was not paying very much attention at the time, but that is what the paperwork I later found says.
The second part of their business model came up when I called them 10 months later. They told me my warrantee was expired, but that they would send someone right over. Looking at the 2014 paperwork I later found, this appears to be outright fraud. They sent a guy over who seemed to have a lot of trouble and needed back-​up so a second truck came. I was not watching him work, but I doubt that would have made much difference to what transpired. He put a long, electric snake down, made a lot of noise, and claimed he could not clear it. They then proceeded to try to ascertain where the clog was using some sort of fancy locating device and could never find the end of their equipment, but then decided that I needed $ 6000 worth of work to tear up the concrete driveway, dig down, open up the line then pressure blast — no guarantee that it would work however. Naturally, they could get right on it the next day and please sign here…
Luckily that price tag was enough to make me take more stock this time. I called Fritz plumbing — all they do is snaking so NO incentive to upcharge, use them! I did have to wait a couple days, but it was well worth it as two nicely dressed and mannered young men showed up on time, got a 25 foot snake (non-​electric) and proceeded to clear it in about 10 minutes, charged me $ 145 and were on their way!
Do not use Rescue Rooter, they are either incompetent, or more likely dishonest and the worst is we found out they had done the sewer work on the home when it belonged to the previous owner who ended up foreclosing on the home because of plumbing work (which we found when we bought it was shoddy and had to be redone for $ 18,000)! I don’t know how they can sleep at night honestly!

David B. was top-​notch. He identified and fixed the problem quickly, showing me what he was doing along the way. He and the trainee that was with him were courteous and thorough, offering to check all our sinks and toilets and the water heater. I appreciated how quickly they could come out to repair our clogged line and would highly recommend Rescue Rooter and David in particular!

Dave and Chris were super great today!
We had water backing up out of our basement drain whenever we would shower in the basement bathroom. Rescue Rooter came out within a few hours, snaked the drain to the street, and pulled out a ball of roots.
Then, Dave had Chris bring out a sewer scope and they pinpointed the section of our sewer line that needs repairing, and marked in our yard where the sewer line needs repairs.
Our only charge was for snaking the drain, and they did not charge us for the sewer scope. They gave us an estimate for repairing the current damage. Since they were able to clear the line, we plan to use an herbicide to help prevent further root growth until we can get the damage repaired. So, at least we can shower and everything, for now.
Based on other reviews, I was a little suspicious about using this company but, the 88.00 special for snaking a line was affordable. I asked questions and made statements up front like: If it’s going to be more than the special price at any given time, please let me know, before you do the work. And, is the work guaranteed? If it doesn’t work, I don’t have to pay, right?
Dave reassured me that he would let me know ahead of time if the cost would increase and that his work is guaranteed. That made me feel a lot better and ultimately, what he did worked and they diagnosed the other issues for free. The only thing we had to do was remove and reset the toilet in the basement bathroom, in order to get the special price. This is first rate customer service in my book. Thanks again!

I should have read the reviews prior to setting my appointment.
Please learn from my mistake that this is not a company worth dealing with regardless of if you have a coupon or not.
I make an appointment for Friday 5 – 8 and made sure to leave work in time for Friday rush hour.
Well I waited and waited and Chelsea called me on the hour to let me know they did not have a technician ready but would update me as soon as possible.
Finally at 8 I said that I only wanted service if someone could come to my place in the next 2 hours feeling that was a fair request as that is 2 hours additional added to their already generous 3 hour window. With no luck with even the extended time frame I asked to speak to the manager.
Andrew called me the next day and gave me the most half asked excuse, when i explained the situation he offer little in terms of problem solving. Getting a little frustrated he explained that this isn’t hair cutting and that they aren’t always on time, EXACTLY why you provide a 3 hour window I thought. He belittled my concerns about being a women and having a strange man come to my home past hours I was comfortable with. When I finally proposed a time that would work for me 7pm the next day Andrew assured me that they would be right on time and offered to provide a discount on the service, as I told him I had no time for a 3 + hour window.
7pm came and went no technician not until some time past 9 the technician came — with no mention of discount, when I brought it up he was unaware and could not provide the discount I requested.
I kindly asked the technician to have Andrew call me as there were some things I would like to discuss. still waiting on that call and thus Unilocal gets this feedback.

Classic Bait and Switch, Don’t waste your time, go elsewhere.
Called Saturday night and asked about their $ 88 drain cleaning ‘special’. Once they heard the drain was in an apartment building laundry room they said this would be charged at their ‘commercial’ rate, even though a clogged kitchen sink is no different than a clogged laundry sink drain, and they wouldn’t tell me a price. Only their tech could give me a price.
They said their ‘tech’ would arrive between 11 and 1 pm Sunday. From 10am until 6pm they called every hour or so to say their tech would be calling me soon. Finally, around 7 a guy did show upe but his estimate was over $ 350 for a basic drain cleaning!!!
I called Bob Oates Monday morning, they told me the rate upfront which was over $ 150 less.

The guys themselves seemed relatively personable and competent.
The issue arose when the supposed charge was was $ 88, but then they removed the toilet from the floor which they weren’t supposed to do — and the charge suddenly became $ 160.
Seeing as our plumbing was completely blocked at the time (and we were basically at their mercy) and — get this — our landlords were out of town, they tried to tell our landlords on the phone that they needed to do $ 1,200 worth of service. Separately, they told me and my boyfriend that we needed to get $ 12,000 worth of service as they would need to dig up and replace pipe in the yard.
It seems that if you’re really in a bind, they don’t «rescue» you — they attempt to hold your plumbing hostage for the nice ransom of an ambiguous amount, give or take a couple zeros.

I used a promotion that made the cost of a mechanical sewer cleaning $ 88 + tax (normally around $ 400). When the technician arrived, he immediately began upsetting the hydrojet cleaning at almost $ 1300 (about 14 times the cost of the mechanical with our coupon).
I was fine with him giving us the option once, but he continued to pressure us after I declined. After performing the service, he wrote a misleading note on the report that might lead people to believe that our sewer was still obstructed with root intrusions, which isn’t the case. They also neglected to send us the sewer video — something that was supposed to be included with the service.
It was a very frustrating experience, and I would not recommend this business.

They are overpriced. We called them in for a blocked sewer line. It turned into having 8 feet of pipe dug up and repaired. They then told us we needed to replace the rest of the line immediately. At this point we had already paid over $ 8,000 and they wanted another $ 6000 to finish the line. We started getting second opinions and the 3 other companies we called out said he had been charged 4x what they would price it at and the remainder of the work we usually n
Priced about $ 3000. Also they removed our toilet for the original inspection and when they reinstalled it they didn’t seal is properly so it leaked. We ended up fixing it ourselves rather then having to deal with them again.

They arrived in time and they fixed the problem at a reasonable price.

Expensive, as most plumbers are, but came to our rescue after other companies left us hanging. I will call them first next time. Dave Hope was the technician. Got us back up and running with a good attitude.

After seeing their truck around, we decided to call Rescue Rooter when the drain line of our garbage disposal was plugged beyond reach. Zach showed up within 2 hours although the dispatcher had initially said more like 4. Zach gave us a fare estimate pretty fast and was able to fix the problem under 2 hours. We were impressed how such a young kid could be so knowledgeable and work so hard. Although it is never fun to deal with that kind of issue, we will definitely call Rescue Rooter again if needed. They will also reward you with a 10% discount if you are a AAA member.

Rescue Rooter hires people who are not up to the work they contract with consumers. I called them for a gurgling drain a year ago, ended up with a new sewer (complete with duct tape tie-​ins) and a nightmare of ongoing groundwater and rodent issues caused by their negligent work. It has ruined my property and taken a toll on my life over the last year, to the point that now I am short-​selling my house to make it stop. My story is here:

Needed someone who knew what they were doing to take a look at leaky pipes in my garage.
Set up an appointment after googling and other «emergency plumbing services» being unavailable.
Within a couple hours, Steven Mc was here to diagnose the issue and resolve the relatively minor issue with the tub that caused the leak.
I also asked if he could check out a couple other issues in the house. 1 was a minor issue that would’ve cost more money than I was able to spend. Passed on that one after Steven gave me an honest assessment of the situation. Another issue was a leaky kitchen sink/​garbage disposal I had only recently noticed. He installed a new garbage disposal and fixed that issue after giving me an estimate and my assessment that it was worth fixing.
TLDR: These guys helped me get peace of mind on a Sunday night with quick, efficient, and friendly service.
