We rent, sell, customize and repair mannequins. Huge inventory of over 500 mannequins and forms. Inventory includes: Vintage and Modern mannequins, realistic, abstract and headless mannequins, all kinds of forms including Dress Forms and Faux Crash Test Dummies. Sculptor in house for custom projects including portraits. We can mold and reproduce just about anything in Fiberglass. We create ultra realistic figures with silicon heads, arms and hands. Heads have glass eyes and wig with plugged in hairline and eyebrows. We ship anywhere and also have a delivery/​pick up service for rentals.

History

Established in 1990.

Walt Wilkey, Artist started The Mannequin Gallery in 1990. He intended to repair mannequins for retail stores, but it was a recession then so not much work. One day he came back from lunch and there was a note on his door from «White Men Can’t Jump,» the movie. They needed to rent purple mannequins and his relationship with Hollywood was born. For many years almost all business came from the Movie and TV industry. Recent Hollywood work: Opening of «Hotel for Dogs» «Confessions of a Shopaholic, ” Season Finale of «Numbers.» Then with the internet came expansion. Museums, Photographers, Events, Tradeshows etc… Eventually, the stores started to call for repairs. Today we repair mannequins for Barneys NY, Valentino, Banana Republic, Bally, St. John, Marc Jacobs to name a few.

Business Owner

I am the other partner at The Mannequin Gallery and I am who you speak to when calling. Back in the early 1990’s I was directing muscical theater and working part time in promotion. Walt Wilkey, owner of The Mannequin Gallery was building sets for my shows. We started dating and one day I offered to quit my Promotion job and come work with him at The Mannequin Gallery. He said nothing, actually, but I did quit and showed up at The Mannequin Gallery. We then went from a few post cards going out a week to a few hundred and when we got a computer in 1998, well as for all businesses, that was the key. We are still partners 15 years later. Got married in 2000.
