this retailer gets two stars for product selection and minus one for customer service or pricing. inventory is always spotty. call ahead to check for stock. Fred can perform this task reliably. don’t rely on Jonathan for anything. if stock is not available, placement of a special order is possible in person with a full pre-payment. ordering over the phone is not an option. lumber is not measured accurately. double check their BF calculations before paying. plywood sheet pricing can vary by 20% for the identical product. recently, a 30″ x 120″ piece of dimensional bamboo lumber cost $ 230. upon returning for a second piece two months later, the price was $ 540. try to avoid this joint.

Make sure you know how to calculate board feet on your own or else YOUWILLBESCREWEDANDLIEDTO. Phillips Plywood does not have set prices im assuming because each time i buy here the price for the same material is always different for some reason. Theyre probably commision based because they rip you off and lie to you on the calculation of board feet. I will no longer come here for materials. Many other lumber yards would appreciate your business more than this place does.

For some reason, these guys have a shitty attitude with a chip over their shoulder. Like they’re the only whole sale lumber yard in town. They treat the customer like 2nd hand. I was given a quote over the phone. When I arrived, the manager hiked up $ 5 more p/sheet. It wouldn’t change the rate, even if I purchased by the palette. So, go figure… was the quote on the phone just to real us in or was it an honest error? The manager definitely seem to show that he had ultimate authority. On top of it all, the gentleman(manager), had such a sarcastic behavior with prior customers at the counter. Now, I’m a gal, he treated me like the sole of his shoe and was shying, as he spoke to me. First visit for me, I had plenty of questions to find the right material and grade. He demonstrated that I was a nuisance to him. Well, there’s another lumber yard off of Woodley. My sheets were available in bigger sizes. After dividing by square foot, it’s an equivalent rate, a couple cents better; to what Philip’s has to offer. Without lines, without the attitude, just as competitive, and with wide range of selections. US contains the richest amount in wood commodity vs. any other country… so, Philip’s straighten out your staff because I run a business… and I would never imagine treating anyone like I was. Regardless of gender, language, or race. Customer or not. And, guess what… I’m sure that your business won’t be injured by one less customer… but, you don’t know the magnitude of my manufacturing and clients who don’t know better; will continue to accept this treatment.

Absolutely despise these guys. They have cheap stuff that’s good quality but the service is a shame. Seems like they’re trying to screw you over rather than actually help. Maybe with a change of management this place would be okay, but there’s definitely something wrong.

Our company has been coming here for year’s now to purchase wood for our line of work. They have really good customer service(especially Fred, Celia, John aka Shag … ;)…etc) and basically everyone that work’s there. We’ve been in business since 1992 and have always purchased our wood material from Phillips and were always satisfied in the quality of the material. Once you place an order you are given a slip that you hand to the forklift operators who then bring you your ordered material. They then help you load it on to your vehicle and you are on your way. Their prices are also really good. So if you’re in the business of woodworking I recommend coming to Phillips Plywood for all your wood needs.

Do you ever watch home remodel shows on TV and wonder how they manage to achieve so much in such a small budget? It’s because they go to places like this that don’t advertise and only contractors know about. I went here looking for exotic wood veneers for my front door but they carry all kinds of wood products that you won’t find at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s. If you know what you want, you can call ahead and they’ll have it ready for pick-up. If you don’t, stop in and see Fred Guzman who’ll give you the goods on all their goods. He’s helpful and friendly and didn’t rush us at all to make a decision. We made a small purchase but he made sure that we got all the answers we needed and even escorted us to the back to make sure we could pick out the exact sheet of veneer we wanted. If you need exotic wood for your project, check out this place.
