I was in the area for work and stopped in for a quick lunch. I was trying to find a place that sells smoothies/bionicos and this seemed like the street for it but I was driving too slow looking for one so I pulled over here. This place doesn’t sell them, but they had licuados so I stayed. I got one veg pupusa and a melon licuado(my first) and they were both good. I was impressed at the size of the pupusa, it seemed quite a bit bigger than ones I’ve had elsewhere, and was really good when I smothered it with the side of(cortad@(s?)…the Salvadoran version of kimchee/coleslaw). I only know a little Spanish but the woman who took my order figured out what I wanted. I wasn’t sure what kind of restaurant it was(do you pick it up at the counter or do they bring it out?) but she took out each part if my order as it was ready, and even came by later to check on me and make sure everything was good, like a regular restaurant. It wasn’t quick, but it was very tasty & good portions, the price was good with good service, so if I’m in the neighborhood again I will come back! They also offer almost half price on their pupusas Tues & Thursdays, what a deal!

The horchata at this restaurant is very watered down, not good. The Salvadorian bread tasted stale and dry as well. However, the chicken stew was delicious. Lots of flavor and the homemade tortillas were super yummy too. The popusas were also very good but chicken and rice was a little plain.

I wish I could give this place another half star cuz my true rating is a 3.5. I go here for 1 reason &1 reason only, Pupusas! A Pupusa is a thick, hand-made corn tortilla that is stuffed with one or more of the following: cheese(queso)(usually a soft Salvadoran cheese called Quesillo), fried pork rind(chicharron), squash(ayote), refried beans(frijoles refritos), or queso con loroco(loroco is a vine flower bud from Central America). There is also the pupusa revuelta with mixed ingredients, such as queso(cheese), frijoles(beans), and chicharron or bacon. That is what I order the Revuelta & it is so damn good. Go on a Tuesday or Thursday when they are available at a reduced price of $ 1.25 each(they used to be .99 cents but w the Bush economy they went up a little). I have never eaten there as I always get my orders to go but they serve everything a normal LA Taqueria would serve(tacos, burritos, menudo, caldo de res) The place is a little hole in the wall in Pacoima but they churn out some good food.
