Adventurous Antelope Canyon Photo Tours

In our research for getting into Antelope Canyon, we found that AAC was a fraction of the price of some other tour companies. But since they were the only ones with availability on the days we were in Page, we kind of settled with them. But everything ended up pretty awesome in the end.
There were two initial strikes against them even before the tour began. First, you can’t make an online reservations; you gotta go old-​school with a phone call. I’m a pretty low-​maintenance guy but we like the convenience of being able to do that on your own online. Next, driving up to the lot that houses AAC was a bit reminiscent of «The Hills Have Eyes;» it was pretty deserted, from afar the placed looked pretty shabby and sketch. It’s kind of just a small building for the employees, several benches (shaded thank goodness), a couple porta-​potties about a 100 yards away, and a huge parking lot in the middle of the desert.
After checking in though, everything went super well. They were super organized with getting everyone situated with their transpo to the canyon. After the rough, dusty drive to the canyon (bring a bandana or mask, or buy one from them for $ 2), the tour finally began.

I did the #1 which is just a «regular tour» and my wife did the #10 photographers’ tour. As others have said, yes you get a bit rushed through at times if you’re just doing the regular. At the same time, I didn’t feel overly rushed or felt like I needed more time at any one spot. My wife said she had more than enough time at her spots to take photos.
I would be remiss to not mention how awesome our guides were. My guide was Andy B. and he was super knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. He had so many tips for the best camera/​iPhone settings, photo opportunities and vantage points, and was just an all-​around good dude. I was in a group with a family of four and he often just asked me for my iPhone to take pics of me. My wife, on the photo tour, said her guide was just as helpful, as well as aggressive in keeping the canyon clear in their shots for their photo opps.
In the end, we left super happy with AAC. I can’t imagine what the other tours are charging for that makes it so much more expensive; perhaps you wait in an air-​conditioned room or drive to the canyon in those crazy Benzo buses? Like I said, I’m low maintenance and AAC ended up being the right choice for us.

The only one that offers a tour of four canyons and they were all spectacular. Tour guides Woody and Derek were courteous and professional. They also tweaked our cell phones to get the maximum photo effects in the canyons. Flute music Derek played and it resonated euphoniously as we saw a pair of owls in Owl Canyon. Another employee Ty: she refused to accept any tips. She deferred to her colleagues.

Roman was a wonderful tour guide! He was very knowledgable about the canon yin and also educated us further on the Navajo which was nice. He made sure to give us time for photos and made sure people weren’t in them so we didn’t get photo bombed lol. As a plus he knew where the best shots were and he took the time out to take our picture and also take some pictures for us, it was nice because he had a story for every shot! We did the rattlesnake canyon and lower antelope canyon tour. It’s a little pricey but you get why you pay for in my opinion, I’d HIGHLY recommend this tour company.

Tour is expensive and you get rushed through the whole canyon. To be honest, the other tour companies do the same… so be ready to be rushed the whole time and be inside the canyon with about 100 people at any time. So the criticism is just not to this company but to the people who are in charge of the canyon.
The canyon itself is very beautiful and its worth seeing once in your life.

The management is terrible. They had no idea what they were supposed to do, how much we were supposed to pay, or even what time it was.
The timing is apparently a large issue. They insisted they were on mountain time, but then said our tour wasn’t starting for another full hour because they «were on mountain time, not Utah time» (FYI Utah is on mountain time).
I really recommend going to lower antelope canyon with a different group. Upper is too crowded, and this guide service is absolute trash.

I was impress with this tour. They seperate people into group of 7 — 8. Our tour guy is rick. I love him. He will tell u the camera setting /​phone setting before we enter the Canyon. While in the Canyon, he will tell u where to stand n what angel to shoot. Rick is very nice. He takes care eveyone. Take pictures for us. On the way back He also tell u what to expect on diff tour, sightseeing in Arizona. I really appreciated that. I have a fun day.

Our tour guide, Lendrick, was super helpful with camera settings so that we could get the most out of our photos in the canyon. He also gave us tips on how to take photos, as well as what to take photos of of. He was very friendly and helpful.
Reading some of the 1* reviews made me laugh. Um, this is a nature spot. And it’s a slot canyon. Things such as sand and tightness are to be expected!!!
Also, people need to learn how to take photos. I didn’t have any photo bomb issues because I knew how to angle my camera (up, not straight forward).
Also, all tour companies have different levels of tours (prime hours, photography, etc.). So do some research and make sure you are selecting the tour that best suites your needs, like I did :)

Such a beautiful place absolutely destroyed by the people who are trusted with it.
I did 2 canyons: Rattlesnake and Upper Antelope.
Rattesnake was beautiful and worthy of a visit. However, the tour was tedious and annoying. Instead of having 5 minutes to myself to look around and get a chance to take my own photos we were herded like cattle from point to point and told exactly what to do. The guide also kept taking my camera and taking his own shots. I would have liked to try to get that shot myself, thankyouverymuch. If you want something you can simply post on instagram to impress all your friends, this is your tour. If you enjoy photography and just want to experiment with the canyon, nope. Not for you. After 3 seconds in each spot you are herded to the next with the warning that the next group is coming, so hurry to have it to yourself. All told I liked the guide, I think he was just doing what he could with the time constraints given.
Now if only that was the worst of it. Upper Antelope canyon was a freaking nightmare. You pay all this money for a photographers tour, but the canyon is just a clusterfudge. You aren’t given a tour, you are just pushed back and forth trying to find gaps between other tour groups that don’t exist. There are way way way too many people crammed in this canyon. As soon as the guide finds us a spot, we pop open our tripods and then he repeats «get your shot and let’s go. get your shot and go». You can have absolutely no time. Even worst is all the guides actually fight with each other. They plead to let their group have a minute or two alone in a section, but the other guides just literally push their groups past you. Try to take a long exposure shot and the literally 15 tourists behind you ruin it taking photos with flash with their iphones all in the air.
As we were pushed back and forth in the canyon, I even had one older guide with a 3 pronged flute tell me to move so his group could take a shot and then kept walking so I was pushed in front of people in my group taking pictures.
These canyon tours are way oversold. If you think you are going to see a beautiful canyon with stunning, serene scenery, you are in for a real surprise.
Additionally, we pay almost double what the typical tour costs, but you don’t get any information. You are paying to bring a tripod into the canyon. That is the only benefit you get.
Another fun story: I paid for my tour in cash with a $ 100 bill and 4 $ 10. When I went back to my car, I realized I only had $ 20 bills left and I wanted to be able to tip my guide. I went back to the cashier and she told me with a straight face that sorry! she didn’t have any 10s. LOL.
The canyon is beautiful. It deserves better management than this. I don’t recommend your money going toward the people in charge in any way shape or form. If you must go, skip Antelopes and do Rattlesnake and Owl maybe, but pack your patience.
Skip Antelope Canyon and go to Horseshoe Bend while you are in Page instead.

Wish I could give them a good rating, but I called to book a tour. No one answered the phone so I left a message. But guess what? No one returned my call.
Oh well.

They sure do know what they’re doing. Our guide Kimberly was a wealth of knowledge about the canyon and made the trip great. She also was a generous and knowledge photographer– helping with camera settings, taking photos for people and setting up the most gorgeous shots. Antelope canyon is a popular attraction and you’ll probably find yourself in a group amongst groups, but they know how to space folks out to avoid it detracting from your experience

Overpriced (nearly $ 200 for the three of us, for less than 1 hour in LAC).
Overcrowded, but we expected that.
Underwhelming. Photos in the web look much better than the dull dark reality.
To add insult to injury, the wind blew sand into our eyes the entire time we were there.
The guy who did the hoop dance was very talented. That was the only reason I gave this company even one star.
Never again.

The Mother Nature is nature beauty that has no deny. This beauty is located in the American Indian reservation. This is a hidden gem next to Grand Canyon and it is awesome beautiful. I have seen the picture and now experience with my own eyes.
A few things before you go. You may want to make a reservation before you go. This booking usually 3 months ahead. The certain time of the day and month the beam of light is straight and shine to center of the slot canyon crack. This time slot for the reservation may need to book 6 months ahead. I would recommend you do so.
The canyon is in the desert but it is cool when you enter the slot canyon. Take the picture when you go in. You may not have another chance to come back and take it since the beam of light is moving away.
Eye protection from sand blow with the wind. The guide is very helpful and knowledgeable. There is regular tour and photography tour. Please book the peak hour tour with sunlight beam. It is awesome.

I took my mother on the tour and we had an amazing time. Kay, our guide was amazing and helped with correct camera settings for both cell phones and DSLR. We lucked out on weather as it was supposed to be cloudy with a bit of rain (a light snow fell overnight so it was brisk in the canyon). Luckily, the sun shined the entire time making great colors inside the canyon. Best times to go are 10:15 (time we went) and 12:30 during winter Kay said. Amazing experience and I could spend hours in their shooting photography. Thanks Adventurous Antelope Canyon tours!

Well worth the price paid for the prime time hour. The guide was informative, hilarious, and took the time to make sure everyone could get great pictures of the canyon.

Amazing! I am so glad we made it in time to take this tour! We lucked out and were the only three in our group so that made for a much more personal experience with our guide Melanie who was fantastic! She was able to help us with the settings of our cameras to ensure we got the best pictures possible while in the canyon and she even told us specifically where to stand to get amazing shots. She even played the flute at times during the tour which made for a really neat experience. I would highly recommend this tour and I would definitely go again.

The Antelope Canyon was ONE of the most beautiful experience in my life. It is one of the most spectacular places you must see. All the single shots were taken by me.

If the only reason you wanted to go here was to catch the beam (like me) then you might need to check the weather carefully and you would definitely need some luck. They said the best time would be in June/​July.
I was quite disappointed because we spent extra for the prime tour at 12:30, not only we didn’t see any beam, but it’s so cloudy that we couldn’t even get much sunlight to take pictures. Upper canyon is much narrower and darker than the lower canyon.
Our tour guy (forgot her name) was not even excited or helpful either. I might come back to try my luck some other time, and definitely will book with other company.

Had a really fantastic tour with this group! Dennis was our guide, and he was very knowledgable, funny, and great at suggesting the best photo ops. The canyon itself is really beautiful, and I thought it was worth the parking fee + tour fee.
Dennis was awesome at answering all of my questions about the canyon and told lots of great stories about how it was discovered, what it was used for in the past, the Navajo culture, and how the slot canyon was formed by the annual flash floods.
The walk itself was NOT difficult — my grandmother had a very easy time navigating through the canyon, and she’s 78. It was also rather cool inside — around 60 degrees, so I recommend bringing a light jacket.
Depending on the time of your tour, prices vary. I think it was between 10 — 1, adults are charged $ 40 per person, but $ 25 before and after that time.
TIP YOUR GUIDE — they do a great job with accurate info, and people tend to overlook that.

Wonderful experience and our tour guide Shannon was the best and she was awesome and showed us the best places to take pictures. And she also was nice enough to take pictures of all the groups. What a great experience and so worth the long drive for us it was about ~4 hours totally worth it.

Wonderful experience to the upper antelope canyon!
The tours are divided into regular and photographer ($ 40/​$ 80). For you fancy folks who know the difference between aperture and ISO, make sure you bring your tripod and take the photographer’s tour. They spend twice as long in the canyon and stop at all the quintessential photo spots. For you regular peeps, go to the regular tour and save $ 40. You won’t regret it!
I had the best tour guide, Jazz. She kept on cracking jokes the whole way and definitely made the whole tour much more interesting.
The tour starts with a ~10 min. drive across a lot of sand to the entrance. They have huge pickup trucks fitted with seating on the back that takes groups of about 10 people. Then you are supposed to follow your designated tour guide throughout the whole trip.
I can’t say for other tour guides, but Jazz definitely made sure the regular tour was worth the money. She is very camera-​savvy and will help you set your camera to the right settings to optimize your pictures in the canyon. She knows her way around from iPhones to DSLRs. I saw her take one person’s compact camera that was in a foreign language and go through the settings to find ISO and other settings in no time. Then inside the canyon, she makes sure to point out every photo spot and even helps you take them when time was running out. She also stops at a few places and takes group shots for everyone.
The experience would be perfect if it weren’t for the fact that the tours try to pack in like 6 different tour groups at a time. The canyon gets pretty narrow at times and you are literally plowing through oncoming traffic since you go to the end of the canyon and then come back. Now insert 60 photo crazed tourists, and the canyon just got a whole lot smaller.
I would highly recommend this tour, but if only they didn’t try to fit so many people at a time. I understand that they need to make money, but at the same time it really cuts into the experience. That’s why I’m so glad that I had such an amazing tour guide that made sure we got the most out of the tour.
