Kayak Lake Powell

This company doesn’t appear to have it’s priorities straight. Over Labor Day my boyfriend and I pulled our ski boat up to Lone Rock Beach as a giant storm was coming in. We could see the storm building for several hours when we were up lake. Having lived in Page for a combined 60 years, both of us were surprised to see a commercial kayaking trip take off from the beach when it was evident a huge storm was hitting the area.
We could immediately tell the kayakers were not local, especially when several of them started capsizing around us. My boyfriend heard someone yelling for help. It was a heavy set man with a young boy on his belly with his arms flailing. My boyfriend jumped in the water as white caps were going over their heads and handed me the little boy, who was probably 3 or 4 years old. He had a life jacket on, but it didn’t fit properly. It was way too large. The father (?) did not have a life jacket on at all. He had taken in a lot of water and was absolutely exhausted. It was difficult for me to back up our inboard boat in the wind. Finally, I got the swim platform to them just as the man was going under. He was completely white and couldn’t talk, about to go into shock. There is no doubt in my mind he, or both he and the boy, would have drown had we not been there.
We drove him back to the beach where an ambulance had already been called and was waiting. The «guide» was at the beach and claimed he didn’t know a storm was coming and that he had «lived in the area for 21 years». We could not believe he choose to have his paying customers launch at that time when he could have waited 30 minutes or so for the storm to pass. Instead he jeopardized many lives, including my boyfriends. He did not admit fault or thank us for rescuing his customers. The Park Rangers said they have had trouble with this company before and that they operated without a license until getting caught. I was told the new owner bought this company about five months ago.
There are other kayak companies in the area with better reputations. I strongly recommend you choose one of them as it is clear Kayak Lake Powell does not have its customer’s safety as their #1 priority. On a side note, we thought this woman who was watching the whole rescue process while in her kayak was a paying passenger, as she choose not to assist from 15 – 20 feet away. Come to find out she was also a «guide» for this company. Yikes.

Great place to rent Paddle boards to take with you on a houseboat. Very easy to rent online, payment is required at the time you make your reservation. Jordan was who I communicated with and he was so helpful. I made a mistake on our return date and it was not a problem. I just paid for the additional day when I picked them up.
Easy pick up and return procedure.
Can’t go wrong with this company.

I had a great time kayaking out to the Lone Rock on Lake Powell. The company provides a waterproof bag that helps out a lot. It was an easy row out with our tour guide, Jake. He took us out to «Mr. Turtle» where we all did a cliff dive/​jump which was awesome. He also helped taking pictures.
Plus, Jake looks like Chris Pratt +1

Wow adam was amazing. Really walked us through everything! Sent us to the perfect place and even though we couldn’t get the kayaks onto the rv (which is a thing, they can’t deliver to state park) he let us borrow a trailer. So stoked and had really nice gear! Great dude great business! #trampletheearth

The Antelope Canyon tour was one of the most memorable experiences we’ve ever had! We were fortunate to get out on the lake before most of the boats, so the lake was perfect glass. After a very nice trip on the water, we went on a beautiful hike in Antelope Canyon. It is not an experience you want to miss.
The environment is great, but I’d have to say that Adam, our tour guide and the business owner, made the trip phenomenal. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in getting my husband and me accustomed to the touring kayaks (we had not used that type of kayak before) and in prepping us on water safety. He made us feel confident in our capabilities with the kayaks, and before long, we were cruising the lake! Adam has a true passion for the area, and his enthusiasm was evident in the information he shared with us about the lake and surrounding areas. Also, on the hike, he cooked us some great breakfast burritos and coffee! Our enjoyment was his #1 concern; his attentiveness really made all the difference.
We’re already planning an overnight trip with Adam for June or July. I would absolutely recommend his company to anyone looking for a genuine Lake Powell experience. I’ve used other kayaking tours companies before, but this was by far the best experience yet.
I’d also add that we had to reschedule the trip for another weekend due to a family emergency, and Adam was incredibly understanding.
Some tips: definitely wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet! I used some nike running shoes that actually worked great. And if you’re getting an early start, dress in layers! Otherwise, Adam and his crew takes care of the rest!

We’ve used this business before on a previous trip and found it pretty good, but our recent experience was sadly not so great.
We wanted to book a canoe for an overnight camping trip on the Colorado. To her credit, Kat was very willing to answer questions about our trip but it did take many emails to get a correct billing estimate and booking secured. She was also unwilling to help for us with renting camping equipment — the canoes are kept at Lees Ferry Lodge (where we stayed the night before, who were very helpful) but camping gear is kept at the office in Page. Kat was unwilling to arrange for camping gear to be available at Lees Ferry Lodge for us to pick up, even though someone must have been driving that way in the two months between us making our booking and arriving at the lodge. We were on a tight schedule with our road trip and did not have time to get to and from Page to pick up/​drop off the camping gear (a 2.5 hour trip each way with the 89 detour). Kat also insisted on charging us for 3 nights rental of the gear, despite us only needing it for one night but having to pick up the night before and drop off the morning after. In the end we made other arrangements.
The canoes and gear are just left outside Lees Ferry Lodge so there’s no help with strapping it to the car etc, which we didn’t mind but it doesn’t add to the consumer experience when the rental prices aren’t that cheap. It seems that Lees Ferry Lodge do all the work for this business! Shame there aren’t many other options in the area for renting. Thank goodness the river trip was stunning and lodge and backhaul guys (Colorado River Discovery) were so helpful.

I found Kayak Lake Powell on a recent trip to antelope Canyon via Tripadvisor. There weren’t many activities in the area except Antelope Canyon and kayaking so we called ahead to reserve SUP. They were $ 45 for a half day.
Paddleboards were a bit ghetto — more noticeable when in water because the lack of buoyancy made paddling extra difficult.
1 star because the guy who helped us was rude and condescending. He also led us astray to an area with little to see and explore (go see Lone Rock). Additionally he was unhelpful when tying the boards to our car. The whole experience with him including the returns was generally awkward and unpleasant.
There are a number of other places you can rent kayaks and boards from and I would highly suggest renting through other companies instead.
