Alice in Hulaland specializes in Men’s and Women’s Clothing and hawiiana jewelry and novelties. We have lots of cool hats and bags from Goorin, Dorfman Pacific, San Diego Hat, Christy’s of London, Peter Grimm, True Religion and UBI. Bags from Big Buddha, Green Girl Eco Tote, Skunk funk, Goorin, Jet Lag and Deuxlux. Women’s clothing lines include Butterfly Dropout, Oramami, DeNang, Orion, Hard tail, Alternative Apparel, American Apparel, Tresics and Synergy. Shoe lines include Havianas, Rocket Dog, Yellow box and Minnetonkas. One of a kind handmade jewelry including Ni’ihau shell and Sunrise Shell necklaces, earrings and bracelets all locally made at great prices. Our famous Alice in Hulaland T-​Shirts made on the softest T-​shirts we can find and handmade Alice Dresses and Alice T-​Shirt Cut-​Ups only found in our store.

Established in 2002.

«Alice» opened in 2002 as a quaint boutique in Paia, Maui. Owner and buyer Stanton Cohen recently expanded the store to twice its original size. Giving us more bags, more hats, more shoes and more great shopping.

Alice in Hulaland was established 8 years ago in Paia, Hawaii. The owner and buyer Stanton Cohen wanted to create a place for everyone to shop. Tourist can come in to buy local made hawaiianna jewelery and latest fashion. For the locals we have great beach cover-​ups, bags, and womans and mens clothing. We recently expanded the store to twice its original size. We are excited about our upcoming website where people all over the world can order «Alice» T-​shirts. We are now on Facebook!

First of all there’s this old guy that is super creepy & was telling me perverted jokes which was not professional and also not funny. Second of all I was being followed where I was walking trying to look around. But the guy was the worst part. I feel like he’s looking at my butt the whole time. I hope that store burns in flames.

This place has outstanding customer service. I live on Oahu and visited their store and realized when I got back home I got the wrong size shirt. I simply called Jennifer and she was so awesome and let me mail exchange the shirt for the correct size! I am so grateful because this shirt is a gift for someone and I have never had such amazing customer service ever! Thank you guys so much you made MY day

0 STARS. Came in a few days ago, December 6th. The merchandise is all pretty overpriced but that’s to be expected in a tourist town. What really bothered me was the fact that the old white man at the desk sent some of his employees after me, following me around and pretending to look at shirts. When that wasn’t enough he started bothering me and following me around himself. It honestly made me really uncomfortable and made the entire experience really awful. I could tell that he thought that I was stealing which in itself is really offensive and the way that after bothering me for several minutes, he decided to approach me and ask to «hold» my stuff for me. He acted as though it was a courtesy to me but it was obvious that he thought that I was going to steal these items, a handbag and soap. It was after that that I decided to leave because I felt really uncomfortable and no longer wanted to shop there nor give him my business. Unfortunately I did end up purchasing what I had come for but only because I had come back from an earlier visit to get the items and was really excited to get them, and that’s when this happened. To be honest their merchandise is not really worth the insulting experience and I recommend you get the same exact items elsewhere perhaps for a cheaper price. 0 stars. Disgusted.

Very cute place in Paia. Unlike other reviewers I felt the store clerks were quite helpful.
Their clothes are a bit overpriced unless you live in Maui/​a warm climate and want to invest in something a bit more hip. I live in the much more hipster and much colder Montréal so buying clothes there didn’t make a ton of sense (though I was tempted).
However I bought a very cute pair of sunglasses there and they have an awesome and reasonably proced patch/​sticker selection. Overall I thought it was a cute place with character and ended up grabbing a couple of things.

Don’t come in here with a big bag… they may think you’re coppin ish.

Instead of picking up low quality souvenirs, stop in here and enjoy browsing through the unique and entertaining offering of clothing and more. With something for everyone, you’re guaranteed to find something you’ll actually love than something that sits in the back of the closet. And the staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing.

Saying that Hawaiian hipsters shop here should be enough to tell you that this store is pretentious, overpriced, snotty and unoriginal. What is it about island life that necessitates a hipster mentality? Isn’t that the OPPOSITE of what it’s all about? Being relaxed, easy going, accepting, uncaring of material things is what it’s really all about, so yeah this store doesn’t quite jive with the real feel of Maui.
Same crap you can get elsewhere at 5 times the price, total tourist trap, one of those places that people who have no idea about real life (and the value of a dollar) can say «OMG I was totally there!» Congrats, you got scammed. Rude staff, tye-​die skirts that cost $ 150 (actual price — $ 25 anywhere else). pics of dead and bygone celebrities extolling the virtue of the store. Pass by the window, that’s about all you need.

I was hopeful and excited as I was about to enter the store. I saw someone’s shirt the other day, and he said, «I got it at Alice in Hulaland!» I thought it was a great shirt, so I decided to stop by and give a visit. Standing outside the store, it looked great and I was excited to go to such a unique shop.
The shop does have great little trinkets and is wonderfully decorated. but…
I walked in, and two girls were standing there talking to each other. They looked at me and didn’t say anything (just as another review states). I’m from O’ahu, and perhaps it’s the Maui thing to do-​to ignore people, but it was unsettling. I even looked back at one girl a couple of times to see if she would acknowledge me, and she just looked right past me, as if I was never there. The same thing happened to me at Mana Foods just up the street and maybe they’re just tired of tourists. I heard Maui has changed for the bad, and this visit certainly helped enforce this opinion.
I almost bought something, but I felt so unwelcome that I left without purchasing anything. As I was walking out, one girl called out, «Have a nice day…»
I left Paia immediately after that-​the whole town seems a little.snobby. Wailuku and Hana have much better energy. :)

Love love love love love, favorite shopping spot on Maui. The element of surprise, unique items at every turn, is what makes this place fun. My husband was at the bar, and completely uninterested in joining my shopping any longer that day. But when I told him about this hat I saw there that was totally him, totally unique and not something you would ever find elsewhere, he checked it out. And he bought the hat.

Our go to «Paia» tshirt spot! They’re so soft… and love their simple designs. Make sure you get one size up if you do get some since they tend to shrink.
Friendly folks! Though the shirts are not cheap… They’re soft but definitely not soft in the wallet!
We’ll definitely be back!

Horrible customer service. They do not stand by their products, even defective merchandise.
Recently I purchased several hundred dollars worth of clothes from there and one item after washing it per instructions developed a small hole in the sleeve with some discoloration as well. Defective for sure.
I called to let them know that the product was defective, was told by a very nice girl to bring in the item for exchange. When I did bring it in I was told by the manager (blonde dread-​locks) «this is over a month old, I can’t do anything about it.» I asked her to look through the telephone logs to see that I had called in about it only after maybe 2 weeks after purchase. She just stared at me. I told her that I don’t live near Paia and was told to bring it in the next time I was in the area. I had the receipt.
She refused to exchange the item… stating over and over that I purchased it over a month ago. I can’t understand why that was such an excuse. Why does that matter? The top still is discolored and has a hole in it. I explained that I have shopped there for years and I would appreciate a simple straight exchange. Surely the same item can’t be defective as well?
Nope…no way. So I guess I’ll never shop there again! I really hope the owner Stanton Cohen reads these… Stan, you must have better customer service and stand by your products. A defective product it out of your control but to make a customer happy IS in your control. Unfortunately, I will tell everyone not to shop there. Boo on Alice in Hulaland.

Lots of character packed in this tiny store. Ukeleles, funky purses and tops, Paia tees and an assortment of island vibe goods are the order of the day here but I am way too old to be able to pull off any of this stuff. So I walked out of there with a ukelele that’s not really representative of anything in this store but I felt that I needed to at least get something to support a shop that might have been my style a decade or so ago. BTW they had a nice selection of bongs in a glass case that would make Woody Harrelson drool.

This was a really cute shop. It was a great way to kill some time before heading to the airport to go home.
The prices seemed reasonable and it’s quite a large shop — with a large sale selection in the back. Lots of t-​shirts and beach hats, and come really cool purses.
I think hipsters will be in hipster heaven here. I didn’t purchase anything but I enjoyed walking around. The staff was cool = and not pushy which I appreciate.

Cute little funky boutique in Paia town! Lots of unique clothes, hats, and jewelry. Definitely worth checking out. The girls who work there are nice, and the shop has a small town vintagey yet «out there» feel to it. It’s a special little shop and you’ll be able to find unique gifts and tees here like nowhere else… my faves: PAIA tees, shredded tees, local jewelry in the front case, and a vintage patent black square bag from the 1940s. Tres chic!

Where all the Hawaiian sister hipsters shop!
Alice in Hulaland has the best selection of their icon t-​shirts in vibrant colors, textures, even customizable shredded ones. Kitschy is done right, lady Hawaiian style in its racks of trendy tops as well as some its second hand pieces and reduced price tees are worthy to snap up.
There are lots of other random hulagirl nick knacks and accessories to add the funk.
I absolutely will continue to gush about this little hipster Hawaiian shop even long after having been it.

Chic boutique meets quaint island village. The owner must have been an L.A. transplant or something, because this place is stylin’. Clever name, too. I got myself an incredibly soft cotton tank with a screenprint of a wave and a skeleton surfer on it for like $ 35 or something, marked down 40% from it’s original price. Yes, pricey for a tank, but I’ll shell out the buckaroonies for some unique threads.
They had cute one-​off a la’ super lucky cat style tube dresses made of recycled old t-​shirts, many of which had screen prints of Bob Marley on them. I would have gotten one if I didn’t already overspend on my travel budget. I also noticed they had a bunch of stogies and rolling papers behind the cashier table. Hmmmm. wonder what that’s for? Ha ha, not for me, but I thought it was pretty cool that this upscale boutique didn’t have that «too cool for you» vibe, as evident by their sale of contraband.
Fellow fashionistas and Maui Wowie lovers alike can therefore shop in harmony here!
