Alexian Brothers Medical Group

The other night I was in need of medical assistance. Long story short, I accidentally cut my thumb to the point where it was bleeding profusely. This happened roughly around 8:10pm or so. I ended up calling Alexian brothers off northwest highway in palatine to find out how late they were open and if they’d be able to help. The staff member over the phone said that they were open until 830pm and that they could help as long as I get there before 830. I live pretty much just around the corner, so I ended up driving over. I arrived at 826pm. I looked in to see the staff members notice me parking then quickly rush to the back of the establishment. Seconds later, as I got out of my car, they shut off the lights. Seeing as they were supposed to be open for another 4 minutes, I went over to knock on the door. No one came out from the back. Frustrated and bleeding, I went back to my car. As I started my car, I saw the staff members peak around the corner to make sure I was leaving. I would have gotten out of the car again to give them a piece of my mind, but I didn’t have the energy and I’m not that confrontational. I ended up driving over to medspring urgent care in Arlington heights where the staff was incredibly friendly and professional. They took care of me and were very efficient in doing so. The doctor was very knowledgeable and patched me up in a timely manner. If you’re ever in need of urgent medical help, go there. Instead of locking the door on you, they’ll take care of you.

Went there w kid in tow bc he got injured at school. This was the closest urgent care. Took us right away but the «nurse» had a flat affect. No personality whatsoever. Asked me all the questions (I wasn’t the patient) kept his back to my kid (the patient). Blah blah blah. He needed an X-​ray. Great. Then comes in the nurse practitioner that looks like Keith Richards from the Stones. How unprofessional it looked with his scraggly ratty hair, jewelry hanging out onto his hairy chest and rings on every finger. How does one get away with looking like that at work? Needless to say, I could have dx my son and not wasted over an hour there. A simple splint and go see the ortho. Gee thanks, couldn’t have figured that out myself. I had the discharge papers in hand before the splint was put on. What a rush job. And they forgot a cd of the X-​rays. I was fortunate enough to wait a good half hour while they burned it for me. Skip it this place and go to the ER.

This place is great! My daughter had an ear infection, so at 11am, I scheduled an appointment at 3pm online. Not 2 minutes later, the nurse called asknng us to come in right away, as she understands how painful an ear infection is. We went in; all our papers were ready when we walked in. I signed the papers, we waited all of 5 minutes, and were then seen. The RN was fantastic with my young daughter and the NP quickly diagnosed her and called in her prescription. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!

I used the feature called «Inquicker» and set up an appointment on my home computer before I went into the office. That was a HUGE MISTAKE. When I went in for my «appointment» I checked in at the desk and then the nursing staff forgot about me, so I sat in the waiting room for an hour. I was so sick that I didn’t get up and question them and then they called me to the desk and asked me to come back at 4:30 p.m.!! No one even noticed I had been there for an hour. I started crying I felt so terrible. I was put in a room where I was attended by a helpful male nurse but still did not see the doctor for another two hours. The doctor finally came in and talked to me for about ten minutes.

I have been here three times. Each time gets worse. The staff is rude and the doctors are even more rude. They don’t seem to ever help and it always feels like they are rushing. I will not waste my time or money going there again.

After setting up my appointment online the nurse from this clinic called to tell me that their doctor was a family medicine practitioner and therefore unable to see me for a women’s health issue and recommended I go to the emergency room even though I had an urgent but non-​emergent issue. That’s ridiculous, 1) family medicine practitioners see women’s health appointments frequently and 2) the immediate care clinic that I ended up being seen at told me that what I was coming in for was a common issue for them to see and that it was no trouble for them to diagnose and treat. Basically my impression of this the clinic in Palatine is that the doctor just didn’t want to deal with my particular case and then had the nurse call with a story to give me. I would not recommend the Palatine ABMG clinic to anyone.

Every time I come here, I end up having to come right back. I come here when I am sick because it’s super close. Usually they will tell me that I have a virus and that I will be fine in a few days. A week later, I am feeling the same, if not worse. So, I have to go back for them to tell me that I have either strep or its bacterial. THEN they give me the antibiotics I need. After my second visit there. This is every single time I go to them. Then I get outrageous bills and when I pay them, they still send me the same bill and call me for a payment! This happens all the time to me here and I’m going elsewhere from now on. This is getting ridiculous. Why get charged twice every single time I come here when they should just help me the first time. Seems like a scam when I walk through the doors.

I had a crazy amount of pain in my foot and Achilles tendon, so I drove over to Alexian Brothers as they are the closest immediate care. It was night time, about an hour before their closing. Which soon became apparent.
They rushed me into the room so the nurse could take my blood pressure and all that jazz. The nurse was very nice, but that’s all I can say that went right. When the doctor finally came in, she was in a bad mood and wasn’t really listening to what I was telling her. When she asked me about a symptom I would give her an answer, but before I was finished, she would ask a question as if my medical emergency was a speed round on a game show.
She finally concluded that she could not help me because there aren’t any X-​rays at Alexian Brothers. She then looked up what my condition could potentially be on the internet. She had a couple guesses and then said «See a podiatrist.»
But the most jaw-​dropping thing I’ve ever heard from a professional of any sort was, «Now that I told you what you needed to hear, can I go now?» I had the feeling of somebody that was rushed through a one-​night stand.
I now have an outrageous charge that Blue Cross and myself have to fight. They did nothing but insult me and now I have a crazy bill. As other medical professional friends have said, «Welcome to healthcare.»
I probably would have received better medical treatment at the Italian place next door.
