First of all, we signed up with another security company and then Monitronics took over. No letter. No phone call. Nada. Then Zone 0 low battery. there is no battery. It’s plugged in. we tell them this and nothing resolved. they asked us to take off the cover. No it didn’t work. Constant phone calls at various times. Nothing. Then, we move. We provided info the new owners. It’s up to them, right? Well, they tell us we have to continue to pay on our «contract». I don’t live there anymore. Really, making me pay for poor customer service, poor communication and now for when I’m not there. I’m wondering if it really worked if we truly had an emergency. Now that i read the rest of the reviews. I wonder even more.

Monitronics is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Dishonest, unresponsive to calls and the most dishonest billing ever. They rob you because they are crooks.

If I can give Monotronics a big fat 0 stars I would!!! The service is pure garbage!!! I have tried to cancel my service for many years and I couldn’t because the process was so hard and they make it so difficult. I finally was able to cancel it with the help of a friend of mine who was a lawyer. DO NOT USE MONOTRONICS!!!

We have been customers of Monitronics security supplier for over 8 years … It has been a very very good experience. I compared with my Nieghbor who has another supplier and they have trouble all the time … We had a upgrade due to us — Monitronics sent a contractor who was the best — this guy Fransisco knew all the checks and was very thorough — he was polite and thoughtful to us in our home. This company does what it is suppose to do at a reasonable cost to the consumer — thumbs up!!!

i’m not even going to go not umpteen problems I’ve had with this company, i will sum it all up simply — COMPLETE AND TOTAL GARBAGE!

* Pressure sales and upgrade tactics
* Long contracts with horrible service
* Sub Par hardware
* … and don’t even think about calling support — nothing is every their fault.
I wouldn’t take this system if it was free. I just paid hundreds of dollars and cancelled just to be rid of them. I look at it as, I bought them out of my life forever.

On 5÷27÷15, I called Monotronics to close my account on 6÷03÷15 and explained that I sold my home and was moving. At that time, I was told to send a letter to the «move department» and that it may take 30 days to close my account in full. When I asked why and if I would be billed in full, the agent said I would receive the final bill on 6÷15÷15. Since my payments were being debited from my checking account, I was concerned about being charged for a full month again. Anyway, I sent the letter to the «move department» and hoped for the best. I received a letter on 6÷19÷15 from stating that my services had ended on 6÷03÷15 along with thanking me for being a valued customer.
After reviewing my checking account I noticed a debit on 6÷17÷15 for the next service period which began on 6÷15÷15 through 7÷15÷15. When I called to ask why I was being charged for service at a house I no longer live in, I was told that the cancellation process takes 30 days from the time the letter is received by the «Move Department»…really? The agent also said the letter was not received until 6÷22÷15 so I could expect another billing and then a final bill. I told him my service ended on 6÷3÷15 so what am I paying for? I was transferred to the «Move Department» where I was told that the process to close an account was typically handled by the «Cancellation Team» via a telephone call to the customer but since I was already on the phone, I could be transferred. When I spoke with the agent from the «Cancellation team» he seemed to have no idea why I was transferred so I recapped my issue and expected him to follow some formal close process to cancel my account. The agent was rude and told me it takes 30 days to close the account and the I would continue being billed until the 30 days elapsed. I hung up with him and contacted the BBB then my bank to dispute the charges.

Horrible company to do business with. Avoid them at all costs. Multiple false alarms, and huge hassles cancelling the service.

Spent an unbelievable amount of time on hold for customer service. Got shuttled among multiple people, for each of whom I had to explain my issue over and over again. After about fifty minutes of increasing frustration, someone finally told me that I would have to write them a letter to explain why I wanted to cancel my account.
Absolutely atrocious experience. Stay away from this company.

I used Monitronics home alarm system for several years. One day the alarm started to sound the error message with continuous beeping. When I called the tech supports, without any reason, the man on the line started yelling at me for no reason. I figured he has a bad day, and didn’t bother to file a complaint. However, in his annoying tone he confirmed that the alarm battery is due, and the replacement would take two weeks to deliver to me, at the cost of three times what Radio Shack would charged. Since we can’t bear the annoying «beeping» a day longer, we have another alarm company installed a new system the following day. When I called Monitronics to cancel the services. They informed me that there would be another 30 days service charge from the day of canceling the services, and they needed me to write a letter to make it official. Well, the check has been sent and again they want another $ 6.74 late fee. Clearly these people are out to punish you and rob you. Don’t do it!
