Established in 1996.

Saddlers Row is one of the largest, full-​service English saddle shops in the United States. We offer a full range of apparel, equipment, health care products, and services.

In addition, Saddlers Row is fortunate to have Judi Berninger, a professional Saddle Fitter qualified by the Society of Master Saddlers, UK, available to provide advice on saddle fitting.

Great place for riding clothing and accessories. My daughter is attending a 2 week horseback riding camp this summer, and Vicky was super helpful in making sure my daughter had the right items. No sales pressure; just great customer service and nice selection. I’ve come here a few times already and it’s always been a good experience.

I love Saddler’s Row and have been shopping there for years. They have a huge selection and super knowledgable sales help. I especially like the unique gift items. The best though is the blanket cleaning service. Mine blankets were embarrassing but they came back stitched & looking brand new. I’m never going back to the laundromat!

My daughter’s riding teacher recommended we come to Saddlers Row for her riding gear (usually go to another store), and we were glad we did!
The friendly staff were so great while helping fit her for boots and ½ chaps, and we found 2 shirts and 2 pair of breaches in the consignment area for an amazing price-​and all were like new! I am impressed and will continue to take her back here for all of riding needs!

I’m updating to review that I did eventually get paid for the saddle sale — but it took a lot of phone calls, there were a lot of excuses made, and it took months. I still think they’re a good place to buy horse products and they have a good selection, I just wouldn’t go the consignment route as the seller with them. I ended up selling the other saddle I got from them through eBay and it was much, much faster.

Always love my trips to Saddler’s Row — I drive almost an hour to get there so you know it’s worth it. They do a beautiful job washing and repairing blankets. You carry a huge variety of horse related supplies for all disciplines. The staff is always friendly and helpful!

We needed a special size riding boot for our daughter. We had not had any luck in our area or online. Saddlers Row was recommended by a family friend. We have not had such amazing shopping experience in many years. We were greeted warmly and attended to right away. Upon explaining our needs we were helped by the owner herself. She showed our 12 year old daughter such kindness and empathy it was amazing. I could not not write about our experience since it was so wonderful. One can only wish for more small businesses and large to have such kindness and knowledge.

This place rocks! My sales person was Sara. She helped us in every way to find what my wife was looking for in a saddle.
The best part is that the sales staff seem to really know their stuff. Its hard to find customer service like this any more. We were in one store and no one approached us. Not here… Everyone smiled and greeted us when we walked in. The store was very clean and it’s huge, so it has everything you need. My wife saw a new saddle over there but I talked her out of buying it right away– said «let’s wait a bit»
She had a birthday coming up and I wanted to surprise her. I called up, asked for Sara and she remembered me and my wife and she is sending her the exact saddle. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY

If there was a way for this to be negative I would do it. My very expensive riding boots did not fit and I took them for some adjustments. That was SIX months ago. Since then I have heard every excuse in the book and I am never given the courtesy of a returned phone call.
I am at the end of my rope and communicated that to the owner who has been «working «on this. Looks like an attorney is next with a stop at the better business bureau.

This place has a pretty good selection of equestrian items available, but I do not care for the snooty staff.
I went to exchange a pair of boots that cut VERY unevenly (one fit very snug and the other very loose). They accepted the return but in the process made it a point to tell me, «The boots are exactly the same. You must have weird feet.» Yes. They said that. I kid you not.
They made a big deal about me exchanging the boots for a different pair and insisted upon WATCHING me try on several other pairs they had. After actually showing them how poor the uniformity of the boots was and how uneven they were cut, the salesperson «helping» me (but not really helping) informed me: «Well, that’s what you get for buying cheap boots.» Not an apology for carrying bad merchandise. Not an apology for the trouble I went to to give them my money. They insult my boot budget. Nice.
So, all-​in-​all: I exchanged a pair of boots. The quality was so bad that I would have just returned them and gone elsewhere, but they only offered me store credit. They insulted my feet (which is something people can totally control, right?!), and called me cheap. I don’t need their attitude, and so they obviously won’t be getting my business.

Have been coming here for a number of years and have to say that this is the place for all equestrian needs. The beat part here is their knowledge and guidance provided by the staff. They know everything and will help guide you in the right direction for your needs. Check their website and Facebook pages to see of they have one of their special sales. Also they have a great consignment department for used saddles, trunks and other stuff if you’re not looking for new. I’d happily refer them to anyone for their equestrian needs.

I gave Saddler’s Row my daughter’s saddle to sell on consignment. On February 21, 2013 I received a phone call that there was an interested party for said saddle. We came to an agreement on the amount for the sale. Saddler’s Row informed I would receive payment within 30 days of the phone call. It is now April 5, 2013. I have not yet received any payment for the saddle they sold. I have called them 3 times regarding their payment to me and I keep getting the run around from them. I have to assume they have no intentions of making payment to me for the saddle they have sold. My next step is to involve my attorney.

Great selection with a good selection of stuff for beginners and a very nice store.
However, some of the staff has an uppity attitude sometimes when you are looking at cheaper products. I’m a beginner and don’t want to invest $$$$ and found the attitude to be a turn off, but the staff knew their stuff. I’ll probably be back.

I’ve been lured here several times by the prospect of a good sale, only to find that the sale wasn’t that great at all. The last sale I went to was in their warehouse, and while their flyer promised great deals on hundreds of items, the selection was extremely limited. I ended up picking up a few other things I needed, but none of it was on sale. Their prices, overall, are expensive compared to sites online. Every once in a while you can find a good deal. I’ve never purchased my tack or saddles from there so I can’t vouch for that experience. But for smaller items I recommend you go someplace else.

As a client that has been shopping at Saddler’s Row since the VERY beginning, I am quite shocked to see the reviews below. I have always found that the inventory has been plentiful, the staff incredibly knowledgeable on the ever changing products in the store, and Frances has always bent over backwards to try to make my experiences better… did I mention that I am not a client that can drop a ton of money every time I step into the store? That has never mattered… the staff has always been equally delightful and responsive to me. That’s why I drive an HOUR out of my way to get my horse supplies here. Consider me a client for life.

We love to support local businesses, and Saddler’s Row is a hike — almost an hour from me. However, it’s absolutely the best tack store in Chicago; huge inventory, very helpful staff. I needed virtually everything as a first time horse owner, and found the staff to be spot on in suggestions. They didn’t push me into more expensive items; they listened; they suggested. Prior to this large purchase, I’d been going twice a year for breeches, boots, a helmet, etc… and the staff always recognized me and acknowledged me. They are wonderful for boot fitting, specialty engraved and monogrammed items, etc. I can only think of one time they were out of an item, and they brought it in from their other location and shipped it to me. A first class store.

I’ve been a happy customer for years, but was very disappointed today when I picked up a dressage saddle I had taken in for a minor repair. One of the flaps was bent, to the extent that it no longer hands flat, and there are creases in the knee roll. The padding in the knee roll is now lumpy. I pointed this out to the woman helping me, and tried to smooth the flap down in the store, to no avail. She went to Frances the owner, who apparently also tried to smooth it down, but who was ultimately indifferent to my situation. No acknowledgment of the problem, no apology and no remedy were forthcoming.
I wish they had taken decent care of the saddle I left in their care.

I brought my two daughters here for gear for their first riding lessons this summer. They have a really nice program for new riders: a discount card good for 15% off start up gear: boots, gloves, jodhpurs or breeches, etc. We had a great experience from a very attentive saleslady who helped the girls pick stuff out, we didn’t feel any pressure to get more or upgrade or anything like that. Super nice. Reasonable prices for starter gear.
Came back the next week for helmets and had an entirely different experience when I steered the kiddos toward the $ 20 starter Troxel rather than the more expensive schmancier ones, so I don’t doubt the 2-​star reviews.
I’m inclined to go 3 ½ stars at this point. I’ll update should I feel differently one way or the other.

Avoid this place during its christmas and summer tent sale because no matter how great the sales are it is not worth waiting in an hour line to pay! Plus they are always out of things like ariat paddock boots. Anne Hubbards may be small but at least that store is always filled with everything one would want. I’d rather have boots and a small store than a large store with 60 different halters and other useless items and no ariats

I only go here because I know they have an excellent selection, and if you’re making a big purchase you WILL get help. When i bought my saddle here, they treated me like gold. Actually, I’ve purchased almost all of my tack here. However, every trip isn’t to buy a $ 200 helmet or a $ 3,000 saddle. With that said, you don’t get much respect when you come in to buy the everyday items, i.e. sponges, buckets, stirrup inserts, etc. It’s not like anything is really that cheap (it IS a tack shop, after all!) however, i would like a friendly attitude, and I would like to be remembered when i make little purchases, too. They think they’re great because the store is huge and they’re the only game in town. However, people can order online and if they keep up their snotty attitude, they’ll put themselves right out of business.

Did not care for the uppity attitude from the ladies working the shop. We were here looking for a tag along for my son, found it cheaper with shipping online.
They were able to order Stubben’s but did not have any in stock at the time I was there — not sure but I sensed you needed to put a deposit down as well. I eventually got a Tristan Stubben a whole mess cheaper elsewhere — I would never go back here — been here 4 or so times and never had a good experience.
They do have a great 1950s Western Coin Op Horse with sound effects free for the riding that my son loved.
