DELICIOUS!!! Casual and chill atmosphere and great friendly service. I had the Chicken Ravioli and it was crushing!!! My girl had the shrimp crêpe and it was just as good if not better. I will be returning any time I’m in the palm dessert area…

This is just the kind of place I love. Good food always well prepared not overly trendy. It was our first time in so the waiter took time to suggest several dishes. The caramelized apple tart for dessert was homemade and delicious. We don’t live in the desert but when we do return this will be our go to place.

Intimate place, but was a bit cold on a Monday morning. I had the traditional eggs benedict and the eggs were overcooked. The hollandaise did not have any zing to it and was super thick. For $ 12.95 it was okay but I felt that a French café should be able to nail the dish. Bummer.

C’est tres bon! Sweet French restaurant recommended to us by golfers we were paired with. They have been coming here for March for 20 years and said they always dine here each visit. We came for lunch, and the café was busy with only a few open tables. Great service. Menu had many traditional French bistro items and some very creative salads and fare. I had scallops wrapped in bacon over lentil and tomato salad – fantastic. The lentils were perfectly cooked and mixed with very finely chopped onions, green pepper, carrots and blended with a lemon vinaigrette. Will try to make on my own, so good. My dining partner had ham and cheese crepes with fresh fresh fruit – divine. Warm and good rolls too. Voila!

This is a great place to have breakfast simple French menu. We had the spinach frittata, which was awesome. We shared it, they charge 2.00 to split the plate but it does come with extra potatoes. Overall the service was good with some of the hardest working bus boys around.

Just walked in for breakfast and waitress yelled at us and said 10 minute wait. She scared us with her voice and attitude. We asked if we could sit at bar and eat. She said no a 10 minute wait. Not many people in the place. I was in shock and stood there for a minute and left. Would not go back if it was free.

Wanted to take my mom to a nice meal for her birthday. But it was a Very disappointing meal :(we didn’t have a reservation, so we were sat outside on patio with a heater. Where the sat us the vinyl plastic tenting had a big 5 inch gap. So it had quite a cold breeze due to being 45 degrees outside. So we asked our waiter to turn the heater up. He did. But a few minutes later the owner/manager turned it down and we were freezing again. I guess he didn’t want to melt his plastic patio covering. I ordered a peach schnapps with 7-up and the waiter said they didn’t serve that. Ok. So I asked for water. 5 minutes later my peach schnapps showed up. He said they found some. If they don’t serve it often they really should check for the expiration dates. It was a rancid tasting drink :(. After 20 minutes of receiving our drink our waiter finally took our dinner order and thankfully he turned the heater back up for us because I was ready to leave with out ordering dinner. My mom ordered scallops, my step-dad ordered the sea bass special, my 6 year old daughter ordered noodles with marinara, and I ordered their red trout special. All were lacking flavor. I really expected more from a French restaurant with good reviews on Unilocal. For dessert we ordered the banana crêpe. It was pretty good. Honestly the service was lacking and slow. I think we would have gotten better service inside with a reservation. Our waiter was rarely around because we were his only table on the patio. So this place was a major birthday dinner strike out.

Best escargot around. Most places just barely passable. On par w/Imperial Dynasty that was honored to be asked to prepare their famous escargot for Pres Reagan’s inauguration– if memory serves me. Service terrific & friendly. Staff take good care of you whether you’re a reg or not, dressed up or coming after a long day work; I like that! Bread yummy & nice bar. Salads very tasty & interesting.

Have finally had more than a couple of meals here and everything is just ridiculously good! From the frittatas for breakfast to the French onion soup and mussels and clams for dinner! The scallops and lintels are out of this world! Staff is all great, but the bartender Jim is the best in the valley! Great ambiance and location.

I don’t really now how to describe this horrible food! Don’t let the French environment to fool you there is nothing French or close to the French cuisine here!!! I order beef stroganoff linguine-Ohh boy never had such a chew pcs of beef in my life and I don’t think that to cook it with pickles(yes small pickles still inside the dish) is making it better. My wife’s salad(beaux salad) was a joke . The lettuce is about 5 days old and the seasoning just make it worse-the dish look and taste so cheap like a side Salde from Burger King.

We had a really pleasant meal here. The ambiance was nothing special, most of the inside area is a bar and a few booths and the rest of the seating is outside in a covered patio. Service however was fast and attentive. The menu contained all of the classic French dishes that one would expect and my dinner companions partook in several of them — Duck a L’Orange, Trout Almondine and Braised Shortribs Bourguinonne. The portions were all very generous and from what I could tell, were well prepared, although the duck looked a little overcooked. I wasn’t as anxious to partake in a heavy meal so I had grilled scallops and prawns on a spinach salad with a warm balsamic dressing. The portion was large and delicious. Given the restaurants El Paseo location the menu prices are extremely reasonable. Café Des Beaux Art is also extremely popular so I would recommend a reservation if you are any party greater than 2.

Came here on Easter Sunday for brunch. The restaurant looked busy but there were still a few open tables here and there so that we didn’t have to wait. We sat in the patio area and I really liked the décor here. Nice and rustic, feels almost as if you were eating out in a flower garden or something. We ordered the quiche and the crab cake benedict. These were both pretty delicious. The quiche was nice and fluffy and not too heavy. The crab cakes were good and you could actually taste the crab. The portions were perfect… enough to fill you up but not too much to bring you over the edge. My only complaint was that our server was not very friendly. Not sure if it’s just the way he talks or maybe he was having a rough day, but when he came to take our order and to serve us our food he sounded like he was yelling at us o. O «OK, QUICHEWHERE?!» Overall, 3.5 stars

This is a very cool French style café with a European menu. Had some good chicken and mushroom crepes. The crepes were served warm, buttery, thin, moist, and the perfect texture and size. The filling had nice bits of chicken and mushroom witha buttery sauce which would’ve been great with a nicedry white winethough I had a coke. My friend’s brie and ham sandwich on French bread was a classic,. The bread was toasted, the ham was warm, and the brie melted. The clientele are generally well dressed locals, tourists and business people. Some of the men reminded me of Gilligan Insland’s Thurston Howell III with casual but pressed slacks or shorts, and really nice shirts. Their wives or girfriends were nicely dressed as well. The nice retired couple next to us liked their food and said they dine here regularly. One had the curry chicken salad and the wife had crab salad. Both said theirs were good, but not great. Their service was attentive, the wait staff. really work well together to give is a 4 star experience. There are no parking meters anywhere. We were two regular tourists who walked around downtown looking for a cool place to eat that wasn’t too expensive or too crowded. It was ML King holiday. With the Unilocal app, we we found this place. Immediately, I was interested because I speak a little French and noticed the cool vibe. There is no pretentious décor. There are some cool posters and knick knacks. Definitely French bourgeois inspired, Tables are close together, but almost every table is taken. The a/c is on but the windows are open to take advantage oft he perfect 72 degree January weather. We got seated right away. You could smell some fish salads and other seafood like crabcakes. Most of the clientele are drinking wine and kicing back. Then a sales woman walks by tables with starts pitching dresses in some boutique. I heard from the woman next to us that some restaurants in the Plam Springs area have even more aggressive sales pitchers during lunchand dinner. Definitely something to remember. As mentioned above, the food was good as was the service. Things are a little pricey, and lunch was about $ 20 for each of us before tax and tip. But the service was really good and friendly. Some Mexican staffers kept on calling their co worker busboy«Gringo» which made all the white guys turn their heads«Who me?: ha ha. There is entertainment on Sat.nights. Would definitely go back again, with or without Gringo.

At least in terms of the physical set up, a charming little café in the hot, muggy monsoon season of August on the edges of the hostile Sonoran desert. The covered patio section of Café des Beaux Arts is a genteel mélange of the well worn & comfortable with a bit of old style romance in the European sense. The male host & servers were genial & helpful, but discrete enough to keep a private distance. So far so good, but unfortunately, at least in my estimation there is a terrible lack of proficiency in the running of the kitchen. Initially I asked the host, who asked me if I wanted an apperitif, what would be a good crisp, white wine by the glass appropriate for the humid weather, he suggested a Pinot Grigio which sounded quite reasonable to me. I took a sip, and the Pinot Grigio tasted as though it came out of a box. At $ 9 per glass, I’ve had far better quality of wine, and so this was the omen of the things to come. 1) The epi bread that came out was apparently over warmed in the microwave so that the bread in the basket came out tough, chewy, & rubbery. You had to hold down the piece of the bread with your teeth at the same time yanking the bread with your fingers to obtain a piece of the bread. 2) I ordered the Canard a l’Orange which was half a roast duck in orange sauce that was accompanied by a bit of julienned steamed vegetables, a pipette of mashed potatoes, & a creamed spinach infused with some kind of cheese. The sides were OK. The duck looked very good with a nice glazing of the orange sauce. My knife cut into the very dense & meaty duck which signaled an A-OK. I took a bit into the duck with its good textures, but my tastebuds sensed that the oils in the duck had gone rancid, not to the point of inedibleness, yet enough to rate an inferior rating to the meal. I realize that the duck had been precooked & placed in the refrigerator, ready to be taken out to be finished(oven baked) when an order comes in. Most restaurants will do that or the fresh cooking of the duck could take over an hour. I’m not complaining about that, but the chef & kitchen should know by labeling the prepped duck by date so that a duck doesn’t stay too long & get rancid in the fridge. I will assume the kitchen overlooked my duck for many days, and finally fished it out of the refrigerator old & rancid. I ordered a Syrah by the glass to pair with the Canard a l’Orange, but again for $ 8.50, the Syrah was rather lackluster. Interestingly, the 2 staff members at different times asked me how my meal was, and I didn’t want to make a scene so I said, it was ok, but just as I was about to add something, they left as soon as they had inquired about the meal as if they knew what was coming. I was asked if I wanted dessert, but by then I had had enough. I wasn’t about to be a glutton for punishment with another culinary fiasco. When I was about to leave & give a comment to the host, he had conveniently disappeared when I saw him only a minute before.(Could be a coincidence.) Just as I was about to exit the door, a blonde woman was manning the bar. As a courtesy, I said, «Good Night». She looked at me as though she had better things to do, and with a blasé look on her I couldn’t be bothered face told me good night. I really think that Café des Beaux Arts has great potential. The male staff is congenial, & service is acceptable. They need to up their game to improve the flavours, FRESHNESS, & savoriness of the food that they prepare. Also quality control should be high on their list. Perhaps, an internally supervised«Restaurant Makeover» is the cure for the problems in the kitchen. Otherwise, I sense that if this situation continues, it will be known as the Café des Laids Arts.
