Cornerstone Optometry

If I could leave a negative star I would. Dr. Keller is very rude and inconsiderate. He seems to only care about the bottom line in a vain attempt to shake you down for cash. The moment I told him I was unwilling to pay for contacts because I have always got them elsewhere, he rudely tried rushing me out. Prior to leaving I asked his opinion on Lasik eye surgery. He snapped harshly and sarcastically «well if you can’t afford contacts» my jaw dropped. I did not find his remark the least bit amusing. I cannot believe a man in his position would call in to question my finances in such a blunt and uncivil manner. No one who deals regularly with patients, has the right to be so arrogant and condescending. Truly a lack of respect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO ONE EVER GO TO THIS FACILITY! Find an ophthalmologist who cares.

Avoid this optometrist. Although the staff is friendly, Dr. Keller is the rudest professional I have ever encountered. I brought my kids in today for their exams. He basically yelled and scolded me for looking inside my purse for a pen to write with. The Dr. assumed I was checking my phone and said, «No cell or electronic devices allowed! It’s on the wall, can’t you read!» Even if I was looking at my phone (which I wasn’t) it shouldn’t be a big issue. Next my four year old nephew gets yelled at for attempting to sit on a chair. Apparently he needs to be sitting on my lap as he may fall and hurt himself. I can understand that, but arguing with a four year old! Really? Last as we are walking out of the exam room he tells us to go back to the waiting room. We proceed to go out the way we came in and we again get yelled at by the idiot Dr. this time he says «Why aren’t you following me? Don’t you people know how to pay attention? The waiting room is this way!» I was unaware there were two entrances/​exits. Anyhow this Dr. takes the cake. I miss Dr. Avila, she was very kind and I wonder why she left. I will never come back here again. The right exit was out the door!

I called and asked them for more contact lenses. They said to come in for another eye exam before they can sell me contacts. That way they can scam me for exam prices too. I asked if I could come in for the exam next week and if they could just sell me a few contact lenses for now to help me out of a jam. They refused. I inconveniently came in for the exam, and when the exam was over my prescription was exactly the same as it always is, I knew it would be like the last five times. Instead of giving me my contact lenses as first requested, I needlessly spent time and money for another eye exam.
They also tried to sell me used eye glasses from the display case instead of a brand-​new pair. WTF

Dr. Keller is the rudest professional I have ever encountered! I was filling out my paperwork at the counter and he came out and told me to pick up my stuff and go to the waiting room. I asked him why and said «this is the front desk!»…really? There were no other people in there… I said «cancel my appointment» and his reply was «and don’t come back!» I replied as leaving «I have never met anyone so freaking rude!» Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this business… I wouldn’t even give this one star.

These reviews are so wrong and mean. Dr. Keller has been my optometrist since I was 7 i will not see anyone else. He is so polite and patient and really knows how to explain everything. He really takes his time to make sure you feel comfortable and understand. I love his staff they’re just as nice.

My Mom had an appointment at 8am on Saturday Apr 5^th we got there before any of the staff but Dr Keller was there and was very helpful. He gave us all the paperwork to fill out so that was out of the way when the staff got to work.
He was very patient with my 88 yrs old Mom cause she can not hear very well. We did the exam and started to look at frames when my Mom did not want to change her frames. She would have to go two weeks without glasses and didn’t want to to that. So we just decided to wait and see if I could talk her into getting a second pair and come back another time. Later in the day I realized I did not get copies of her exam and called the office some lady said she would send them out by email today… Well I am still waiting for that email… now I will have to go by and pick the copies up… Why can’t people just do as they say.

I just picked my new glasses. I love them. Dr Keller was very professional, courteous, understanding and genuinely a nice man. I can’t understand why he gets a bad review. I guess people are never satisfied.
The staff is very nice, professional and also accomadating. Maria is great, she help me pick out my frames. She explained to me how «transition» lenses worked. Answered all of my questions and even helped me stay under budget.
I will definately tell anyone about Cornerstone Optomatry. I will be going to them for years to come!

Took hubby’s broken glasses in to this optician. We were advised that they could not fix the glasses, but recommended we go to One Price Optical. Thanks for the advice, Cornerstone… we appreciated your help… it made our vacation!

I wrote this review under his business name «Cornerstone Optometry» but thought I should put it here for Dr. Keller specifically also. I am so shocked by these reviews! I checked out each optometrist on my health plan before picking Dr. Keller. He had excellent reviews on Google. I thought he was excellent. Very personable, clean, professional, and very thorough. After the exam I told him I couldn’t really afford to buy glasses there as his cheap ones were $ 200, and on top of that I didn’t see any I really liked, he just let it go at that. No rude remarks. No pressure. I would recommend this place to anyone. Staff was very nice.

All I can say is avoid this optometrist. They overcharged, under delivered weeks late, and were incredibly pushy.
If you’re going to use a full service optometry store, there are several in the area with better prices and service.

Wow, I last went here probably early 2012. I found everyone very pleasant and professional. I had no problems with Dr. Keller at all. Sorry to see these experiences.

We’re not the only one Dr Keller was rude to. I was so confused by his behavior, I didn’t know what to think. There will be no next time to this Dr.
I learned my lesson real fast.

Dr. Keller rudely shoved an empty folder at the staff member assisting me, interrupting me mid sentence. She turned to him immediately and looked on inquisitively. There was another staff member behind the desk available for his request. He then commanded that she hand him some form, since she couldn’t make out what he wanted based solely on his gesture. Later, while I was working with his staff to find a pair of frames, he came up behind me, and tapped me on the shoulder. I thought he might be interested in helping since I had some questions regarding progressive vs. bifocal lenses. He simply said, «My name is Dr. Keller, «We’re closing now,» in firm voice. Not, «We’d like to have you back another time, but we have to close our doors now or; «Can we make an appointment for you so you don’t have to wait?, just the invitation to leave. Based on the reviews, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Next time I will Unilocal first! This doctor lacks professionalism, leadership skills, and appears to be borderline abusive to his staff, bringing the whole of his practice into question.

Never again! I brought my eldest son here and had a fairly good experience. The doctor was a young female. She was kind and courteous but I did get a pushy sales vibe from her when I only ordered one pair of glasses and stated I buy extra sets at a discount online optical store. She said to me you never really know what you are getting when you order from stores like that. I have been ordering from Zenni Optical online for quite some time and have never been disappointed so I brushed her comment off. The experience was good enough that I made an appointment for my middle child as well. He has been wearing glasses for about a year but has recently been complaining about eye strain and even pain. He is slightly near sided and prefers to wear his glasses almost all the time. I brought him here instead of where we went last time for a second eye exam in case the first place may have given him an incorrect prescription. I wish I would have known we were not getting the female doc but rather this super rude Dr. Keller. WORST DOCTOR ON THE PLANET! The exam started off with Dr. Keller meeting us in the lobby and shaking our hands. I asked if I could step out and he could do the exam with my (extremely well behaved) eleven year old by themselves as I was finishing up a work situation. He said no, he would rather I be in the room. I obliged as I sort of expected this answer. He walked us in to the exam room and began exam. He asked typical questions to my eleven year old son. As the exam was winding down I asked a question of my own and was shockingly interrupted… Dr. Keller nearly shouted to me «This isn’t about you, it’s about your son and if you have a question regarding him then I can help you but otherwise I cannot»! Uhhhhh, I did. I was only using my own experience as a reference for my question to make sense. I began to try to ask again in hopes there was a slight misunderstanding thinking maybe he didn’t mean to be as rude as he sounded… Nope, interrupted and again shockingly rude thinking I was trying to hijack the exam or something with my mediocre question. His was belittling and almost sarcastic. He then asked if I had any more questions, I sternly stated no. (I never did finish my question but at this point, I’m kind of over it.) He asked me this again almost mocking me if I was sure I din’t have anything else to add. I said a simple and stern no. He then walks us into the optometry area to get fitted for glasses. I politely excuse us and state we will return in a moment so I could finish what I had going for my work out side. When we return the Doctor asked if my son could return to get a couple of measurements that he forgot to get. While in that room with my son and this Doctor I was still being talked to in a rude manner. I had had enough. I advised this Doctor that if he would have allowed me to ask my question he would have understood what I was asking was in fact in reference to my son. I told him I didn’t any advice on my own eye health or my glasses as they are perfect. I wanted to know if the doctor asking my son to remove his glasses frequently during the day would cause added strain as it does me. I told him he was very rude and I could not believe how he handled himself so poorly in his profession. He seemed really taken back that I would stand up for myself. He seemed to now be as uncomfortable as he had made my son and I feel. The exam was over; we got our glasses from the woman up front whose job that was. I would have walked out if my insurance wasn’t providing this entire thing for free. As we were about to leave I asked the receptionist where the woman Doctor went and she advised me she was no longer a part of the practice. Can’t say I blame her. I apologized to the receptionist that she had to put up with this Doctor on a daily basis and just told her about our experience and after this we will never return. She seemed to have a rehearsed repsonse as if she is told this type of thing pretty frequently. I decided to Unilocal this place in hopes of reaching other moms to help them avoid having such a bad experience as I did. I was not surprised to see the other reviews showing what I also experienced from this narcissistic Doctor who should not be working in such a customer service related field. With so many other choices in the valley, try someone else. Trust me.

The employees work well with all customers. Dr. Keller belittled me! Here is what happened.
I went to my eye doctor (Cornerstone in Palm Desert) and Dr. Keller said he recommended that I get a second opinion. I told him the contacts disintegrated after a week. I thought he was going to get me another pair. He walked in with this form stating I shouldn’t wear contacts. Really; just give me a pair that are not old. I asked him to explain why, he repeated you need to get a second opinion. He was quite arrogant. I said to him that I was disappointed that he would not explain to me why. He than used the childish phrase, «awww». I was shocked. I stated, «why are you belittling me?» He again said, «awww». I was taken off guard. (BTW, he said the, awww, in front of his customers. I left but I should have just fired him. He had not dignity or integrity. what would you have done?

My husband and I went to get our eyes checked last week. My appointment was first, when completed I was looking at frames — with no intention of buying anything. I did find some frames that were acceptable and asked for the pricing. Explaining that we did not want to buy anything today — we will need to see the cost etc. as we both would probably be needing glasses. My husband finished and they sat him down to look at frames too. We did find some and asked for pricing … was going to be a little under $ 450 for the both, so we said ok why not. We are here.
We left and went to do some shopping. We noticed that there was an optical department in this store, so we stopped in to see what they had and also asked about pricing … it seemed to be about ½ the price. We completed our shopping and went back to the optical department to discuss further exact pricing. We called Cornerstone Optometry to please not place our order, that we were doing some comparison shopping. After receiving pricing at this store it WAS ½ the price! We called and canceled our order with Cornerstone.
About 10 minutes later I received a call from Dr. Keller. He said that he heard that we canceled our order. I said yes, that we had found glasses for half the price at «un-​named» store. His response was (please sit down for this!) «Then next time why don’t you get your eyes checked at «un-​named» store and then hung up the phone.
I stood there with my mouth wide open and quite shocked at this total lack of courtesy and or customer service. He did not try to see if he might be able to do better on pricing next time — or that he was sorry that we canceled our order. Also, we had previously had our eyes checked and purchased glasses at their office. NEVER AGAIN!
