JJ&B Pools

This company was referred to me by a friend who formerly worked in the property management business. I called Dalia and she said that Jose, the owner, would be at the house the next morning to give me a bid on calcium removal, re-​sealing the pool and spa and refinishing our decking that was showing its age. Jose showed up right on time and basically gave me a free inspection of all items that would be needing attention in the near future, which I totally concurred with. He measured the job at hand and two days later I received his bid price. Jose had told me that he’s not the cheapest but also not the most expensive so I felt his price was fair and called them to proceed. The two workmen, Jose (different one) and Mauro showed up at 8AM about a week later and went right to work. These two men worked their guts out in the hot sun non stop and accomplished the calcium removal and re-​sealing the same day. I was amazed at the quality of work, the cleanup and the professionalism of these men. The next day Richard showed up at 8AM to start the refinishing of our deck which was about 15 years old. Like the other two men, Richard went right to work… no radio, no cell phone calls, no interruptions of any kind. Richard is a real perfectionist and worked alone with no breaks and knew exactly what he was doing. The deck process is about two and a half days as there are layers that have to set as they go on. Richard did a fantastic job and our 15 year old pool looks brand new. Thank you Richard! He cleaned up after the job and raked and sprinkled the surrounding areas picking up dust and fine stones. After he had left, it was perfect. Two days later I received the invoice from the company which was right to the dollar of the original quote. A business transaction doesn’t get any better… agreement on price, skilled and professional job, done on time as promised, priced as originally quoted… and most importantly a happy customer. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending JJ&B Pools.

Jose and his team did a great job with all phases of the process. Starting with the design, which I’m sure I frustrated them with as I changed my mind several times. Next challenge was the removal of the jungle and koi pond which we inherited when we bought the house. The construction was done in a timely manner as was originally quoted. Several changes were implemented during construction which were gladly implemented. Pool done just in time for the summer heat. Overall we are completely satisfied with the work done and thank Jose, Dalia, and the team for a job well done.

I work for a large property management company, and needed a contractor to remodel some pools out in Palm Desert. Jose and his crew are innovative, trustworthy contractors. They did three pools at one of my commercial properties and all of them turned out beautiful! They went above and beyond my expectations with the quality of work. All the projects finished on time, and they always passed inspection. I continue to use JJ&B Pools to this day with a pool rebuild in San Diego. I highly recommend using these on any new pool builds or pool remodels.

What a mess– all we wanted was a pool heater and waterfall built. Dealing with Jose was a nightmare. Refused to return a phone call, text or email. This project was almost a month late. I cannot count the broken water lines and workers taking off when a problem occurred –which was often. I was infuriated having to beg to get a return phone call. I finally told him I was finished-wasn’t going to pay the balance and was going to another company. This got us in touch with his son James. He did finally oversee the project and get it done. Miserable experience with this company. Never again.

After buying a home in Palm Desert with an older pool, we decided to do a complete remodel. We contacted J J & B Pools and made an appointment for an estimate. They accommodated our schedule and Frank came out on a Saturday. He walked us through the entire process from start to finish. We received a comprehensive estimate and decided to proceed with a total remodel including changing the depth of the pool, adding a swim out bench, new poured in place coping, stone pavers, Stonescapes pebble replastering, a new skimmer, new autofill, variospeed pump and a Hayward Omnilogic automation system with Internet controls. This was a big project and we are simply thrilled with the results. Jose and his team completed the job timely and on budget. Jose was always available and made the project simple and worry free. Daila was also extremely helpful and provided valuable information, making the payment process easy. If you are contemplating a new pool or major remodel, we highly recommend J J Pools. You won’t be disappointed!

Fantastic job in re plastering, tiling, resolving any of our pool issues. Fair, great communication, professional, hard working. Completed on schedule, quickly and with expertise. Will definitely continue to employ for maintance and any work moving forward. Also, very helpful and resourceful to help us meet all our backyard challenges.

Wow what a COMPLETE waste of time !!! Needed to get an estimate to have repair work done due to an inspection I had done when purchasing a house. James came out and he was very nice and answered our questions. HOWEVER when we finally got the quote several days later it was ALL wrong. Nothing we wanted to get a quote on was even on the quote. Complete waste of time. Please don’t bother calling them or using them UNLESS you have a lot of time to waste and at the end the quote was all wrong anyways. Highly don’t recommend them !!!

Seriously? I read the negative reviews and decided to give them a chance regardless. I called and they were super helpful and friendly over the phone. I needed some major pool remodeling and James came out to take a look. Again, helpful and friendly. I was told to expect an estimate within a few days. A week later I called because I hadn’t received one. James was apologetic and promised to get it to me right away. NOPE. I didn’t waste any money with them, but my time is valuable and they sure wasted that. Don’t waste your time. I ended up very happy with the work that was done by another company, but can’t for the life of me figure out how these guys stay in business when they take the time to go out and don’t even bother to bid.

I called several pool contractors and asked for them to give me an estimate in building my new pool. Jose came out a few days later, talked with me about what I wanted and then took measurements so that he could give me a cost for the project. I finally gave up waiting for his bid several weeks later and went with another company. Poor business ethics. If he was too busy he should have just said so.

I recently purchased a house in Rancho Mirage and had minimal knowledge of the pool and there were some major issues with the equipment. James came over after working a full day and spent at least an hour plus with me to explain the pool, issues, and how his company can assist me with service. JJ&B Pools completed a major repair on the pool and we are 100% happy and satisfied with the work they did and continue to do for us. James has been super helpful!!! Top Notch Company!

JJ&B installed my pool, spa, and fire pit. Jose and his team did a great job! Jose continually worked with me on the price and options to make my family very happy. Jose has always been available by phone or email, and or one of his staff members has returned my calls, or answered my questions. If any problems arise Jose himself will contact me and come right away to fix the problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to everyone. Thank you Jose, JJ&B for your hard work and dedication to making pool dreams come true.

I’m surprised at the negative reviews below. Jose, the owner, and his team are always helpful. The office staff is helpful and the pool guy comes twice a week, per schedule. Whenever there’s a more complicated problem Jose shows up himself. They also built an outdoor firepit for me and installed colored lights in the pool, both of which work beautifully. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them highly!

My dad made an appointment with Jose to get an estimate on a new pool construction, he then cleared his day and drove out from Los Angeles to Palm Desert to meet with him, but clearly Jose didn’t want the job since he just didn’t show up!
A week later I decided to make appointments for my dad to meet with a couple of companies. I wasn’t aware of the situation that occurred the prior week, so again I included Jose’s company as an option. I called and made an appointment with him directly and he said he would definitely be there. To my surprise, HE DIDN’T SHOW UP AGAIN!!! I called the office numerous times and there was no answer. He didn’t even bother to call and say I’m not going to make it. Had I known he was the same company that didn’t show up the first time I would have never given him a second chance.
Thankfully, this time he wasn’t the only company scheduled so it wasn’t a complete waste of a day. However, there are many other pool companies that will actually value your time and want your business.

Our pool looks great, they always talk to us about what they’re doing and once they even helped us get water out of our guesthouse when it flooded. I’ve used other pool companies before that were awful. I really trust JJ&B Pools.

replaster and all new equipment
we have been using them since then, for twice weekly service
and they are always here when they say they will be and clean the pool and spa till it
is sparkly clean. highly recommend!

Weekly maintenance started well but now it is hard for me to write something positive. The pool service is intermittent and not performed well. Often I have to call to get someone here to get the pool serviced. There has to be a better pool service somewhere in the Valley.

To be clear, the work performer by the maintenance man (Jose) was great. The reason I won’t be calling again in the future lies solely with the receptionist/​office manager who clearly quoted me a price over the phone which, based on that price I authorized the work (the day before). However, after the service was completed, I was surprised to see an «additional» charge which definitely was not mentioned. It’s like they were trying to slip in an extra charge purposely, the old bait and switch. In this case, I very specifically asked her (over the phone) all costs involved beforehand. The next day the work was completed, and when I called to dispute the charges (the day after I just spoke to her to authorize the work), she gave me attitude like I was trying to get something for free or scam THEM. You would think she could remember telling me something the day before, however a) don’t give out the wrong information on pricing or b) don’t give me attitude if you forgot to mention a charge when I specifically asked you. Either way, you should know that you made a mistake and apologize for the confusion, suck up the additional charge and learn not to make that mistake again (if you actually were concerned about repeat business and referrals). When I said that I would only pay the agreed upon charges, she said; «Okay, obviously we’re not going to agree on this, so why don’t you just pay the original price, and you just get the other service for free» (with attitude) I explained I wasn’t trying to get something for free to which she said with more attitude; «I guess I’ll just be paying for those others charges out of my pocket». To which I said, «I guess so». Don’t give me attitude like it’s somehow my fault, as now I will call on another pool company in the future as a result. Get all costs in writing first before dealing with these people if you do decide to.

Use JJ&B for about three years. They’ve done a lot with our pool equipment, changing things around, adding a new heater, etc., which has been great.
Their monthly service leaves a lot to be desired. Every month or two we have an algae outbreak which they seem to ignore until it gets pretty significant, and I’ve made three or four calls, finally to Jose, and eventually, and I mean in a week or two, they get it under control. It messes up full weekends of being able to swim.
I know their weekly service person SEES the algae starting to bloom, but something about their procedures just makes it seem like they don’t want to deal with it (or can’t deal with it) immediately.
