Palm Desert Visitor Services

In Palm Desert haben wir zunächst das Palm Desert Visitor Center angesteuert, um uns über die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Gegend zu informieren. Es befindet sich an der Ecke von El Paseo und der San Pablo Avenue.
Direkt am Center sind ausreichend kostenfreie Parkplätze. Das Gebäude sieht von außen sehr imposant und modern aus. Im Inneren ist es sehr modern eingerichtet und die Angestellten dort waren sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich.
Alle unsere Fragen über Hotels, Ausflüge und Sehenswürdigkeiten konnten kompetent beantwortet werden. Aber auch bei der Planung von Wanderungen in der näheren Umgebung stehen die Angestellten mit Wegbeschreibungen und Ratschlägen zur Verfügung.
Neben den üblichen Broschüren und Flyern, kann man hier im Souvenirshop ein wenig stöbern. Bekleidung mit dem Palm Desert Logo, Bücher, Becher, Schlüsselanhänger und viele weitere Artikel stehen zur Auswahl.
Wenn man das Center verlässt ist man direkt im El Paseo Shopping District, der angesagtesten Einkaufsstraße in der Gegend. Hier findet man neben einem Apple Store auch fast alle bekannten Designer.
Das Palm Desert Visitor Center ist von Montag bis Samstag von 10.00 — 18.00 Uhr geöffnet. Einen Besuch kann ich uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Located on beautiful El Paseo at the corner of San Pablo, this center looks more like a boutique than a visitor’s center. Filled with merchandise, you can find Palm Desert T-​shirts, hats, canvas tote bags, magazines and mugs.
Visitors and locals can stop in for souvenirs, maps, directions, hiking and biking guides, books and gifts. Staff here is always friendly and helpful.
Right now, Palm Desert residents can get a free reusable bag at the center. The local news was a little misleading when they showed a picture of a canvas tote — that is not the giveaway. Instead, it is a lightweight nylon Chico Bag with a built-​in stuff sack for when not in use. When it opens up, it is very wrinkled. I came for the free bag, but also purchased a teal-​colored travel tumbler for $ 14.95.

Located next to the Lululemon store, I stopped in because I wanted to find out where the best hiking trials were located. The visitors center has been located here for 3 years and is quite large. The center also has a shop which sells tee shirts, cups, hats and other souvenirs.
The young gal behind the counter was really helpful supplying maps of hiking and biking trails. She also gave me detailed descriptions of the trails that were open until the end of December and trails that would close due to the conservation of the big horn sheep.
If you’re visiting Palm Desert for the first time or a regular visitor like myself — I would definitely visit the Palm Desert Visitors Info Center.

Gorgeous building, lots of free parking, knowledgeable staff, carefully selected quality gifts including educational ones for kids — I went once specifically to buy my nephews’ Christmas gifts, and unique presentation.
The center is divided into different stations, e.g. Arts/​Music/​Culture, Sports/​Activities, Dining, Accommodation, etc. It makes for engaging presentation and I don’t think I’ve spent as much time in any other visitor center.
They also do art shows and had a December Wreath-​Lighting here for the community.
