Love eating the fish tacos here apposed to the Other Santanas they don’t have a frozen fish taste and the Carne Asada Nachos are pretty good too!

I was told to try this place out because it was better than El Ranchito. I love my friend who recommended this place but I completely disagree. I did not enjoy their food at all and tasted like fast food. Not authentic. Will be going to El Ranchito tomorrow to make up for this meal. I think I would have enjoyed the old Taco Bell they replaced more which is the biggest insult I can think of.

Hopefully someone will get a chuckle out of this, however, at the time we did not think it was funny. My son and I just left the gym in the center. My son wanted an egg and chorizo burrito as it was breakfast time. He only had his debit card with him. We drove thru and ordered with extra cheese. Drive thru girl ran debit card, had my son sign and returned card. We waited 5 minutes and the cashier said I’m sorry but I forgot to charge you for the extra cheese. We said REALLY. Your going to make us run our card for 35 – 50 cents(not sure exact) after making us wait? If it was me I would of said forget the extra cheese but my son wanted it so out with the card. Yes, they make a mistake and make us do this. After 10 more minutes we get the burrito and head off home. My son famished started eating his burrito and you will never guess this… NOCHEESEATALL,!!!

I will say for a fast food Mexican place I was very impressed. 1st time went there got a California Burrito very good– with sour cream 2nd time did drive through they messed up two orders and the food sucked– they forgot to add things to the burritos. From my experience California Burritos usually have guac or at least sour cream.

The worst Mexican food I’ve ever tasted, this used to be a Taco Bell. I wish it still was, I would’ve gotten a better meal. Enchilada sauce was sweet and salty, absolutely disgusting.

Came to Santana’s for lunch. Had to use the bathroom real bad. Didn’t have change to use the BATHROOM!!! A paying customer no tokens. So sad will not be back. Food was ok.

This review is for the Palm Desert location. It’s on the main road leading to Costco, just past America’s Tire on the left. My friend and I go there for lunch about every two weeks. We usually get the carnitas burrito for him and the carne asada burrito for me, plus 2 drinks. Cost: $ 15.88. We can’t understand why the place isn’t busier at lunch. The burritos are huge and have guacamole in them. They’re almost all meat which is good quality, never tough. No fillers such as rice(which I dislike in a burrito,) although the California burrito has fries in them. They have an excellent salsa bar which also includes many types of veggies, such as pickled carrots/onion slices, sliced cucumbers, pickled peppers and lime wedges. The menu is also huge. There are many combo plates and a la carte items. For the quality, prices are very reasonable. Looking at others’ meals, everything looks delicious. Service is fast, yet the food tastes like it was made to order. The staff is friendly; the restaurant and bathrooms are always clean; the parking lot is more than adequate. My only small complaint is that since I don’t have much«padding,» the plastic chairs are uncomfortable. I’ve found this to be true at most other fast-food restaurants, and it’s «my» problem, not theirs. Maybe I should just take a cushion to sit on!

Went out to Desert Hot Springs for a lil vacation, it was late and nothing around seemed to be open. Asked out Hotel staff what would be open around the area and something good. Was directed towards Santana’s and was greatly surprised to see it was 24 hrs and a small place like the one’s we have down in the LBC area. Food was good and fresh, as well as restaurant/condiment bar was clean. We got an el pastor burrito and bean/cheese burrito and was not disappointed. ½ a nachos was a perfect size and was BOMB! I don’t like guacamole and their’s was DELICIOUS!

Cool place that tries to be a step above Mexican fast food. Good menu selection and the people were friendly. The food was good, flavorful, and juicy. The chips seemed fresh and the salsas were very good. I like the plates they serve and they brought our food to our table.

Santana’s, I am breaking up with you. We have grown apart. I expect consistency, while you make my burritos smaller and smaller. You served me an $ 8 burrito at the size of a $ 4 burrito. Then when I ordered a taco with my burrito you forgot about it and then when you said that you were going to make it, nothing came of it. I had to ask for my refund because I was so upset. We are done I’m never going to come see you again

I personally do not like their food. The carne asada tasted cheap and the potatoes were cold. I was told I had to try the California burrito but was very disappointed, as it was very dry and unsatisfying.

The correct name for this place is «Santana’s Mexican Food» according to their receipt. They are located in a former Taco Bell just off Dinah Shore and west of Monterey, not too far from the Exit 131 I-10 interchange. Santana’s apparently originated in 1986 in Chula Vista, which is about as close to Mexico as this place gets. It’s clean, well-lit, and offers a wide variety of Mexican dishes. At least their food is better than the former occupant. They are a chain with outlets over much of southern California. I ordered the numero cinco(number 5, gringo) — a taco and enchilada, and my wife got her usual chile relleno y enchilada con queso. The serving size was plentiful, and OK, but the flavors didn’t really bowl us over. The rice was fluffy but could have used some chopped green onion or something to make it more than just plain rice with a little red sauce, and the frijoles refritos were just OK also. Most of their combos are $ 7.50, which is a good deal for what you get. Can’t complain about the price at all. And that price includes the sodas. They have a pretty good selection of salsas available, and if you are eating in you can get a basket of chips to munch on. Not available at the drive-up window. Summing up, 3 stars and if you want to add a star because the drive-thru is open 24/7, be my guest.

We went here based on Unilocal.Interesting. Great value, but just barely above average food on balance. I had Camarones empanizados at 7.99. 8 shrimp, lettuce, rice and refried beans. Shrimp were a little toasty. 3 – 3.5 My wife’s Chicken enchilada and tostada were slightly devoid of chicken, but tasty enough. 3 Very good flour tortilla tasted fresh and homemade. But the whole meal w/drinks was only $ 15. So, can’t complain at all; neither can I rave. Like I said, good value for decent food.

I love Santana’s! This is the place to go for a California Burrito. 1lb. of carne asada, french fry, pico, and cheesy goodness! Finally I don’t have to drive to Morongo Valley to get my fix…
