The Pastry Swan Bakery

We ordered Pastry Swan for our wedding cake and it did not disappoint! We wanted a top tier for just us to share and they did a fantastic job with the instructions we gave. We didn’t want anything too fancy or with fondant. We got a ombré teal frosted, raspberry swirl, guava white chocolate, filled cake… with rainbow sprinkle decorations! Though we didn’t really taste the guava or the white chocolate, the cake was very tasty. It mostly reminded me of raspberries. It was real easy ordering with this bakery. I highly recommend them!

It’s always amazing to me how people can be drawn to a restaurant because «I heard it was good or great food ». So if you have heard the food is great, it’s NOTHING SPECIAL. If you have heard the service is bad, again NOTHING SPECIAL. If you have heard the barking dogs from owners who insist on bringing their untrained purse warmers with them and think they have the right to disturb your Breakfast, Absolutely True.

I’ve had the best experience ordering specialty cakes from them long distance. Ordered from LA over the phone and picked up and had party in the desert area.
I did send then photos of sample cakes and conveyed colors and flavors and they perfected what was in my head.
Totally recommend Pastry Swan Bakery. The cake décor was incredible and the cake freshness and flavor were DELECTABLE.

I honestly don’t want to give one stars to any business, but the Pastry Swan Bakery’s foods are not worth for the price. I know it’s located in El Paseo, but it doesn’t mean the restaurant can charge extra for that foods & services. Bad services are easy to fix. Perhaps its owner has bad attitude & spreads like diseases. Desserts aren’t good neither. I was so disappointed.

Visited the area last weekend and thought we would try this place for the first time. OMG, it was awesome!!! Walked in and there was a massive display of desserts as soon as you enter. Everything looked fantastic. My wife and I were going to get dessert to go, but decided to stay and enjoy the vibe and atmosphere. Glad we did.
Was in the mood for coffee so ordered a PB Mocha. FANTASTIC!!! Had a ice-​cream cone cake from the front display, again Fantastic. Oh wait, it gets better: Ordered a raspberry white chocolate crêpe. To Die For!!!
We will be back!

This small place has a friendly layout, which is unfortunately the only nice thing I can say after my initial (and final) visit. After considerable wait at the counter, all I ended up getting was a croissant, which I was told was baked fresh earlier that morning. Not only was it so stale that I had to throw it out after two bites, but it had been placed on top of a sweet croissant so that it picked up a lot of its sugar and ended up being mildly sweet itself. If a bakery can’t handle a simple croissant…

We have enjoyed all our meals at the various restaurants on El Paseo — however we were very disappointed with this one. The food for breakfast was not bad but definitely not good either. The worst part was the wait staff — I can understand being frustrated as a server because of things being busy, but to take it out on the customers by being rude, curt and serving with a frown just ruined any chance of us returning.

Best food. Best dessert. Ever. Highly recommend. Would definitely come back. Tomorrow if I can. The Nutella walnut crêpe. The pizza margarita. The vegetarian Sandwich. And the hummus with pita bread. All to die for.

Stale chips. Tried 6 deserts all horrible. The biscotti was so hard it almost cracked the plate it was served on when we but it back down. We won’t go back. The pizza was burned on the edges and totally mush in the center. All around horrible

Ordered a turquoise blue and black cake for my daughters 16^th birthday but got a cake with white design. Totally screwed up our birthday theme. I made sure the girl who took my order understood what specific colors we wanted. The number 16 on the cake looked like 72. I gave them a sample design of the cake we wanted but with our colors. Judge for yourself the before and after pics.

Came mid-​afternoon with a friend for a late lunch. We had soup of the day, which was creamed avocado/​cucumber/​dill cold soup. It was so good we ordered seconds. I had smoked turkey/​swiss on a croissant. Croissant was nice and fresh, crispy on the outside and moist and flaky inside. I assume it was baked there. My friend had a Greek salad which he said was excellent. I see there are lots of complaints about the service, but we had no problems. Service was friendly, not too fast, not too slow, just right for a leisurely afternoon stroll on El Paseo. Server answered all our questions in a very friendly manner. I plan to return here on my next visit to El Paseo.
Prices are also very reasonable.

This place is also know as «The Fix» and is a true gem on El Paseo, and my favorite spot in the desert. I love the interior décor, and how part of the bar opens out to the patio area.
The bar has a nice little selection of craft brews, and they now offer at least one tap of the local Coachella Valley Brews! My favorite is the CVB Double Date.
7 days a week they have «attitude adjustment hour», I think from 4 – 7. They have a lot of great items on the menu, I like their aloha flat bread pizza and the buffalo wings. I’ve had the crab cakes, which were ok.
On certain nights of the week there is entertainment on the patio, especially during season in the desert. It’s a nice place to come late evening and grab a drink or a desert and relax on the patio by the fountain and listed to a musician perform. The patio is also dog-​friendly :)
For breakfast, I recommend the «Fix Burrito». It is pretty big and can be split in half for two people to enjoy. They have a great selection of breakfast and desert crepes.
Customer service is excellent, friendly bartenders, A+++ for The Fix.

This was one of our stops on Desert Tasty Tours. We got to experience the Date Bar. Wow!!! I highly recommend it, days later I am still thinking of it.

Krist from Desert Tasty Tours brought us by here. We had the Date bar, which is a fig newton on steroids times 10. We will be back to try some of the other goodies.

I needed an emergency cake for my aunts 50^th birthday. I chose the pastry Swan, which Im not so sure was my brightest idea. I do have to mention I am very grateful they took my order so last minute. I DO NOT live in the desert, so I had placed the cake order over the phone. I paid $ 16 extra for fresh strawberries in the filling, and sadly, there were very FEW strawberries. Also, I had a 4:30pm pick up time, I came to the El Rodeo location to pick my cake up, and it wasn’t even at this location. It was at their Perez location, which closes at 3pm. My question is, if the Perez location closes at 3pm, why on earth would they give me a 4:30pm pick up time? I had to wait until 6pm to receive my cake, an hour and a half LATE! The party had already started! I chose the Pastry Swan because it is a high end bakery, so I assumed they would be more organized, and professional, especially for the dollar amount I paid for the cake. Im very disappointed with how things turned out. I do want to mention that the cake was VERY delicious, everyone loved it. It would have been perfect if they would have put more fresh strawberries in it like I paid for. Please Pastry Swan, become more organized! I will gladly do more business in the future with you guys as long as things go more smoothly!

Excellent food. Service is weak. There apparently is no manager or owner over seeing the operation. Very sad as the place has great potential.
Try to avoid using a credit card there as they will most certainly botch the transaction.

Very friendly staff and the food was the best. I will keep coming back. I have gone for lunch, the best sandwiches, breakfast crepes are made fresh. Tonight, I went for happy hour. The bartender was very friendl — drinks where good the pizza and spinach dip were very fresh and tasty. Years ago, they made the best cake for a party I had.

I had a totally different experience. The service was very slow, made inappropriate comments and in general made us feel really uncomfortable.
The waiter/​bartender on the restaurant side of things asked us what we wanted to order without bringing us menus and then disappeared into the kitchen for 30 minutes before serving us. He was visibly annoyed that we wanted to order pastries and both the waiter/​bartender and the pastery swan counter person just didn’t ‘get’ hospitality. It was pretty awful and we only had a glass of wine, two vanilla gelatos (which we were told we were boring for ordering) and an iced tea that literally tasted like the state fair… i.e. manure.
Totally awful experience and will never go back.
