Specialties

SADLY we are temporarily closed. Our beautiful restaurant was destroyed by an electrical fire on Christmas Day just 4 hours before opening for diner service. We are scouting a temporary location now so we can just the staff back to work while we rebuild. Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts and prayers. Palm Springs diners are THE BEST!

Located in the heart of the new «Up and Coming» South Palm Springs.

At Bernie’s, re-live the atmosphere of what dining used to be. Stop by for martinis, supper and a swingin’ lounge act. Transport yourself to a time when nothing else mattered — except for being cool.

Executive Chef, Jason Moffitt, oversees the creation of each incredible dish. Chef Moffitt focuses on creating classic American dishes using modern cooking techniques. Committed to only the freshest ingredients, our produce and meats are sourced locally and sustainably whenever possible.

History

Established in 2013.

In 1973 Rand Howell and Geoff McIntosh met while attending Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Rand was a bartender at the Bannock Hotel. Together they frequented Bernie’s Landing — a small lounge located down a flight of stairs from street level on South Arthur Avenue just down the block from the Bannock.

Their lives and careers took them from Idaho to California and through numerous management positions in food and beverage. They have previously owned two restaurant operations in addition to building a successful real estate brokerage in Long Beach and acquiring a number of investment properties with their friends Dave and Lorraine Woody.

They purchased their first home in The Desert in 2005 and shortly discovered a restaurant at 292 E Palm Canyon Dr. in Palm Springs called Davey’s Hideaway. They were greeted at the front door by the host named Bern Hebert. Almost in unison they said «We’re back at Bernie’s!» They became regular guests and ate there weekly for about 5 years
