Old Las Palmas is one of the oldest residential areas in Palm Springs. It has been, and still is, home to Hollywood stars, politicians, major entertainment icons, wealthy entrepreneurs and plenty of folks who just enjoy living in this unique neighborhood that, like Palm Springs itself, is constantly changing and evolving. Come take a walk with me around the historic Old Las Palmas neighborhood and let me tell you a few stories about my Palm Springs. During our walk we will see a variety of homes built between 1925 and 2008. I will tie together the various architectural styles and the celebrities who lived in these homes with a story of the diversity of Palm Springs and how it became the city it is today.

History

Established in 2011.

Through the diversity of homes in Old Las Palmas I will share with you stories of the people who have lived, and still live in Palm Springs, creating the rich tapestry which is our incredibly diverse community: Native Americans; retirees; wealthy business entrepreneurs; military personnel; celebrities; young families; and the largest per capita gay and lesbian population in the world. During our walk we will look back at the past, talk about the present, and get a possible glimpse towards the future.

I’m a former improvisational theatre actor and for 20 years I was a consumer researcher conducting focus groups and interviews all over the United States. I moved to Palm Springs in 2002 (previously living in San Francisco, Chicago, Cleveland and Boston). I know and love Palm Springs. It’s my passion, and I spend lots of time exploring and learning about this area. I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm and a few secret places with visitors to this Palm Springs paradise.
