A wide range of limited edition art, tiles, ceramics, calendars, stationery, Sandicast sculptures and other gift items. All of the framed art and hand made ceramics are Made in America.

All food products are also Made in America: bullies, antlers, cookies, freeze dried or frozen proteins from Stella & Chewys, Sojos, Canidae, Taste of the Wild, Buddy Biscuits, Zukes, Pawsitively Gourment, Claudia’s Cuisine and local favorite Bones & Scones, all featuring grain free options.

Fabulous dishes and feeders from Unleashed Life, Bowsers, Harry Barker.

An extensive collection of fun and sturdy toys round out the collection for dogs and kitty too!

History

Established in 1997.

In 1997 Dan was on vacation in Palm Springs and could not find a dog store to bring his dogs a souvenir, so he opened his own! In 2010 Robert (who started out as a customer from LA) took over from Dan. Since then we’ve expanded to a larger store with exclusive lines like Ruffwear, Sandicast, Dogla, and Puppia. We’ve also worked with local charities and shelters, this year adopting 23 dogs from events at our stores!

We’ve also created a website (www​.cold​nose​warm​heart​.com) for all those folks who visit Palm Springs. We are also grateful to be voted «Best of the Desert» pet store for the fifth time for 2013!

In 2011 we renovated our Palm Springs store and opened a second location on swanky El Paseo in Palm Desert. In 2012 we opened a third store in seaside Carlsbad, CA. This year a fourth location opened in the Coachella Valley (at Country Club & Washington) the first with full service grooming, just in time to celebrate our 15th anniversary

I met Dan when visiting Palm Springs as a customer in the store. After I moved here full time in 2009 I was looking for a business opportunity that utilized my years of retail merchandising and buying experience. I’m not sure whose more excited about the store, me or my dogs Olive and Cosmo. It’s been a great experience and I look forward to meeting people and their pets everyday!

What a great and unique store. Everyone always greet you when you entry and is very accommodating and friendly. I’ve shopped at a lot of pet stores especially the larger pet box stores and they are never as helpful as Cold Nose Warm Heart is, they have it all going there and KNOW their products!!!
I tell everyone to shop at this quaint gem there in down town Palm Springs. From my understanding the owner says the store has been around for almost 17 years so that says something right there. They may not be able to carry everything but have a great collection and you will be able to get something great and fun for your pet to play with, wear and or eat… I got something for myself… hehehe, well my babies got treats to… Now you guys go get something as well. Happy shopping readers.

I made a reservation for my Laso Alpso at 9:00 am, I was greeted by a young lady name Nina, who was very courtesy and professional. We discussed the type of hair cut. This was our first visit to CNWH, Nina assured me that Luci would be in good hands, she gave me a time frame when she would be finished, and Nina called within that time. When I came to pick her up I was over joyed with my little Luci. Nina and CNWH have a customer for life. Thank you,

Got my little puggy some souvenirs from here while visiting Palm Springs for work. The guy was really nice and asked about my dog. He has a pug too so we geeked out together about how pugs are the best. I didn’t catch his name but I think his pug, Honey (I think), might be the avatar. Anyway, the only thing I wish they had had were little doggie shirts that said Palm Springs. I wanted to get her a souvenir that said the name of the city but all they had were Palm Springs cookies (which I did buy but she ate that in .2 seconds).
I bought the wrong size harness but have emailed them to ask what can be done — I’ll update review when I hear back!

Horrible customer service. Offered help to everyone else in the store except my boyfriend and I. Not to mention its ‘against their rules to have the AC on’! Maybe if they had reasonable prices people would shop there and they could afford AC. Too many other options to ever come back!

Seriously the best pet store with such a huge selection! My shepherd Fiona is allergic to everything and many places don’t have lots of options for treats! This place had a huge selection and I left with about 10 boxes! Also I can never find cute larger collars. I found the perfect collar for her and it was too big so the next day when I brought it back no questions asked they were so happy to exchange it for a smaller size! I wish they would open something in La! I will be back! Thank you!

Des produits sympa, une femme très agréable et de bons conseils. J’achète entre autre une laisse avec poignée en gel pour mon confort il y a 4 Jrs. Ce matin le bouton de bouton de blocage né fonctionne plus, je me rends au magasin ou un homme peu avenant m’explique que c’est normal, je né sais pas me servir de la laisse, il né me propose rien, je monte le ton, il finit par accepter l’échange moyennant 8 $. Non seulement il né connais rien aux produits de la boutique mais en plus il est malhonnête. Fuyez ce triste sir.

We dropped in here while visiting Palm Springs and were walking to explore the boulevard. What a cute shop! They were very friendly and of course we talked all about our dogs. She pointed out some things special for us. Great service and vast array of items to choose from. I got 4 greeting cards. Just couldn’t resist. I say drop in and check them out.

Yes they have just about everything cool for your dog but damn where’s the customer service? I was in here taking a whole bunch of pictures and the older lady didn’t say anything to me at all. Yes she was with a customer but she still could of at least said hey, hi or hey black guy I’m watching you but nope.
I have more than my fair share of animals and there was some cool stuff I wanted to buy but why should I when I’m being ignored? I’m 6ft tall and black in Palm Springs so how could you not see me in your store?
Even though I want to come back to buy some things I know I shouldn’t because it’ll be a waste of my time.

I moved here from San Francisco and I love this store! I brought my dog Bo in for a new collar.
Joanne was working there and she went out of her way to find Bo the perfect collar. She was so friendly and very knowledgable. Bo loved her! The store has a large selection of quality dog food and products. I am so happy Palm Springs has such an awesome pet store!

Buyer Beware. They deserve a negative 5 points. This store does have a cute variety of retail items and that’s it. I purchased a dog outfit, I told their mature age employee the dog is a Chihuahua, 5 lbs at most, I showed her a photo, the dog lives in San Diego, her response «Dogs may look small, but they’re not, I wouldn’t let you buy an XS.» I bought a small, it was too big, I went to their Palm Desert location to return only to find out they are store credit or exchange only. They don’t have the courtesy to tell you this at time of purchase or print on their receipts. Clearly, this business leaves «customer» out of customer service. Now I’m stuck with store credit. After I use it, I will never shop there, won’t recommend, go to PetSmart since they have a nice variety too and fair return policy. What a time suck this process was.

So rude! Came here to get treats and things for our two dogs as we do every year on our annual trip, stopped by on our way to check into our hotel and was told «you must not be from around here because no one from around here would have their dog out this time of day» we let her know we stopped in our way to check in to our hotel and our beloved pup came from an air conditioned car to the store! She made another comment basically letting us know we are terrible pet parents and I was DONE! Really?!? You are a dog store in a vacation destination, know your customer… They do have some cute things (that’s why I gave 2 stars) but a bit over priced and totally rude customer service! We came here last year with less then stellar service so this will be out last visit. :/

This store is absolutely ADORABLE and the staff is very nice. I would say most of the clothing is for small-​medium dogs. I didn’t see any large outifts. They have tons of doggie snacks, including baked goods!!! The doggie cookies and cupcakes look so flippin’ cute! They have one that looks like a taco! If I didn’t have to drive all the way back to San Jose, I’d totally buy a bunch for my dog! They also have some very nice collars with swarovski crystals. I wish I had a small dog so I could go crazy in here :(

Cold Nose Warm Heart… Sooo True!
We came across this store while we were on our staycation. I was carrying our pug, Bambi and this store gave us an opportunity to rest.
The store is well ventilated, clean, and full of cool pet accessories and items. There is also food and things that you may need to care for your pooch.
The employee at the cash register was very nice and said hello to me and Bambi. Every customer in the store was also nice.
The highlight for me was finally finding a pair of socks for men that has pugs on it! $ 10 for a pair of socks maybe a bit too much for some but I will not let an opportunity like this pass.
Anyway, thank you very much for your beautiful business and I hope to see you guys again when we come back to Palm Springs.

Stopped by during the street fair on my visit down here, just as normal it was a great experience. Bill was very friendly and gave my dog Eva a treat. Then later we came in while the Stella and Chewys rep was there, she had lots of free samples to give us to take home for my cat to try also! I love this place, and no matter that I have a pit bull they don’t discriminate here they are always friendly to my baby girl!!!

We stop here every time we’re in Palm Springs. It’s a little «dog-​centric» but I guess the name of the shop hints at that anyway. So, we just end up buying dog stuff for our friends and family who have dogs while our cats cry at home because they’re not «spoiled enough» LOL!

Went in here yesterday to shop for leather dog collars for our gang back home. The had a nicely made selection, as well as lots other really nice items for our pups. I do not usually go in this type of store, but glad I did. Service and assist was just right. She offered small amounts of product info and let me look thru store, and then she attempted more conversation about our hounds. I am usually not full of info to share with anyone for access to my private world, but it was nice of her to ask anyway. So… this is a nicely equipped pet store and worthy of look-​see, located in the hot touristy area of old downtown PalmSprings.

More than a few gift ideas if you are shopping for someone else.
It is on the main strip in PS and is worth stopping in on your way to Great Shakes.

I didn’t notice I was contacted within 2 days of my initial review, I must admit, sounds like great customer service. As you can see from the comment, Robert B. has gone above and beyond in order to leave me a happy customer, and I highly admire that in the most sincere way.
Unfortunately, I visited the store while on vacation and will not be able to accept the replacement offer.
As I recall the treat, I can still hear the audible crunch. I obviously didn’t try it, but I would still make the suggestion to refine the recipe of the «cookie» and the icing. Softer cookie, harder icing, should make for a much better experience.
