Helix Urgent Care

I was really disappointed with my experience here. I came in on a Sunday, and although there was no one else waiting besides myself, and it still took a good bit of time to be seen by the nurse that takes your vitals. During this time (keeping in mind that I was there for a severe migraine,) they were playing the movie «Billy Madison» at SUPER HIGH VOLUME in the waiting room, with every obnoxious noise blaring into my ears… WHY?! After finally having my vitals taken, I was put in a room where I waited about 25 minutes to be seen by a doctor (I could hear the staff laughing and whatnot down the hallway, so I’m not sure why it took so long.) When the nurse practitioner eventually came in, she was licking her fingers because she was eating something (eww.) Then, she took my temperature and told me she was going to write me a prescription, without ever really talking to me about my symptoms or what was going on. She then proceeded to prescribe me a highly addictive barbiturate to treat the migraines, without asking about my personal or family history whatsoever, which I was EXTREMELY upset about (didn’t say anything to her… Just didn’t fill it.) I came there looking for some insight on what was causing the migraines that were so bad that they were blurring my vision… And I feel like I wasted my $ 100, to be honest. I would have been better off sucking up a bill at the emergency room.
On a related note, I paid for my visit in cash, and found it odd & a little off-​putting that I didn’t receive change for the $ 100 that I gave them to pay. I understand it’s only $ 1, but I still thought it was weird that she took my money and put it in a cash drawer with plenty of change, yet didn’t give me any… The whole experience was weird. If there is a next time for a walk-​in clinic visit for me, it won’t be this one.

I am writing this as I currently sit in the back room waiting for someone to see me. They may claim it’s only a 15 minute wait before they see you if you’re next in line, but they make you wait an additional hour in the back room. I have been here waiting after seeing the nurse and no one has so much as told me why they are taking so long. The ONLY nice thing here is the property and building itself. Do NOT come here to this location, they suck and are taking more from you than what’s in your wallet. THEY TAKE TOO MUCH TIME

I recently moved from TX and found out my health insurance does not work outside of TX. I have never been to a walk in clinic before, not sure what I was expecting, but I was blown away by the level of care provided AND the customer service that they have going on over there. The Dr I saw (I wish I remembered his name, tall guy) was really cool — nice, smart, and helpful, a combination rarely found in doctors, in my experience. The truth is, not all doctors are created equal. I was taking this medication to raise my testosterone, and instead of just writing the script and rushing me out of the office he took the time to actually review my records and advise me that I should get some blood work done to confirm that I still needed to be on it, as this condition will sometimes reverse itself.
The front office staff is amazing. Fast, friendly, efficient, intelligent, and pretty too! Every one of the front office staff I talked to made me really happy that I picked Helix to go to. I don’t know if an office manager might read this, but I’m thinking a raise might be in order for the front office :) They were that good, and they really came thru for me, helping to get that other doctors office to fax my records. You can really tell when there is a attitude amongst the staff of actually caring about the patients and wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of the people they came across, and that is how it feels at this place, at least at the Lake Worth location.
I get insurance in a few days, which Helix takes and I’m going to keep going there. I’m not even going to look for a primary care physician, Helix has a family practice that’s second to none. Good job Helix, keep it up and thank you :)

I took my child to this clinic with a fever. I was checked in immediately and staff was very comforting and educated. The Dr was in a few minutes later. He did a complete exam on my child and prescribed what needed. I was very please with this clinic and will be using it often.

Came in on a Friday at 11:00 with an extreme fever. My family was traveling for the weekend and we got in the night before and the fever came on all the sudden. There were 1 – 2 other people in there. I thought it couldn’t take long. Took them 30 minutes to get me checked in. They took my temp and I had a 103 fever. All they did was sent me to a room, no meds. I was miserable and freezing. They sent me back to the room and tested for strep, told me it would be 5 minutes for the test. 40 minutes later they confirmed it wasn’t strep. Then he decided to test for flu, took 20 minutes, took the sample, 45 minutes later no flu, then another 30 minutes before the dr came in to say they had no idea what it was but they would give me a shot and a scrip for a z pack. 30 minutes later, administered shot. The dr was adequate and unfortunately what little bedside manner he had was the best of the staff. The nursing staff was impatient in spite of a light schedule and terribly inefficient. All said and done it took them nearly 3 hours to determine nothing. I was so miserable. What a joke.

It’s always a long wait. They are on the phone more than they tend to patients. It takes one like poke I mean I could do it myself. I come ahead to be prepared and here 22min later still nothing. What ever happen to the good medical centers
