Palm Mountain Resort and Spa

If your looking for peaceful or relaxing lodging… look elsewhere. This was perhaps the worst lodging experience in my memory! I’ve stayed in much worse hotels during my travels. Even less expensive hotels had redeeming qualities. We had 3 nights of noise and frustrations. Day #1 our door would not lock when we closed the door, they did fix this issue reasonably quickly BUT we missed an appointment while waiting for them to do so, Night #1, was awakened at 2:30am by the people 2 doors down partying on their patio, I finally asked them (nicely) to keep it down people are trying to sleep. They did take it inside, so it was a bit quieter, but the noise continued. Then nights #2 and #3 some one turned music on that kept waking us up for most of the night. FYI bring a camping lantern when showering. The barroom lights are on a motion detector and turn off in under a minute. I damn near fell in the shower the first time it happened… most frustrating!
Save yourself the disappointment and stay else where! I certainly will the next time I’m in Palm Springs. I have to give this 1 star or I can’t post this. It’s giving this place too much credit

Came here for a romantic getaway and really had a nice time here. Located in a nice part of downtown Palm Springs, this resort has a cute pool area surrounded with fire pits located in sweet little areas on the property.
We really liked the air conditioned room which was v e r y spacious and clean.
Not to too fancy, but definitely above par.

This place was ok for the price… Happy I found a groupon deal and went for it! Me and my daughter had a semi nice room with a poolside view. The first night we stayed we were rudely awakened by drunk girls at 3Am. The next day I went to wash my hands and found out the water was turned off (with no notification and was turned on about 1 hr later). Loved the room however, when I returned home I found that all of my clothes (some of which remained in my luggage the whole time) reeked of cleaning/​room neutralizer (smelt like the maid sprayed lysol all over my stuff and im a clean person)…The place was close to all Downtown spots and I would return.

Great room and location at an affordable price. Came in June for our anniversary. I think they upgraded us to a pool view for free which was awesome.
Our AC was broken the whole first night which sucked! When I went to tell them that were less than nice about it. We didn’t sleep most of the night cause it was so hot. They repaired it in a couple hours but we’re not apologetic and didn’t offer any perks to show they cared about our discomfort.
Great pool and walking distance to everything. Definitely recommend.

Located in a great location in downtown, this resort is a little older and not hip as the other newer ones nearby. Here’s the skinny: Although there is no valet service, check in was great because customer service was very friendly. We got assigned to a room on the outer bungalow next to the parking lot. This room smelled so bad– it basically reeked of urine. When we let the front desk know, they moved us to another room and it was a nice upgrade because of its availability. The building we moved to was in a newer area and included a nicer patio along with a mini firepit. The bathroom was way larger and the amenities inside were way nicer… and most importantly, this room smelled great. The air conditioning worked great and the in-​room microwave and fridge was very helpful. The shower was large and includes a dispenser for soap and lotion. Now about the pool– it was a nice clean one with great views of the mountain while swimming or just laying out. There is light music playing in the background but there is no bar on premise that I saw and there was definitely no cocktails available anywhere near the pool. There was a mini jacuzzi nearby but in 110+ weather, no thanks. Beach towels are available and were included in the room. The service here was great and the hotel itself was quiet and clean. I would stay here again if I needed to but I would prefer to stay at a place that has a restaurant or more amenities on site… and perhaps a bit more modern. However, the wifi here was pretty fast so that was very helpful!

Google what the difference between a hotel and a resort is before you come her.
Don’t get trapped into the the timeshare presentation.
The room are large but outdated with mismatch furniture.
Our room had a nice view of the walk way of the other building. Ok let’s be real… had to keep the shades closed.
Bathroom was outdated and did not feel clean. Nothing says resort like a Walk in show with shower curtain as a door.
The people at the desk could careless.
Would I come here again? No.

Just returned from my yearly F’ing SPRINGBREAK trip… OMG, what happened??? You remodeled this awkwardly large, echoing lobby with nothing in it and charge me a «few» C-​Notes for a 2 night stay?
When I booked this and agreed to the rate, I thought, man the rooms must be puss. I WAS SORELY MISTAKEN!
Everything was broke, walls were dirty and you still don’t have room service??? WTF?
I don’t know if I’ll be back. Try making some noticeable, worthy upgrades then maybe I’ll consider it. Shooooot, now I gotta sweat for my Starbys

Don’t believe the other reviews! This place is great! We read some of the other reviews and were scared to get the 2 nights we were staying out here and immediately regretted it upon check in. The staff is great, the rooms are big and there’s great little for pits by the pool. Definitely staying here again when we visit Palm Springs again. Well worth the price!

Great location however my boyfriend and i purchased food from the vending machines here and got food poisoning looked at

Customer service was mediocre at best. Day of they changed our check in time from 3 to 4 pm. Over the phone we were told we can check out at 1 pm. We get here and the front desk tells us we have to call the morning of to find out if we can get a late checkout. We call that morning and they said 12 was latest time for check out. Oh and our key didn’t work when we went to go to our room… operations were handled poorly. The room smelt musty and there were pieces of hair on the door and in the bathroom. My recommendation is to try somewhere else that offers better reviews… even if you have to pay a little more. I will next time.

We stayed 4 nights at the «Palm Mountain Resort and Spa» and were somewhat underwhelmed. First of all this is not a «resort» by any stretch of the imagination; it’s more like a glorified Motel 6 with a resort fee. And spa? If there was any kind of spa there we were never given any information about it nor could we find any information about it in our room.
As other reviewers have noted, the location is prime if you’re interested in Palm Springs’ main drag where restaurants and tourist shops are. It’s located one block/​60 seconds away from the busiest section of Palm Canyon Drive. The grounds appeared to be well-​maintained and the maintenance staff were pleasant and courteous with us while we were guests.
The downside, however, of staying at Palm Mountain included the following:
Run down room: the closets wouldn’t open unless we bent down and pulled the door from the bottom along the track. The only furniture in the room were a rickety desk chair with a small desk, the bed with two end tables, and a TV stand. That meant only one of us got to sit in a chair while we were in the room.
Bad pillows: the pillows were just droopy sacks containing various sizes of hard lumps that could not be flattened out or reshaped. These pillows were impossible to sleep with, and should have been put in a dumpster, not on a hotel bed. The bed itself, however, was fairly comfortable.
Malfunctioning TV/​cable service: some of the cable channels in the room worked some of the days we were there and other days they did not. When they did not all we got was a black screen. When we tried the next morning the same channel was there broadcasting away.
Thin walls/​poor insulation: the walls in our room were so thin we could hear everything going on in the room next door and everything going on down on the sidewalk along the street outside. At 5 am we were blasted out of bed by the people in the room next door turning on their TV. We could hear their TV shows and their conversations so clearly it sounded like they were in the same room with us.
Loud AC: the AC unit in the room sounded as loud as a jet engine. Conversation in the room was impossible when the AC unit was running, as was watching TV without turning the volume up to the max. It also made sleeping difficult because we were jarred awake every time the unit turned on throughout the night, which was every 15 minutes or so due to the poor insulation of the room.
Unusable wireless: the Wi-​Fi was so bad we had to make other arrangements to use the internet while on the property. Business travelers beware.
Construction across the street: A high-​rise is under construction across the street from the hotel. They began using metal saws to cut steel beams at 5:45am every morning. Due to the poor sound insulation in the room it sounded like we were right there with the workers on the 4^th floor of the building under construction, wearing our hard-​hats while still in bed. Unfortunately, we did not have ear-​plugs like the construction workers undoubtedly did.
When we checked out we asked what the daily resort fee of $ 19.30 per day ($ 17.00 fee plus $ 2.30 tax on the fee) covered and we were told things like a free daily newspaper (available in the lobby), access to an off-​site health club, and a shuttle that runs between the motel and the airport. We were told about none of this when we checked in.
Next time we’re in Palm Springs we’ll be skipping the Palm Mountain Motel (er, oops I mean Resort) and checking out different lodging in the same area, of which there is plenty.

We got this hotel on groupon. At first it appeared to be a pretty nice hotel. Good location near downtown. Then I noticed the 1980’s furniture, my key to outside gate didn’t work two days in a row, a noisy pool attendant rearranging patio furniture at 7:00am…all rooms facing the pool.

No frills, functional hotel. My bf and I decided to do a mini staycation to Palm Springs last minute and we booked this place because it was affordable and had a prime location, 5 min walk from the main area.
We just booked directly through the site the day before and it was only ~$ 132 (including taxes, fees, and $ 17 resort fee). I don’t think the prices on Groupon or Kayak were that different, so do your research.
The front desk people were friendly and fast. We checked-​in quickly with no problems. Check-​out was also easy and the invoice we requested was accurate. The room itself was… yes, looks a little outdated and not fancy schmancy, but it did not look like a scene out of The Shining!
+ It was spacious and had a small table, some armchairs, a microwave, mini fridge coffee maker, and some coffee and tea packets/​pods.
+ Heater worked well
+ comfy bed
+ Bathroom is tiny, but sufficient, water pressure not so great… Plenty of fresh towels.
I appreciated that the TV had several good channels. We hung out in the main area where all the restaurants/​bars are and retired to our room. After a long day of driving, hiking, walking, and eating, lying down on the comfy bed and watching a marathon of Matthew Mcconaughey (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, the Lincoln Lawyer…) on TNT was awesome.
The next morning, we called and requested a late check-​out with no problem. I wish it wasn’t so cold so we could sit at the cute little firepits they had outside. Anyway, this place was quite sufficient if you’re looking for something affordable and functional.

We arrived late in the evening and the two employees upfront were very helpful. They checked us in however said we could speak to the ‘concierge’ and directed us to this guy in the corner.
We went over and he then started to sell us a timeshare which was aggravating as the hotel employee called him the ‘concierge’.
Be wary of that part and the rest of your experience here will be very good. Our room was large enough to pull out a bed. Clean and great for one night. Towel rack broke off but they supply all your shampoo and lotion needs. Hair dryer, iron, extra pillows all in the room … Will stay here again. Affordable and right in the heart of downtown. Which is perfect if you don’t want to drive anywhere.

My husband and I stayed her for 3 nights and had a decent experience. For starters, I wouldn’t call this place a resort, since there is no on site food/​dining areas; They have a $ 17 resort fee, even though it lacks resort amenities.
Pros: location couldn’t be any better. We were minutes from restaurants and shopping. The hotel has beautiful mountain views and great landscape around the pool area. Pool is nice, heated and deep. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great. There was a great variety of channels and free wifi.
Cons: Our room would get very humid every time we went out in town; the AC was rather loud so we couldn’t keep it on for long. No food on site; we had to eat out every single day (4 days/​3nights) which was nice but I would appreciate having options to eat at the «resort». It felt more like mix of a motel/​hotel than a resort.
Overall, this is a good place for the price & location. I would stay here again.

Very surprised at the other low reviews! Stayed there thanksgiving weekend and there were some renovations going on. Maybe we got a new room, there was even an extra kids room on the side.

We just stayed here for 3 days and had a GREAT experience ALL the way around!!! Surprised to see such negative reviews. My girlfriend is a former airline stewardess and a big world traveler. We Loved the pool — the room was GREAT and over all it was VERY QUIET and peaceful! The room did not smell. Loved the fire pits and its incredibly close — perfectly located.
The front desk and ALL staff were VERY nice, friendly and helpful. The bed were very comfortable!
We will be back again soon :)

Horrible place to stay. You get what you pay for that’s for sure!
Rooms smells horrible! There are outdated wall air conditioning units that emit a foul odor. The room seemed to never reach a comfortable temperature and the unit was so loud you could hardly ignore it was on!
We originally had to stay in a downstairs unit. I just could not have my child sleep in a room that smelled that horrible. I called the front desk and the staff agreed to move us to a 2^nd story unit with pool view. The staff seemed annoyed at my request.
Once we got to the second unit it smelled just the same if not worse.
The restrooms are small with very dim lights. Our toilet paper dispenser was broken and we did not have an ice bucket. There were no toiletries except for cheap hand soap.
I’m not sure the room was even cleaned and/​or stocked before we got there actually.
I Could not muster the strength to walk or allow my child to walk barefoot since the carpet looked, felt, and smelled like mold and filth mutated into one.
I luckily brought our own sheets and placed those down before going to bed. I made sure to put our bags high up out of fear that something would come out at night and crawl in there.
The pool is small and closes at 10. They will kick you out! There are no towels available poolside. You are warned at the front desk (which was located in a very small and uncomfortable portable room) that the pool towels were in the room and we would be charged extra should any go missing.
There were no restaurants or food options on site.
Plenty of locations within walking distance which is the only reason I give a 1 star.
Worst of all I accidentally dropped a bottle of water in the little hallway where the closet is and when I began wiping the floor a bunch of bed bugs began coming out from under the mini fridge! It was disgusting. Then I went to check out bed and saw stains of blood on the pillow cases. There were also bed bugs near the backboard… Yuck!
Needless to say we packed right up that very instant and skipped our free tickets to a water park for the following morning. Drove home that very night out of pure disgust and disappointment!

Grounds: pretty landscaping, lots of citrus trees throughout the property. There’s two fire pits outside the gated pool area where you can lounge. Downfall is that there is A LOT of construction going on… watch your kids… construction areas are not secured. I was able to walk into some of the rooms they are working on (yes, I wanted to see what was going on!!) lol
Pool: very small… just a little bigger than what people typically have in their homes. Water temp was comfortable. Plenty of lounge chairs, umbrella stands and tables with chairs to have a nice lunch. They also have a spa.
Resort fee: I paid $ 9 p/​day, this included wifi and parking. Wifi was slow and parking is VERY limited. There’s plenty of parking across the street in a public parking garage.
Room: we stayed in room 129, ground level with private patio and garden view. Seems like every room has a patio or balcony… which is nice. Nice flat screen tv, coffee maker with flavored creamers and teas and mini fridge were avail.
CONS: bathroom had what looked like mold damage along the wall right outside the shower/​tub. We had a king bed, which was broken! I sat on the edge of the bed and made the opposite side come up! (I’m not a big person)…so every time I went into bed I had to approach it from the other side! Everything looked dingy… from the chairs to the carpet. Walls and ceilings were dirty as it something splashed all over the place.
Staff: check in staff were very friendly.
Location: is perfect! Walking distance to everything! (Only reason why we didn’t leave to check in at another place!!!)

Do not come to this place. You have been warned.
First off; it has random «smoking-​okay» rooms that are placed RIGHT next to their supposedly, non-​smoking rooms… therefore, people on the balcony smoking donate their mortality rate to non-​smokers through the Air Conditioning /​Heater unit that pulls air from– guess where? the air outside that permeates with cigarette, marijuana, tobacco, cigar smoke. The manager stated this was in it of itself not a good reason enough to move the occupants, which is ridiculous!
We had that occur but luckily our room had a bed sheet that was turned inside out and when we pulled it open slightly and found soiled remains, we were able to change our room due to this reason (the carpeting was filthy, I’ve seen casino’s and gas station bathrooms cleaner than Palm Mountain Resort and Spa’s rooms!!!).
Our new room which smelled like a donkey had dwelled in it after carrying the sweet baby Jesus in Mother Mary’s womb across the desert was also problematic. why? Because we opened the fridge and found an entire meal for a couple with five children after eating out at the local Home Town Buffet had stored their leftovers inside whilst waiting for the rapture and end of the world. To say it smelled would be putting the word, «smell» and «odor» to shame.
They moved us to another room, even more uncomfortable and dirty (cobwebs present– no doubt as a result of their spectacular amount of turnover and business and people rushing to book a room here) but at least it didn’t have any of the above disgusting issues.
As it was Christmas, our family had to deal with this and we didn’t bother moving since they would not refund us at all and the only thing that happened was a measly resort fee waived (of which a pool with two fire pits is a sad excuse of a «resort» by any means).
SUMMARY:
Save yourself, your health and your mental well-​being and do not come to this place that should be featured in the next Hollywood blockbuster of a horror movie.
