The Monroe Palm Springs

I got upgraded to a very nice room (as I asked to be away from noise You can forget about that as there is noise from two main roads with trucks running all night. So if you want sleep you wont get it here if you are a light sleeper.) The room was clean and robes and slippers were a nice touch,
They had construction and the electric was off 2am until 3:30 next day. No heat, no hot water, no lights, no coffee no nothing, a really bummer. And I was told they knew that it was going to happen. AND NO COMPENSATION. The room was already paid for and they double billed me. I had to call to get them to take it off my visa. You might ant to check your bill payments.

4 stars overall! Booked here last minute because the hotel we originally booked was In a bad location. We booked our room and drove right over.
Rafael at the desk was very nice answered all our questions gave us suggestions and checked us in. There is coffee tea and snacks at the front desk ²⁴⁄₇!
The hotel is one of the first small hotels as you drive into Palm Springs. It’s about 6 blocks from downtown, where there is tons of restraints bars music dancing casino everything! There is even a free trolley that takes u to downtown, runs until 1am and stops right in front of the hotel!!!
The hotel is a motel style looking building and the rooms have been remodeled nicely. The beds were not so comfortable and and you can hear everything going on outside very loud! The pool area is cute and even has a couple cabanas.
The highlight of the stay was the breakfast that was included! They served breakfast at the diner across the street, Ricks diner. The place was great and the food was tasty!!!
I only stayed one night, I don’t think I would suggest staying here for more than 2 nights. Definitely convenient for a quick overnight or weekend!

Found a Groupon for this place and me and my wife spent 3 nights 4 days here really reasonable price inside was comfortable had everything we needed minus a stove but had a microwave so we made due. We were promised though on Groupon a bottle of wine which they didn’t have and we were in no way compensated for that, even if it was just a cheap bottle it would have been nice to know they were keeping their end of the deal. Would definitely go back anytime

I visited this place over the MLK weekend with my family, which I booked through
. Since we needed two rooms, I called two days ahead of time to request two rooms to be near. The lady I talked to told me it’s done, but when I arrived, there was only one room under my reservation. Jimmy helped me out, but two rooms were opposite sides and different floors. :(Instead of full explanation about the facility or breakfast as I check-​in, I had to ask every single thing to find out the location and voucher and etc. when I needed, which made me to visit the lobby so many times.
The breakfast voucher is for the Rick’s restaurant across street from the Monroe. The voucher basically covers #3 on the breakfast meal (two eggs, hash potatoes, toast, and drink) while you have an option to choose from the kids meal. If you don’t want, you can choose anything on the menu and get $ 3 discount. Even though crossing over to the Rick’s was pretty dangerous, it’s good that the voucher is good till 12 PM.
Unlike the sign, the pool is open till 11PM, and the facility fee is $ 6.50, not $ 5.
The parking is free, and the rooms are pretty clean.
Overall, the staffs are very friendly while you might need to visit them a few times to get what you need. Don’t trust the signs too much here. ASK them directly and you will have the most up-​to-​date answers. If I have to come back here for any reason, I would probably do only because of the decent price and close proximity.

It is a nice hotel until I went to the pool and I was staying there until some Russian old lady who knows shit came up to me and kids and kicked us out we showed her our key and we had friends there but know «hi lady’s how are you LEAVE THE POOL NOW your not guests»

Clean and nice, a great place to sleep and what a great value too, especially the free breakfast etc. the staff are very pleasant. loved the papaya shampoo :) free trolley alll around town.

Stayed here for the weekend for a friend’s wedding. I was a flight attendant for years and have stayed in all types of hotels.
This place is a renovated motel 6 upgraded to look modern. It’s decorated very cute.
But what really makes this place a great place to stay is the staff. They are AMAZING!!!
After a two hour drive on a Friday night from Orange county they were so welcoming. While checking in this very cheerful guy greets you with a cocktail. Now that’s how I like to start my vacation.
Brandee (who worked the desk all weekend) was more then happy to assist you with all requests with a great attitude. I would definitely stay here again knowing I would be treated with amazing customer service

My friend and I stayed at The Monroe Palm Springs for a long weekend (3 nights, Fri-​Sat-​Sun) to attend a wedding. The hotel they reserved rooms for guests was out of our price range so we decided to research the surrounding hotels to find a better deal. Well, we couldn’t have found anything better than this! After reading a lot of reviews (mostly positive) we decided to take a chance and go with this place as it fit nicely in our price range and once I read «free breakfast» I was pretty much sold.
We arrived Friday evening. Rented our car from the airport and within 10 minutes we were at the hotel. Parking was FREE which was a plus because I saw other hotels charging $ 10-​$ 25 a night. When we walked in the door to the front desk we were greeted by a happy, friendly man, Raphael who promptly asked us if we would like a cocktail while we checked in. He didn’t have to ask me twice, what a great kick start to our little wedding weekend vacation. Check in was a breeze, there was only a minor bump as the first room he assigned us to the room keys did not work. I went back to the front desk and he quickly swapped us to the room next door (206) and apologized for me having to come back down. He also offered a suite for our last night stay which I accepted and thanked him for. His kind gesture surprised me, not many hotels would offer this for a minor mishap. (Unfortunately, we never made it to the suite as we were preoccupied with wedding activities but hopefully I’ll get to check it out on my next visit because I definitely plan on going back!)
Room 206 — when we walked in we were very pleased! You read the reviews on-​line but you never know until you see it with your own two eyes. We had a standard room, two queen sized beds, mini fridge, safe, TV, and FREE Wi-​Fi. We inspected the room and lifted the mattresses, all was good. The shower head was a bit crazy, so be sure it’s facing more toward the wall and the curtain is tucked in the tub. I learned this the hard way and got water all over the floor. The only thing missing from the room that I would have liked was a floor length mirror. I did like how the sink/​mirror/​getting ready area was outside the bathroom (it made getting ready quicker).
The 411 on the FREE breakfast — We were given vouchers for each day we were there (3 nights, 2 guests, 6 vouchers). The free breakfast voucher is good at Rick’s Restaurant which is located across the street from the hotel. There is no sign on the restaurant but someone at the front desk will point you in the right direction. I would have liked to see a cross walk there because I didn’t feel the most safe crossing the street but it was fine. Now, the vouchers are good on a few choices, not the entire menu. If you’re looking for a hungry man’s breakfast most likely you’re going to want to order something else off the menu but for my friend and I this was perfect. I ordered off the kids menu getting an egg, toast, hash brown potatoes, and a piece of bacon, the voucher also includes an option of coffee, tea, or juice.
Side note — the hotel has fresh fruit, coffee, tea, granola bars, and a water bubbler at the front desk all FREE, so I was able to bring fresh fruit with me to enjoy with my breakfast at Ricks and was able to keep refilling my water bottle so I did not have to buy water. It’s the little things that save you money!
MAID SERVICE: we were at breakfast for 30−45min and when we returned our room was cleaned :) my friend also requested an iron and ironing board which was left in our room.
POOL/​CABANAS: looked clean, we never went swimming though. I dipped my feet in the pool and Jacuzzi which both were at nice temperatures. The cabanas weren’t anything special, the cushions were a little stained so I wouldn’t have laid on them without putting a towel over, but you don’t have to rent them which is a plus, if they’re open you’re free to use it. When we were checking them out a group was utilizing one for a birthday party and they seemed to be having a good old time!
THINGS TO DO: besides the wedding we attended at the Escena Golf Course we spent half of a day at the Aerial Tramway (I’ll be doing a separate review on this… one word AMAZING!) The hotel is pretty close to everything, when we didn’t want to use our rental car because we wanted to drink an über ride was $ 5-​$ 8 down the road to where all the restaurants, bars, and shops were.
STAFF: Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you all for such a nice stay!

Bad experience. Disgustingly dirty floors. Hard and uncomfortable bed. Tweakers and alcoholics LIVE there. It’s only a remodeled motel 6 so yes, people live there and stay up all night leaving cigarettes and alcohol bottles laying around. Bad experience overall– won’t stay again.

Had a great sisters weekend at the Monroe. It’s not your over the top hotel, but it’s a nice relaxing small hotel with some FREE cabanas, great shaded area and a cool pool. The manager Clarence was very attentive and allowed us to play our music with their speakers for pool area. We will def. return soon.

I had to make a reservation same day using Expedia coming home from Arizona. Couldn’t get home due to the massive fire on the 15 freeway and we were being rerouted to Palm Springs from Barstow. My family and I were coming home from a vacation at the Grand Canyon so I thought why not take an extra vacation day in PS?!
Checking in was a breeze. The gentleman and woman working the front desk were friendly and got us into our room quickly. I was surprised to see how well kept everything was. The beds and pillows were extremely comfy and I really liked the flooring. No cheap carpet here! I loved the wood looking vinyl. The sink area was great being separate from the shower and toilet, just my personal preference.
Took the kids to downtown for some ice cream and shopping since we had been cooped up in the car for so long. The Monroe isn’t too far away but we drove just to be in the AC. You can get to DTPS by walking but it was too hot for me.
We went night swimming in the pool and I enjoyed taking a few moments to myself in the spa. After driving for three days it was much needed. For the price, I think it’s a steal. The only suggestion I would make is perhaps invest in softer pool towels for guests. They were a little rough and seemed to be old bath towels up-​cycled. Other than that, I would stay here again.

Great deal on groupon but not what the pictures describe at all. Renovated maybe with new paint but not somewhere I would recommend. Hope in the shower head, noise fan in restroom and BUG in my bed. Pool area was ok small and not cleaned regularly but lots of seats and allows beverages. Stay here if you must but not for a mini get away.

We enjoyed the room and the pool area. Bed was very uncomfortable and the Jr suite was just OK for the price.
I liked the misters by the pool and there were enough lounge chairs for everyone.
The owner or manager came out and handed Popsicles to everyone so that was a cute touch.
Our room was on the first floor on the corner by the parking lot and stairs and it was very noisy especially at night, my husband and I were woken up at least 4 times… Try and get a room that is not near the parking and not near a stair case.
Also there was a 5 $ charge that is not disclosed and not a part of the room charge or tax, just tack it in to the room fee and be up front about it.

Decent hotel for a last minute stay in Palm Springs. It’s a newly renovated Motel 6, and they did a pretty good job sprucing the place up.
Our two queen bed room was overall clean and «modern». New furnishings, paint, etc. Although our bed felt more like a full, it was comfy enough.
Noise isolation isn’t great here. We could hear neighboring showers turning on for a couple seconds, doors slamming, and kids running along the walkway outside. Had to crank up the AC/​fan to try and drown out the noise.
The pool area is alright, nothing special. The water wasn’t cold enough, especially for the hot months I’d imagine.
They offer a free breakfast voucher for Ricks across the street. Two eggs, hash, toast, and coffee. Or $ 3 off anything. Overall quite pleased with the food there.
Overall decent value considering it was Coachella weekend. Reasonable rate, free breakfast, and proximity to everything.

The manager, Denise Serrano, was extremely helpful and accommodating when there was a discrepancy with our room (by no fault of hers at all).
She was kind, professional and was very understanding. She represents what true customer service should provide.
We very much appreciate her help and had a much more enjoyable stay in Palm Springs (our first time) because of The Monroe and especially Denise. Thank you!

they have revamped this hotel. The floors are lovely and not sticky. It is reasonably priced, clean and relaxing. We were her in February. The free breakfast is a good touch, except you can only get the eggs, toast and potatoe option, but hey, I can always eat somewhere else. The bed here at Monroe is so comfortable. What I liked about the place was the nice laminate flooring. NO carpet. I prefer that actually.
Not bad. Now, even upon reading the other reviews, lets just say, I think this place has cleaned up its act. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the front desk staff were on their cell phones alot and texting or going outside and talking and it was hard to find front desk help.

We had a wedding at the Riviera and wanted to stay at a near by hotel that was reasonably priced. The Monroe Palm Springs was perfect! Great location, really cool look from the outside and fantastic staff!
The check-​in process was early and speedy and the room was clean and trendy. We didn’t have time to utilize the pool because we were only there for one night, but it looked great.
One highlight was my fiancé forgetting his belt (for his suit to wear to the wedding) and the front desk lent him a belt to wear! We were really pleased with how accommodating the staff was.
The next morning, we enjoyed Rick’s Diner across the street with our free breakfast coupon. The food was delicious and the price was right! Free!
Lastly, we requested a later check-​out (after our early check-​in) and the gal at the front desk said «no problem!» We’re very happy with the stay and would stay at The Monroe again!

Let me count the ways this hotel sucks.
1. Dirty floors! After walking around the room for just a few minutes, my feet were black on the soles. Totally filthy.
2. Broken and wrong shower knobs. One knob was the wrong type of knob, and the other fell off.
3. Missing shower curtain liner. There was no plastic liner, only a cloth curtain. The floor got really wet. With the floor already being filthy, this was just awful.
4. Tattered towels. The bath towels were falling apart.
5. Refrigerator door opened backwards, making it difficult to get anything in or out of it.
6. A/​C unit was VERY loud, and bed was directly up against it, touching it.
7. Loud street noise.
8. Window and screen was dirty.
We were scheduled to stay 3 nights, but left after 1. Save your sanity and stay somewhere else! We went to the Hyatt and stayed there for only $ 50 more per night! We got a great suite with a sofa and office, and a balcony!!!
