This place is not a RESORT! It’s a Motel that needs some serious upgrades the pictures you see is of the pool of the website are in the back of the Motel which is the nicest part of the place. The front canope is old and it needs to be replaced I was so disappointed with this place, but I had no choice since I had traded my week for Palm Springs. The air is not central air they have very loud air conditioners units which would not let me sleep. The only good thing is the kitchen in the room. They also don’t have shampoo or soap in the bathroom, they have a dispenser like you use in public restroom for soap and in the shower they have the same thing. We had no maid service except on Tuesdays when they clean the linens so when I checked in on Friday I probably got the sheets from the previous guests … Yikes! Overall I would not recommend this place. You might as well stay at Motel 6 at least there you know what to expect. This place needs to be upgraded to year 2014 with the right amenities could be a very cute place. The place was also quiet. After 6 pm you cannot find anyone in the office because they leave, there is emergency numbers. We ran out of toilet paper so we had to go to store to buy some because you are on your own after 6 pm. UNHAPPYGUEST!

With Palm Springs temperatures reaching 110 degrees in the second week of June, it seems like a ghost town. Not because there’s no one there, but everyone mostly stays inside, like bears hibernating for the winter(you will, however, see some bears roaming around town in pairs – hee hee, a little joke about the dominant population of the area). Ultimately, it’s just eerily dead everywhere you go, and so unlike the months when the termperatures are comfortable, traffic snarls Palm Canyon Drive and people wait endlessly for an opportunity to strike a pose in the outdoor restaurant patios. Unless you really love this oppressive, furnace-in-the-face kind of heat, you won’t really want to spend much time outside either, even if your notion is to simply catch a few rays and enjoy the pool – take it from me(Mr. Lily White), you’ll get easily burned in the midday sun after only 30 – 60 minutes Anyway, Villas of Palm Springs is one of those places that’s not easily found on hotel booking sites, or when it is, there’s seemingly no vacancies. WE would have NEVER sought out or considered staying in such a place, except that we were looking for something/anything that allowed us to utilize timeshare points we transferred over from Wyndham to RCI – a use ‘em or lose ‘em ploy that doesn’t really pan out when you discover how impossible it is to find anything on RCI that gives you consecutive stays, plus most of their«partner» hotels are substandard properties that rate a shaky two stars. There is nothing specifically wrong with Villas of Palm Springs. It has a slightly rundown exterior, in a one story motel-style configuration that is otherwise clean and maintained, but without any attempts to upgrade and modernize, which would not likely pay off anyway. This is one of many, many places in town that might once have been called«boutique» hotels, and had they been kept up, might still carry a certain retro appeal, but most of these places just look like old motels now. The only advantage staying here is the proximity to the downtown center of Palm Springs(a five minute drive) – especially if clothes and knick knack shopping, bar hopping and restaurant patronage appeals to you. We booked the only thing available on the RCI website, a «studio,» and despite the fact that the place was clearly empty(no cars in the parking lot and nobody at the pool the whole week), they annoyingly declined to upgrade us to a larger unit when asked. The first challenge(and a HUGE negative) we encountered was the airconditioning… in our room, a wall unit that labored hard for the first 7+ evening hours after we got in, but had still failed to cool the room by the time we wanted to retire for the night. This made for a very uncomfortable first night(oh, and the mattresses are really hard, so that doesn’t help either). However, I noticed the unit right next door had a full-sized outdoor slab air conditioner, like one you have at home. So, while we suffered with that substandard unit they’d poked into the wall in a corner, we could have been in the adjacent room with a «real» air conditioner. So, two suggestions: 1) make sure you’re getting a unit that has sufficient airconditioning; and/or 2) call ahead and ask them turn it on hours(or maybe days) in advance of your arrival. Honestly, it took about a day and a half before our room felt«comfortable.» There are two pools; we only used the«west» one, which was literally 2 – 3 steps from our west-facing room door. This was highly advantageous given the place was dead, but I’m wondering if the proximity might not be so great if you have fellow guests who are drunk and noisy at the pool into the wee hours(there are no management people on premises to enforce a curfew, if so). The pool water is clean, but you will notice when you start to swim numerous pitted areas and assorted black spots underwater – probably in need of an acid wash and replaster. The pool is best enjoyed at night without the blazing sun making it impossible to walk barefoot on the deck or to sit in the metal-framed deck chairs. There are nice thick shade trees on one side of the«west» pool if you want to try to stay out of the sun, and there are also several umbrellas dotting the deck… but I couldn’t figure out how to get them open, and there are no instructions on how to do so either. Weird Instead of supplying bars of soap, you’ll find a «Waxie» branded commercial-type liquid foam soap dispenser over the sink and in the shower, just like the ones you find in gas station bathrooms. Weird. Aside from the soap being OK for washing your hands, I was a little unsure about using it on my face and other body parts. The orientation of the toilet bowl severely limits the legroom between it and the sink. If you’re a tall man or woman, you may have to stand and angle yourself over the bowl to have a bowel movement. Ran out of room; find the rest of my review on TripAdvisor.

It’s cool I guess, not too far from downtown area($ 8.00 taxi 5 min.) didn’t jump in the pool, if you want a place to sleep shower and handle your business then its cool, nothing fancy but you have what you need and for a fair price, I would stay again.

I was a bit unsure of what to expect from this place, but I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised. It’s a great location — just 1.5 miles from downtown Palm Springs w/gorgeous up-close view of the mountains. It must have been built in maybe the 50s, and still had a «retro» type feel, but also had the retro grassy lawns, low-profile, was very quiet, only 15 units(71-bedrooms, 8 studios), and 2 good-sized pools, one on «family» side and one on «adult side» w/jacuzzi, plus a grassy badminton or volleyball court. Staff was super friendly, and so were the other guests when we saw them. Even though it was fully occupied, we had the pool entirely to ourselves every time but once(when we shared it w/an older couple who loved our kids). The room — we were in a studio; would have preferred a 1-bedroom, but it was fairly spacious w/a king size bed, ok sofa bed, fully stocked kitchen(w/settings for 4), bathroom and dressing room, free wi-fi, and even little private back yard! The furnishings could use some updating(floral and gingham bedspreads, rattan furniture, well-worn silk flowers, etc.) but overall, it had a very pleasant, comfortable feel. No amenities to speak of, other than the pool and Jacuzzi and laundry room. The Villas smelled like honeysuckle and orange blossom, and we awoke each morning to the sound of birds singing — I felt like I was in a Disney movie. Right across the street is the Villa Royale Inn and Europa restaurant, and we walked over there a couple of times to admire their beautiful flower gardens, fountains, and menu. All in all, it was nothing fancy, but I’d definitely stay here again.
