In-Shape: Palmdale West

Well, after being deterred by the hideous logo for the longest time, lol, finally checked this place out (after coming over from another local gym). And I must say, after several months, I’ve been nothing but happy with this place! They have just about *everything*, for whatever your training needs may be. Whether you’re a «first-​timer» or a hard-​core triathlete (like myself). The machines/​equipment are well maintained & repairs made quickly (sorta the judging point for most gyms, imo). And the *amazing* hydro-​massage beds sealed the deal for me! My only major gripe would be to *please*, pretty please, CHANGE THE «70’s YELLOW» to a red or orange, please??? Thank you;-)

This is a pretty cool gym specially the trainer Ed Walotka I started with Ed about a month ago and holy cow I see results and my wife can’t keep her eyes off me .Ed goes beyond training he answers all my questions about the exercises that I am doing and takes time to tell me why we are doing these exercises and what muscle is working and like I said before I am seeing results I wore an outfit in April and it fit me tight I wore the same outfit this past Saturday and it fit all loose thanks Ed for such a wonderful job you are doing training me thank you sooooooooo much.

I agree with Justice regarding the harassment. I was being harassed also. I didn’t sleep last night because my dog had an ear infection and I just fell asleep and there was this phone call from a guy trying to sell the membership. And he texted me pictures of gym. Who does that? If I wanted to see, isn’t that what website is for? Unsolicited text with unnecessary pictures, cuts into my data plan is not welcome. And if you want me to join the gym, a pressure sales tactic is not the way to go, many people get turned off by it. I haven’t even been to the facility but already being discouraged for going there because I don’t want to waste my time for sales pitch. Stop harassing people, if the facility and service is great, then people will join. The desperate attempt will make people skeptical for joining because of sustainability. Stop doing that to your potential clients.
Tips for
sales call: Don’t call before 1100 am, many people will find disturbing to get sales calls in the morning.
21 questions: Don’t ask what’s my goals or when was last time I have been to gym, have I had a gym membership before? I am already thinking this guy is trying to pressure sales me a membership, this angle does not work.
Connotation: It’s not what he said, how he said, sounded desperate.
I haven’t been there yet, but already one star, if I get there and try out, I will update my review but seriously, change your sales tactics.

RUN AWAY. I really don’t like the way this place goes about things. They give a «free» 7 day pass and then you are harassed to buy a membership on the first day and told if you don’t buy a membership they will get in trouble by their manager, then once the membership is bought In-​Shape says there’s a «free» personal training session where you are harassed to buy a personal trainer! IN-​SHAPE? NO, INSANE!

I have been at in shape now for almost 2 months 3 – 4 days a week. The staff and management are very nice and welcoming, they make you feel comfortable right away. The gym it’s self is clean and the ladies locker room is huge, I always see staff members vacuuming or picking up what people have left behind. (Although most of us are adults and should be able to toss are own trash or throw in your towel) The staff is helpful when you need advice on how to properly do something or just answering a more simple question. I’m very pleased that I started my journey with them, I’m down 11 pounds and have 50 more to go and I know it’s only a matter of time before I reach my goals.

Staff is going south around here. The opening crew cannot seem to get here on time to open the gym, and not very friendly. All I can say about housekeeping is that my 5 year old grandchild can clean better. For the money I am paying I would expect better… you have lost a star InShape.

Just started In-​shape. Love how the place is clean ! I was help with trainer Jack Muns. He was very helpful and encouraging. The staff and trainers are all very friendly and helpful.

I’ve been coming here since they open 6 days a week at first I was coming at 5:00 then they started opening at 4:00… I love coming that early because I like to do what I have to do and shake the spot. I love this place but I just heard one of the ladies that was always nice to me got laid off and I’m soo bumbed about that her name us Gizzett (if I’m spelling right) they should have let go Catlyn go she had a smart mouth and is very condescending and is not a nice person. Like I said I’ve been her since day 1… All the ladies are nice except for that 1. I hope they hire my girl back…

Let’s see, I have been hitting In-​Shape regularly, about 4 – 5 days a week, since September 2015. Seven months so far, so good.
I love the group fitness classes, Instructors and the use of the pool, sauna and the VIP room. The staff is always happy to assist, and always friendly as you enter and exit the facility.
I had a mistake on my account, regarding the switch of a large locker to a small one. Once I finally brought the mistake to Manager, Susan’s attention, she was ON TOP of it immediately and has since corrected the problem with Corporate. Her expeditious attention was noted. She called me 3 times to follow up, and corrected the mistake in ONE DAY. Thank you Susan.

Never had a bad experience here until the front face of the gym which is suppose to be welcoming happy about life a motivation to the beginning of your work out ruins that !
Been in this gym for a while now and have never had this problem until we came across rolling eyes Cynthia such bad attitude I wanted to sign up my sister for a free pass to see if she would like to join but she was so rude made myself not want to be part of that gym. of course I’m not going to do that I’ll probably just go another day when she’s not there and try again.
If You are someone important in in shape be aware of this review people like Cynthia can be sending your customers home.

Anyway, I signed up for personal training over a year ago. My contract has since been up and I failed to write about how fantastical my trainers were. I’ve trained with a few different people for various reasons, mostly my work schedule. but they were all awesome so I had to put it out there. When I first started, I trained with Garrett, who I believe is no longer there and then I went on to work out with Alejandro who was fun and pleasant to work out with. He was like the coolest spanish speaking Ginger I’ve ever met… and then Lance at East Lancas and then most recently back to West Palmdilla with William, who was some kind of wonderful. If I would have just continued doing the things he taught me, I probably would be in better shape than I am now, but at my own faults, I fell off and have become a big jiggly blob. But during that time he definitely put me in the right path. I learned a lot of different things from him and am trying to get back on the path I left off with when I was training with him.

Leigh-​Anne is an awesome fitness trainer. She helps keep me motivated with her encouragement and challenging workouts. I have been training with her for a month and have already seen great results! She is professional, friendly, and always has a smile on her face!

My trainer Dorian really kicked my butt, but it was all good. He really motivated me to achieve my goals, thanks bro for everything

Dorian Smith helped me a lot and took the time for me to understand how I am able to reach my exercising goals. He doesn’t rush informations for you and actually makes sure you understand where you’re at currently and where you want to be in physique perspective.
Very understanding, and gives you positive motivation.

This is the NICEST, CLEANEST gym in Palmdale/​Lancaster. I’ve been a member of both 24 hour gyms in the AV, and this gym is simply the best! Huge pool and hot tub! Steam room And Sauna very pleasant! Equipments all new ! Love this place !!!

Great gym in the Antelope Valley area! Wish I had joined earlier.
I was a member at the 24 hour fitness for a few months when we first moved here (a holdover membership from Texas where we used to live). The gym on K was nice enough, but they didn’t have enough Group X classes during times I wanted. I joined Planet Fitness when they opened up, thinking it would be a nice cheap bare-​bones gym, but they quickly oversold it and it became much too crowded for my tastes. I am not a fitness buff, so the Monster seemed a bit intimidating, and I would like to go to a place where my husband could attend too, so the Ladies First wasn’t an option either.
Saw the In-​shape when it first opened, but it didn’t have classes back then, so I skipped on it for a while. After my unhappy experience with Planet Fitness, when I got another In Shape brochure in the mail, I decided to check it out. They had added a full lineup of group classes well into the evenings, which fit my schedule perfectly. I toured the gym and was VERY impressed, It was very clean and not very crowded (even though it was a Thursday night in January). Memberships were reasonable with my company discount and had no contracts, so that was very nice. There are some add ons for hydro massages and tanning, but I didn’t get any of that.
There is a cool little «ladies» pink corner of the gym that has a second set of lighter dumbbells and a few basic cardio/​weight machines, so its nice if you get easily intimidated in the normal free weight area. They seem to have all the latest in fitness trends — mostly things I have no idea how to use, LOL. The cardio area is very large and I haven’t had to wait for a machine yet. They even have 4 rowing machines if you like something a bit different. The pool/​spa area looks amazing — the pool has ~4 lanes for lap swimming and looks very clean. I might even incorporate some swimming into my cardio routines. The ladies locker room is big and clean — they have two changing rooms for those of us who are a bit shy about changing in front of others. They also offer towel service and free wifi to members. The main free weight area seems like it is a bit tight on space, but so far the crowds have been low enough that it hasn’t been an issue.
Today I had my 1 included orientation with a personal trainer, Jack. He was great — super friendly and very knowledgeable. I have a few issues I have to work around (bum shoulder and ankle) and he modified the session so that I wouldn’t aggravate those areas. He definitely put me through my paces, but was very willing to let me take a few breaks to catch my breath as I am very out of shape right now. I signed up for some training sessions to continue — they have several plans and were very reasonably priced. He went the extra mile to find me a plan that I could work with, so I was very pleased about that.
Overall I think its one of the best options in the AV — definitely check it out if you are looking for a gym!

I have lost 130 pounds and counting! It’s been a lot of hard work through diet and exercise… I attribute a lot of my success to the love and support I have continually received at inshape. Thank you so much Michael meiser, you have maintained an amazing staff…

I love the exercise classes. They are fun and a great way to get your workout in. I also like the fact that the front door people to greet you and say bye to you as well.
I give this gym 3 stars because they are a little dirty. I have seen 2 bugs in the upstairs workout pink room. I have never seen employees cleaning anything, for example the mirrors need cleaning. And the floor needs to be swept. And the machines blue ray you use to clean the machines needs to be washed. I have been at this gym for 2 months. But if they don’t clean up I will be leaving before the end of the year to another gym.

Holy crap this place is gorgeous! Finally went in to see the facility in its finished glory and I am so pleasantly surprised. Can’t wait wait to use the pool and sauna, the lady-​only workout room screams me (it is PINK!), and the locker room feels like a fancy hotel. Looking forward to getting back into a regular gym rat routine again.
