A total disappointment. Yes this location is now closed. Apparently it will reopen without a firm date of when.
It has been closed for months, leaving the expecting and current parents who shelled out $ 300+ for membership in a lurch… And they didn’t even notify members of the closure. You found out if you happened to call or stop in. Would an email to members or even a notice on the website have been so hard? Although the website now has a line or two about the closure, it never did before.
Considering the majority of membership services are for the benefit of expectant and new parents, you’d think those members without access to service during this busy, stressful, and fragile time would get a refund right? After all that’s what they paid for… Wrong!
The most annoying part? If you ask for a refund, they will tell you they can’t because «their lawyers said no refunds». Please. The owners should have decency not to hide behind «their lawyers». What they’re actually saying is «we’re not offering refunds because we want to keep your money and active membership status, and we’re willing to bet you won’t do anything about it.»
Pretty considerate way to treat new parents who just had a baby, have no free time, and need help, huh?
This isn’t the kind of treatment I’d recommend to anyone much less expecting a new parents. You can find similar services through your hospital or Blossom Birth. Otherwise, caveat emptor.

I heard from a friend that the Mommy and Baby groups were really great so I tried one. It was so much fun and the group leader, Cherie, was fantastic! She was a wealth of knowledge on all the subjects that new moms are interested in, she answers questions and she gets everyone involved in the conversations. I will definitely be a regular at these groups. I highly recommend them!

First came in here since I thought they sell the Bella Band. When asked about it, they said they didn’t carry it any more. I asked if they knew of any other places that sold it and they actually pointed me to across the street where Mom’s the Word Maternity is. I was scared that I was going to get attitude for asking where I can buy something they didn’t carry, but was surprised that there was no attitude.
I decided to look around to see what else they carried. This place is for all baby needing items like strollers, bibs, books, creams, etc. They have everything BUT clothes so you should come here to buy your necessary items, maybe take a class as well and then head over across the way to buy some maternity clothes!

I love DayOne! It’s a wonderful resource for expecting and/​or new parents! My husband and I took part in many classes offered and enjoyed them all! BABY SIGN WITH BILL WHITE OF TOUCH BLUE SKY IS A MUST FOR ANY NEW PARENT! Also we love Cherri (lactation consultant) and she helped us in many ways when I was breast feeding our son. Grace, the manager is really sweet and very knowledgeable. I am so happy we became members and I look forward to #2 someday! A few girls we loved from there (sadly they aren’t there anymore but wanted to give a shoutout anyways) JORI & SUSANNA. Also I just recently met Ariel from the SF store and she was super friendly and sweet and gave us some samples from the honest co. DayOne is awesome!!! Every parent should know about them!

Ubelieveable! Obviously, this store does not realize that their target market is Moms & Dads (many of which work full time and have limited opportunities for running errands, etc).
Came bumbling into the store last night, in search of liners for my Diaper Pail. I approached the shop, there was a woman working behind the counter, lights fully on, and doors unlocked.
Upon entering, I was met with dagger eyes and the query, «Are you here to buy something?» To which I cheerfully replied, «yes, I need Diaper Dekor liners». She quickly quipped back, «we’re closed — sorry»
I left the shop, and glanced at my iphone to check the time (as I wasn’t sure how late I was)… sure enough, it was 6:01pm. 1 minute past the closing time. Although, it is quite possible that it was 6pm when I arrived.
As a Mom who works full time, it is hard to dash from daycare, to the store, unload the stroller and pick up necessities — I try to use the smaller shops, to support local businesses, and hope that by doing so, that little courtesies will also be extended — such as making me feel welcome and acknowledging that life with a toddler does not always complement a typical schedule.
It would have cost this store nothing to extend a courtesy, make me feel welcome and essentially be the hero. In fact, this would have earned future business.
As an aside, I resorted to calling Buy Buy Baby (30 miles away) to arrange for a telephone order and shipment, and the woman proactively offered to have her manager drop the item at my home, as «I was on the way». Unexpected and truly appreciated.

Came here to apply for a job and was blown away by the size and depth of offerings they have for all things maternity. They have an incredible offering of classes and really cover everything one could possibly need to know and support their new baby experience. Very impressed by the staff and the overall experience of Day one

Wonderful sanctuary for new parents. I made so many new mommy friends here, learned so much from the classes, and have jumped into Mommyhood supported, confident, and happy.
The staff used to be great, now they’re good. I guess they’ve had quite a rotation, I miss the girls who used to work there. They used to be so incredibly nice.

Cherie is an excellent lactation consultant. I would highly recommend her. I was having trouble breastfeeding my second child and, when he was a week old, felt we had both gotten off on the wrong foot. My nipples were sore, cracked, and blistered and he was feeding nonstop.
I emailed Day One at 10 p.m. on a Sunday and got an immediate response. Cherie then called me first thing Monday morning and saw me that afternoon. I was impressed with this level of responsiveness.
Cherie is a wonderful, patient, sympathetic teacher who explains things and really works with you to understand how to make breastfeeding an enjoyable experience. Her primary concerns are getting your baby fed and ensuring your comfort. She also has realistic expectations for you as a breastfeeding mother and is there for you when you need her.

wow! they have great choice of the baby prducts. I like to come here as I can brestfeed my baby on a rocking chair in a private library they have. There are changing tables and free baby hygene products by them. My baby and me left the store happy. Recommend for shopping and lesure!

Wyatt came a bit early and we were in a scramble to get everything done. We stopped in to pick up a couple of things on our way home from the hospital! LOL! Funny thing is I am usually so OCD about stuff and I couldn’t believe how many little things we still needed. It’s great having a store right around the block. As for price I’ve found that they try to keep their price really competitive. I’ve found that pricing most things in the store are comparable to Babies R Us pricing.
The New Parents Group was a total savior for me. Wyatt and I made some great new friends! I loved having people to talk to that were going through the same thing. Wyatt loved staring at all the little girls. He’s such a ladies man!
I take a star away today, but it’s only because I am sitting here writing this after a not so stellar experience. I bought a gift for someone and usually the ladies at the front desk offer to gift package the item, which is put it in a nice bag and add some tissue paper. There was no one in the store, with 3 front desk folks working. They were by no means super busy. I’ve seen it busy in there, so I would know. When I asked to get the present gift wrapped, the lady at the front desk first corrected me and said they only gift bag and then handed me the bag and some tissue paper. Maybe this is their usual service and I’ve been getting above and beyond service, but it was a little disconcerting to me. I do have to say Grace is awesome! Every time I am in there she is super nice and helpful. I also find Cheri the lactation consultant and group leader to be an absolute GEM. I have had some of the stupidest questions come out of my mouth in the New Parent Group and never once has Cheri reacted negatively.

I have taken three classes at this place and I’d rate the classes 5 stars. The teachers have been excellent! I attended the newborn care, breastfeeding and introducing solids classes. The only reason I even set foot in this place is because of the classes and instructors.
So, why the two star rating? One reason — the front desk employees! They couldn’t be ruder if they tried. Each time that I have arrived for a class they acted as if I was bothering them when I inquired if I needed to check-​in and which classroom I should go to. At the last class I attended (Introducing Solids), the lady who checked me was so apathetic about checking me in for the class that she actually wrote the wrong name on my name tag. I considered correcting her but she really could have cared less so I didn’t bother.
Additionally, my husband and I paid for a one year membership when I was pregnant at the end of last year. Shortly after I paid for the membership, my sister-​in-​law went to the Day One location in Walnut Creek and also purchased me a membership as she was unaware that I had already joined. Interestingly enough, Day One wasn’t able to inform my sister-​in-​law that I was already a member when she went to purchase a membership for me. Apparently they don’t have a computer system to track this? Or, more likely, they couldn’t be bothered to cross-​reference and see if I was already registered. Once I received my «gift» membership from the sister-​in-​law, I called the Day One Palo Alto location and asked them to refund my sister-in-law’s money. They informed me that neither they nor the Walnut Creek location could process a refund. All they could do was give me a store credit. How convenient, huh?
Finally, I have no idea why anyone purchases things from this store. The prices are significantly higher for items that are easily available through Amazon and other online retailers. I recognize that Day One has to pay rent (versus an online store) but that doesn’t justify the significant merchandise mark-​up, especially considering the fact that they charge a decent amount of money for their classes and lactation consultants (plus the «membership» you can pay for).
This place has a great deal of potential. It just needs better management and friendly employees to staff the front of the shop. Additionally, they should consider adding some later stage baby classes. I realize that it’s called Day One, but the following days of new parenthood are just as challenging and classes on topics such as solid foods, sleep training for older babies, teething strategies etc would certainly be helpful.

Really glad I started going to the Mommy and Me 0−3month group! Cherie is a great group leader and very honest about things, which new Mom’s need, sugar coating gets you nowhere in my opinion.
They also have changing tables, scales, books and stuff you can buy. There prices are on par with Baby’s R Us not Amazon though, but I like going there for the classes.

5 star for their new parent drop in classes
Before I went back to work, I used to go to Day One three or four times a week with my baby daughter for their various classes. I especially liked the music classes and the fitness classes. Yoga with a baby is both fun and hilarious (and a tiny bit of a workout). For a real sweat inducing workout, go to Kim’s classes of mommy & baby fitness.
I really wish that I had attended the classes sooner (I started when my baby was about 3 months old…). It was awesome for meeting other new moms and just getting out of the house in general.
The only negative is that parking at Town and Country is tough. Day One is in the back by Trader Joe’s so it’s usually packed.

Terrible experience with customer service
We had a terrible customer service experience renting a scale from here. When we rented it for 2 weeks ($ 60 for 2 wks vs $ 80 for 1 month), they told us that as long as call before the due date we can extend it to a full month. When we called yesterday they said that actually we cannot do that — we can just add extra time. Had I known about this, I would have just rented it for the full month.
Called today to ask if there was a misunderstanding and the lady that we talked to told that we should have called well in advance (as in a 1 week before the due date), which we were not told at the time of rental — how am I supposed to know this???
The lady on the phone was also not friendly at all — nothing along the lines of apology if there is a misunderstanding, or anything along those lines. And this was a mistake on their part!
Very disappointed. As new parents, dealing with unclear policies and unfriendly staff is the last thing of our list of to dos.

Ahhh, why is Day One always out of what I need? This store has a lot of promise for having a wide variety of baby items, including high end stuff. But everytime I have been in to get something I need they are out of stock. This is a huge waste of time and with a new baby, this is huge deal. After several failed attempts to get emergency items here I won’t waste my time again. It is usually just easier and cheaper to pay for express shipping from Amazon. Also haven’t had very much luck with their staff. Last time I went in for a particular sized sheild, only to find out when I got home that I had been given the wrong item.
Haven’t tried their classes. They are a little expensive/​fancy for me, I did the hospital, PAMF and Blossom classes, but I am sure they are a great fit for some families. Wish I liked this store better.

Great hard to find high end items and lots of informational services available to moms.
I got nursing help and a pump that was ideal for me here and had a good retail experience. Its nice to have a little more personal attention at a retailer when you’re trying to get everything together before your new baby comes, I hate the staff handling of patrons at the mass retailers.
The only draw back here is that items are very over priced, but the customer service makes up for it.

I was very excited when a Trader Joe’s opened up in the area, and during my visit, I stumbled into this wonderful place!
The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was pleasant. They have everything a pregnant woman would need (and a lot of things that I never knew about) to prepare for motherhood with wonderful classes. I currently take the prenatal yoga, and the knowledge of the the instructor is amazing! I feel so comfortable sharing my experience with other pregnant women. I have signed up for the CPR, and am looking forward to attending musical class when our baby girl arrives!

This is a wonderful shop and resource for new and expecting parents.
Go to browse the books, check out the shop that includes a lot of items that are hard to find, or sink into one of their rockers if you need to feed your kiddo. Seriously, it is the cleanest, comfiest, least creepy place you can find to feed in «public» (it has a bit of a semi-​private feel).
Although I’ve heard very good things about the workshops and classes here, but haven’t personally had the time to attend any.
Downside. Some of the prices are a bit outrageous, and the quantity of their stock is limited. They are often out of things if you’re looking for a specific item/​brand, especially the popular items.
A must-​see for new parents and parents-​to-​be. Stop by if you’re headed over to PAMF or Lucile Packard!

All I can say is I wish I would’ve known about this place a long time ago. I just recently had our second daughter, literally just had her and I was in need of some tubing for my breast pump. Searched high and low and I wish I would’ve known about this place when my first daughter was born.
They have TONS of goodies, from all the hard to find stroller accessories, nursing accessories, clothing, and on top of all that they also have lactation consultants.
If you’re an owner of a Medela Pump, then search no further for all the parts and accessories because this place is a one stop shop. As far as prices go; well some things are a bit high and some things are a bit reasonable.
The best is knowing that there is some place in the south bay/​peninsula that you can go for; for all those motherly needs.
They also have a baby registry, so for those who women who are currently pregnant and searching for an awesome place to get some really great goodies, this is the place to be.

I can imagine becoming a fan of this store — they have a lot of useful baby things that you just cannot find at a Babies R Us or Target, the staff is reasonably helpful AND they have a library/​weighing scale for those of us who fret about whether our newborn is gaining enough weight. They also offer classes which, from what we have heard, are actually well-​organized and sufficiently detailed. Plus, as members of PAMF, the location right next to the PAMF medical building and right in Town & Country is super convenient.
The prices though are definitely on the high side so unless I really cannot find what I need elsewhere, I will only come to this place with my wife for the sole reason of seeing what is possible.
