What, I haven’t yet written a review?!? This boutique is delightful. From the moment I walked in the door, I was treated like a VIP. Size 12⁄14? No problem! What size shoes do you wear? These boots are on sale! Are you going somewhere special? Try this, and this, and this! Ooh, that looks good with what you’re wearing now! I love everything I bought. I would shop here all the time if I lived in the Bay Area.

Worth checking out, but I don’t know if I’ll go back. Nice small shop scene, and with a great owner, and as with many such places, she’s a bit zealous in the sales pitch and gushing about how great you look in something(same for Serrahna in Oakland – my other Unilocal review). I’m often tired when I’m shopping because I need clothes for work(BTW, don’t expect to find anything basic in downtown Palo Alto). So I ended up buying a $ 88 t-shirt(and that was marked down from $ 144) that came to $ 95 with tax. I do believe that well made clothes should cost something, but this was a nothing special shirt. I’ve worn it once.

I had purchased jewelry from J Foss before and decided to stop in with a co-worker the other day to browse. We both found some lovely items(on sale and regular price) with the help of the very friendly and knowledgeable sales staff. There is something in this store for every shape and style. They have a unique jewelry selection along with shoes and belts. Pricey, but worth it if you like original wardrobe options.

Loved this place. I hate clothes shopping and usually have very tough time choosing things and like them enough to actually buy them. This place was the opposite. As I walked in, I fell in love with a couple of clothes which I bought and ended up buying 4 other pieces as we walked over the store. It is expensive but everything I bought, I wore it within the first 2 weeks. A lot of my other stuff is in shopping bags months later.

I love this store. Mostly because the manager and sales staff are genuinely sweet and caring people. I loved my experience shopping and it stands out as one of my best shopping experiences ever. if every interaction with people was as great as going to this store, we would all be very happy. It doesn’t hurt that they have little jewels all over this store but, you have to look closely. :)

When in Paly I always shop here. On first glance often I find the clothes a bit ho-hum, but I go over the racks several times and generally find a treasure. If you let the nice owner and her helpers pull pieces you might find a gem that you overlooked. They are very nice here — very unlike snooty Phyllis which is nearby.

First off, I don’t shop. I hate styles and trends, and I don’t like hunting and gathering through cheap crappy clothing. Second, I have a particular style in my head. It’s a particular«platonic ideal» of what clothing should be like. Most stores don’t fit this idea. However, I was casually walking through downtown Palo Alto and a display of unique clothing jumped out at me. This was J Foss, a wonderful store full of high quality, beautiful clothing with glorious style. Most importantly, the lady at the shop was extremely pleasant and helpful. She did what great small shop owners should do – look you over, get excited that you’re in their store, compliment your style and start bring you the new and interesting things that they«just got in». Her suggestions led me to purchase more than I would have without her help. The whole experience was very smooth and pleasant, and I will be going back there when I’m next in town.

Lady who owns it is fantastic! I love the styles she has. It’s so worth it to stop in, if you’ve got the cash/credit. Be careful about quality. Not all pieces should be this delicate. I’m not hard on my clothes. A bit pricey & had two dresses I got there fall apart. I had them fixed at Jacquie’s Sew & Sew & all is very good.

Passed the window one night and saw a beautiful dress but couldn’t see the bottom half very well. Returned and was surprised to find the bottom half was very sophisticated, carried in beautiful colors, and well-made in the US. All that for $ 98. They also had some beautiful French clothing that was more expensive but stylish design that will last through one season or trend. I highly recommend it.

Small boutique that’s big on style. Really cute clothes and cool artsy jewelry. Only downside is the(single) dressing room that is not well lit and has awkwardly placed mirrors. But if you don’t mind spending a lot of money on clothes, this is a great place to shop, plus it is actually on Ramona(not sure why the address is listed as University) home to several other fun boutiques and restaurants, so you’ll have lots of alternatives for opening your wallet.
