Daniel and Anny did an excellent job selling our home in the Bay Area. What made selling our home challenging was that our home needed quite a few upgrades, before it could be brought to the market. We were looking for a listing agent who could quickly get the right contractors and get the projects going. Furthermore, since we were relocating to a remote city, we needed a listing agent to help monitor the contractors.
We interviewed a few realtors and discount brokers and decided to go with Daniel primarily because of his 30 years of experience in real estate and down-​to-​earth working attitude. We are glad that we made the right choice. Dan paid attention to details and patiently answered our questions. We highly appreciate Dan’s dedication and professionalism as well as Anny’s valuable input during the process. A job well done!

As a professional photographer creating a virtual tour for one of their listings, I was impressed at the extent to which Dan & Anny cared about the quality of the presentation for their clients and took pains to make it nothing less than top-​notch.
A mishap resulted in the need for a reshoot. Rather than take the easy way out and jump at the first opportunity to complete the shoot, they returned repeatedly, until circumstances were «just right,» to achieve the best possible results.
Their clients were probably not aware of all the additional work they put in «behind the scenes,» to get everything just right. As their virtual tour partner, however, it was clear to me that their insistence on a quality outcome, regardless of how much extra time and effort they had to put in, was an important factor in the superb presentation that was achieved.

Daniel was the seller agent of one of the homes I bought. Thats right, he was a seller (and not a buyer) agent !. I met him late night while he was trying to get me, the new owner, the keys to the new home. He came inside the home, answered all my questions relating to the work done on the home, gas heaters, air conditioner etc etc. Even after that day, he continued to respond to my questions, relating to garbage collection, gardereners. He has been very very helpful. He offered to answer my questions even after a few months of purchase !!

I initially contacted Daniel in January of 2013 hoping that we could put our house on the market then. It turned out we weren’t ready to move at that time. I didn’t hear from Daniel once in that entire year (he respected our request not to be disturbed) until I reached out to him in early March of this year.
Between that time, we had «interviewed» several agents all from big firms and some called and checked in continuously (a real turnoff) and one was totally arrogant (who when he found out we listed our home with Daniel and not him, sent me a nasty email). In our neighborhood, the houses were selling quickly and over the asking price, so agents were constantly (and this is no exaggeration) leaving their cards and flyers at our door. One of our new neighbors was a real estate agent and as soon as the for sale sign went into the yard, she was asking all types of questions and walked through our home without the courtesy of letting Dan know.
When we finally were ready to sell our home, Dan showed up on time with his wife, Anny and listened to our requests (which included no open house and a few other things). We shared with Dan and Anny our last experience of selling our home, which was very painful.
Anny took beautiful photos, which was placed on our home’s website in a slideshow and the presentation was of a quality that I didn’t see the other top real estate firms producing.
When Dan placed the lisiting on the MLS, we received immediate feedback of all the potential buyers, their concerns, etc. In addition, he and Anny kept an eye on the place for us, which included moving our cans back from the curb and other things (since we were living 40 miles away). Dan is not a volume discount broker/​agent; he only takes those listings where he can provide the best service and that is what we had from the time we signed the listing agreement.
Dan answered all the questions that I had and believe me, I had a lot of concerns. Basically, I was a Nervous-​Nelly. And Dan was a voice of reason through the entire process.
I would highly recommend Dan and Anny for their calm and thorough service. Dan negotiated on our behalf with demanding buyers (who continually asked for more through the entire process). We were pleased with the outcome.
And just on principle, providing real estate agents with a full commission does nothing for your bottom line, only for the agents/​brokers profit.
In conclusion, Dan and Anny are a breath of fresh air, which the real estate industry sorely needs.

Amazingly, Dan got our house sold the day after listing it. Not only that but it sold over the listing price, when I was prepared to sell for less, knowing about the market in our area. He saved the deal from falling apart when the first appraisal did not work out and the buyers’ loan agent goofed up. He did more than always keep his promises. He did many extra things for us, too, like finding a buyer for our baby grand piano! And did I mention that we also saved a ton of money on the real estate commissions? Honestly, passing up the chance to list a home with Dan would be a huge mistake, even if he was not a discount broker. The fact that he is a full service discount realtor only makes it that much better. In my opinion, his professional marketing skills are a big advantage, too. We’ve never seen anywhere near the same quality of presentation from any other realtor.

We came across Daniel Berman and Pacific Century Realty by just googling «discount broker». While we had several agents in mind to handle the sale of our home, we found it hard to come to grips with having to pay 5−6% to sell it. We called Daniel to set up a time to meet and «interview» him.
Mr. Berman and his wife Anny came to our home promptly, and answered all our questions and concerns. Mind you, Daniel is a broker, not an agent and has the ability to set his rate. His rate to sell our home was 1 ½ %, a far cry from the standard 2 ½ % to 3% that other Realtors charge. I must admit that I was skeptical at first but after reading his reviews and testimonials, we decided to give him the listing.
Daniel immediately started the process by taking pictures and marketing our home on the internet with a nice slide show. Our house sold in a week! We never made it to multiple listing, nor did we have to have an open house.
Daniel also has kept us informed every step of the way. He is very knowledgeable and handled every detail and was present for all meetings from home inspection to the end. Not only did we get a great price for our home, he also saved us many thousands of dollars with the way he handled the offer and costs, netting us more cash in our pockets than expected.

We found Pacific Century Realty through an Internet search and were impressed by the marketing materials used to promote their listings, as well as the signed testimonials. We decided to list with Pacific Century with the expectation that a discount broker would provide less than full service. However, we continually found ourselves asking, ‘In what way is this discount?’ Our house was aggressively marketed using top quality photos and well-​written content. Dan was available at all hours to answer our questions, responding quickly and professionally to all inquiries about our property. He continually surpassed our expectations, even to the point of happily holding an unscheduled open house with less than three hours’ notice after we changed our minds. We received multiple offers after being on the market two weeks. Dan patiently guided us through each one, pointing out both benefits and potential pitfalls. His keen negotiation skills were evident after we accepted an offer for over asking price, getting us a one-​month lease back for free. We whole-​heartedly recommend Pacific Century to anyone who wants a great full-​service broker. I also want to add that we sold our house in 2010 when the market was a lot tougher than it is now.

When I needed to sell my house (my mother’s house of many years, actually), I grit my teeth and braced myself for battle with Palo Alto Realtors.
I interviewed several of them, including a couple of so-​called top agents. They all showed up in their luxury cars, wearing fancy clothes, very slick and acting really self-​important. Each one came with a flashy laptop slideshow and huge presentation binder that looked as if it called for cutting down a small forest. They all said pretty much the same things, about my house and about themselves. They talked about how they’re so great but when I asked them to tell me how specifically they differ from everyone else, they didn’t have very good answers. They were also pretty much the same in terms of the commissions they charge and when I touched on the subject, they got very defensive. (I thought commissions were negotiable but they don’t seem to think so.)
Talking to a friend of mine who is very particular, I got a referral to Dan at Pacific Century Realty and arranged for him to stop by the house to talk. His clothes are not fancy, he doesn’t drive a fancy car and he’s only carrying a simple clipboard with a few sheets of paper. He asks questions and he listens more than he talks.
I discover that Dan’s company really IS unique. I can list my home with him for just 1% and still get full service! And if Dan attracts a buyer directly during the pre MLS period, he also discounts the commission on the buyer’s end. The great thing for me was that it actually happened. So I saved like 4% on the real estate commissions (that’s about 50k right there) PLUS the price I got for my house was higher by six figures then the other non discount Realtors told me I could get PLUS the buyers were all cash PLUS it took only two weeks to close the escrow. From start to finish, from the time I first met with Dan to the time I got my money (wire transfer) from the escrow company, the total time was less than a month.
During the first week, there were some pretty tough customers (buyers) who were testing the waters and floating offers (trial balloons). What I noticed about Dan was that he may not SEEM like a tough negotiator but he really got the job done. He basically killed everyone with kindness, which I personally thought was pretty cool. Once I asked him if being more hard-​nosed wouldn’t be better for getting what you want in negotiations? He explained to me that emotions run high in real estate and the end result is usually better by keeping things amicable. You don’t have to ACT tough to BE tough. At first I was skeptical but in the end Dan proved to me that he was right.
