YOLO Event: Yappy Hour 2013

I can’t believe I forgot to Unilocal this event!
Anyways, when I heard Unilocal was going to have an event for our lovable dog friends I just knew I had to RSVP, what better way to let your canine friends know how much you love them than by bringing them along.
The hotel venue (Garden Court Hotel) was amazing with beautiful flowers, a water fountain, and a great staff to go along with the crowd. Nice touch having the event in the court yard, our doggie friends sure likes it! The only thing I wish could have been different was the size since it was hard at times to move around especially with our doggie friends below.
Plenty of food and drinks for humans and canine friends alike. We humans had pizza from Patxi’s, wine from Mutt Lynch, and a bunch of other finger licking good food all around! As for our canine friends, it was doggie heaven… from doggie treats, ice cream, cupcakes from Sprinkles and much much more! Rover even gave us some doggie bags filled with cool trinkets!
Did I mention the cool dog kissing contest?! Wish Zeus had better breath that night, we could have totally won :-). OH and don’t let me forget, cool painting done by Artist Artie! Artie was there letting us know about his awesome dog painting contest,
**UPDATE** I entered Zeus in the dog painting contest and gues what!!! We just received an email and WON!!! Hopefully the painting but I’ll let ya’ll know :-)
Overall, we had a great time mingling with our canine friends and Unilocalers alike! Thank you everyone who was involved in putting this great event together! Can I get a WOOF WOOF!

DOGGONE GOOD TIMES!
What a fun, cozy, and absolutely adorable event! The food spread was incredible and so beautifully presented. And not just for people! There was many a time where I reached for a dog biscuit on «accident» (and yes… I confess I did try a few, they just looked so yummy!)
Oh but of course the little (and not so little) stars of the show were all the fantastic furry friends that made an appearance as well! So many dogs of all shapes and sizes poking their little noses here and there and generally reveling in the great company, much like their human companions. And for me, a dog lover with no doggie of my own, this was absolutely heavenly! Fabulous food and furry faces galore!
Loved the venue as well, Garden Court has a beautiful courtyard, just the right size for an intimate gathering. The staff were so beautifully courteous and friendly, and all the sponsors were enthusiastic and welcoming.
One of the best Unilocal events I’ve been too! Thanks to Abby, the wonderful sponsors and the rest of the South Bay community! Woof woof!

What a beautiful venue with so many diverse vendors. We had salad and crudités, pizza, divine hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, lemonade, doggy ice cream, doggy cupcakes, doggy cookies, doggy goodie bags, but most importantly extremely cute and wonderfully sweet doggies!!!
I was a little surprised at how small the court was, but also impressed at how the team made it feel very cozy and intimate. It was fun and challenging to walk around with my 60 pound lab and my gf (Kim D.) with her 60 pound malamute, but we managed with the help of our friends Caroline T. and Patrick D. Unfortunately, their dog, Butters was asked to leave because she was making other owners feel uncomfortable. Very sad for Butters, but it’s like any other human Unilocal event, right? If you’re too drunk/​ratchet, you get kicked out! (jk, Butters, I know you weren’t drunk. *love*)
I didn’t get to try a lot of the food or any of the drinks because I had to focus my attention on Cooper. It was hard for him to resist all the yummy treats… I’m pretty sure he had at least ten cookies that night…
Mostly, I enjoyed meeting other Unilocalers and giving their dogs a full belly rubdown :)

Had a great time eating and seeing all the dogs that owners brought, went out later after the event for a night out on the town in Palo Alto since we were so close to everything.

Come one come all, whether you have 4 legs or only 2 legs! Do we have a special event for everyone! Big dogs, small dogs, furry dogs and not so furry dogs!
This event was very fun for everyone in attendance.
The food around the outside of the courtyard was very tasty as too was the food in the middle of the courtyard on tables. I know all the pups in the house enjoyed all of the food as well, whether it was food for us humans or treats for the dogs.
Even my date Sadie enjoyed the treats as she would look at it with a puzzled look and hide while she secretly and silently devoured the delectable food items. She may not have been the most social pup there but she had her fair share of fun moments.
I believe her favorite moment was the dog whisperer as Sadie was able to be a little open, yet scared to this idea but the dog whisperer was able to calm little Sadie down and help her get through this event with no harm done!
This event was fun and different with all of the dogs there, good job Abby S. for another good event and another fun time for all of us Unilocalers!

What a fun concept, a party for the pups! I brought my favorite pup, Sadie to the Yappy Hour event and while she was super shy, I think she enjoyed herself as much as me! We arrived a little early so we took Sadie for a walk around downtown Palo Alto. I have not spent much time in the area but it sure is beautiful! Once we got to the event, I was even more blown away by the Garden Court Hotel. I would love a chance to stay here someday, and if you like to travel for with your animals, you are in luck as they hotel welcomes pets.
The event had a wide variety of tasty treats for both humans and canines. I tried Patxi’s spinach and cheese pizza, which was very tasty. I was glad I finally got to try it out after seeing all of the Unilocal hype. Hobee’s had a great apple and walnut salad that was also very yummy! I loved the dressing and the different textures. There was also a ton of veggies out. The pups had no lack of treats, there were cupcakes, and cookies everywhere! The courtyard was the perfect location for this event, the pups were comfortable and it was cozy for us humans to socialize. Sadie got to meet a dog whisperer which was very special! I now know why we have such a special bond! As we left, Sadie got to take home a cool doggy bag with some treats to share with her sister, Sasha. Thanks Abby S. for throwing yet another fab event, and thank you to Garden Court Hotel for the excellent service and wonderful venue.

This Unilocal event was amazing with all of the pooches running around making everyone smile! Who doesn’t like someone else’s canine! For the most part they were all behaved except for a few minor bathroom accidents, but the owners were very responsible.
The Garden Court Hotel was amazing and as dapper as they come, especially the court yard where the event was held. The spread of food and drinks was amazing, especially the layout around the center focal point, the fountain. It was a bit crowded, but that just made everyone more incline to socialize. I’m so glad the pups got to enjoy some food and desserts as well, which appeared so tasty I almost indulged in the dog bones and ice cream.
The food was amazing, with the mini burger sliders and the Ola Mola Confectionary cookies being my favorite! I couldn’t resist to several helpings. The Patxi’s pizza is always a great addition to any Unilocal event, and of course I had a slice, well more like two. The Mutt Lynch Winery was a perfect match for the event, with their red and white wine being bottomless and perfect.
Meeting everyone’s pups was awesome, like meeting their families. I had a great time with Zeus, Paco and Gigi, to name a few. Of course there were many other beautiful canines around. We thought about dressing up our kitties as dogs and sneaking them in, but I think this may have been a disaster!
We invited a wonderful couple (Natasha S. and Erkan C.) from San Francisco as our plus ones, and this happened to be their first Unilocal event. Thanks to the grand event, we had a memorable time and showed them how the South Bay Elites party. I also had a chance to mingle with friends and few new Unilocalers, you know who you are.
Can’t thank Abby enough for yet another amazing bash! Special thanks to the Humane Society for giving animals another chance, as well as the owners that adopted from them. I hope our donations make a difference. And finally a round of applause to the vendors that were part of this event and made that extra special.

There were a lot of cute dogs at this event, both big and small ones. After making a donation to the humane society, my bff and I got to see a few cute dogs and sample some goodies from:
Paxti’s pizza
Hobee’s salad, fresh veggies, cheese, and pasta bites
And from the Garden Court Hotel, cold and delicious lemonade and iced tea as well as small sliders, coconut shrimp with dipping sauce, and a few other appetizers.
For the dogs, there was a dog painter there, a dog psychic, doggie bags full of treats from
that included some dog biscuits, a generous $ 25.00 gift certificate to their store, some sun glasses, a doggie bag holder, plastic poop bags, and a sticker inside. My bff loved this event especially since she has a really cute cream and tan dog named Boomer who she rescued from the street somewhere a year ago. She wasn’t able to bring him to this event since she came with me as a last minute plus one replacement-:(Oh well, at least she got some treats for Boomer!
There was also a doggy kissing contest. The person who got the best doggie kiss from their dog won a gift certificate from one of the dog vendors there. Most of the dogs there seemed excited to be at the event. Most of them couldn’t sit still for long. I fed one cute dog named Hyper that I tried to take a picture of but couldn’t. So I tried feeding her one of the biscuits on the table and she was so eager for a treat, she nipped me, but I didn’t get hurt, lol. She couldn’t sit still despite her owners best efforts to get her to stay still, so I couldn’t get a pic of her.
The Garden Court Hotel is very nice and classy. It’s also a pet friendly hotel. Before my plus one and I left, we heard a sad announcement about how black dogs & cats are the last ones to be adopted most of the time. Because of this, they’re usually the first ones to be put down-:(So if you or any friends or family members are looking to adopt a cat or a dog sometime, please keep this in mind and pass along this information.
Basically all the dogs and the humans there seemed to enjoy the event. Thanks to Abby, the Humane Society, and the staff at the Garden Court Hotel for putting together this wonderful event!

A smaller Unilocal event. I liked the Anchor drinks and the lemonade/​iced tea drinks going around. There wasn’t much human food other than Patxi’s and some random cheese bowl. More of a dog event. Too bad I don’t have a dog because there were plenty of dog treats! But there weren’t that many dogs either. I also wish the venue was a little bigger since there were pets, because people were tripping over some of the dogs.
However, Garden Court Hotel seemed pretty high end. I usually judge by the bathroom, and their bathroom supplied mouthwash! Which was pretty awesome. The workers there seemed very friendly and we helpful in guiding me to the event.

Five paws up! Even Kitty and Flora enjoyed my howling of a yappy night report.
Sweet pups showed up and enjoyed the social event while mom and dad noshed on some awesome food.
I saw Patxis, Olamola Confectionary, Green Lid, Mutt Lynch and Hobees Salad. There was enough for everyone and more.
Finally met Daniel N’s cute Zeus and cuddled with sweeeet Paco almost all night! Thx Paco and dad’s mom! Cindy C.‘s baby sure knows how kiss mom with love:)

Met a few new Unilocalers and definitely made sure our new Unilocaler buddies Erkan C and Natasha S had fun! Their first Unilocal event ever! Yay!

Unilocalers turned up to support the SVHS! Awesome event Abby! Classy choice of venue! Garden Court Hotel thanks a million for opening your doors to us one more time!

yap, yap, yap yappy hour! dogs represent!
this was a wonderful event for us bipeds and our four-​legged furry friends. granted, i do not own a dog, but it was nice to mingle and «petwork» with those belonging to my fellow Unilocalers.
the humane society of silicon valley was at the welcome table with knowledgeable staff sharing stories about their beloved pups, kittens, and bunnies. they had a binder with photos of what our donations would go toward… doggie apartments, kittie condos, outdoor runs and more. this was definitely a worthy cause and i want to check it out the next time i’m in milpitas.
once inside the beautiful garden, there was a myriad of refreshments and nibbles to choose from:
+iced tea: COLD and REFRESHING, the perfect summer treat! i appreciated that it was not too sweet. they also offered lemonade and arnold palmer, but i did not get to try.
+greenlid smoothies: i had the pleasure of chatting with the lovely young lady who was mixing up her fresh, green drinks and apparently she delivers all over the bay area! OMG, these drinks were so FRESH and TASTY even though she did not add any sugar or other sweeteners! i could smell and taste every ingredient she added to this drink… fresh, apples, ginger, avocado, spinach, YUM! i want to try this at home now!
+hobee’s: they served up a nice vegetarian salad chock full of fresh veggies and fruits. i LOVED this mix of greens, walnuts, pears, dried fruit, and light dressing. DELICIOUS and a perfect summer appetizer!
+patxi’s pizza: 5 different slices to choose from… the hardest part was restraining myself from eating them all! i chose the gluten-​free vegetarian slice with green peppers, onions, and olives on a thin crust. i could not tell that this was gluten-​free since it was so YUMMY and tasted like a normal slice of pizza! i also had a slice of their mushroom and spinach on signature deep dish crust (chicago style), which was equally DELICIOUS with ooey gooey cheese inside and perfectly baked crust outside. i loved that it wasn’t too hard, and i could actually chew the crust without cutting it with a knife!
+olamola confectionery: they offered 3 different miniature sized meringues to choose from, all equally mouthwatering. i tried the coconut which had a very nice crunch, with a slightly sweet coconut flavor, dipped in dark chocolate. i also had the hazelnut orange which had a beautiful fragrance to it, and an equally delicious crunch. these bite-​size treats were DELECTABLE without expanding the waistline!
+brie and fig bites: these were passed around by the staff and had the perfect blend of sweet (fig) and savory (brie) ingredients on a toasted crostini.
+baked potato: i think that’s what these were… miniature bites of potato with some seasonings, also passed around by the staff. another perfect appetizer for this event.
there were many other treats available for those with pups, sprinkles pup-​cakes, dog bones, and doggie goodie bags, just to name a few.
thank you to garden court hotel for hosting this event in your beautiful outdoor courtyard. perfect venue for a summer evening cocktail party.

Unilocal parties are always fun to begin with, but a Unilocal party where you can bring your dog makes it even more fun!
Bean was the lucky pup from our family that got to go. Pepe was on the list as well, but he is invited to another party for HSSV in a few weekends. Bean had a lot of fun, but it took a while for this princess to warm up to the other canines. There were so many cute ones!
The Garden Court Hotel was a lovely venue and it is awesome that they are so dog friendly. All of the servers and even the valet people were super nice and welcoming.
I tried a delicious piece of cheesy pizza from Patxis which I think was my fave food of the evening. I was sort of obsessed with the lemonade that was being brought around. I only got 1 glass, but that is such a major craving of mine right now. I almost hunted down the server to get another. There were some beer and wine pourings that my husband enjoyed. I really wanted to talk to the dog communicator, but did not get the chance. I was able to grab a Sprinkles doggy cupcake that Bean inhaled.
An awesome event overall. I try to take any opportunity that I have to donate and support HSSV. We have adopted 2 dogs and 1 cat from there and they are a great organization who deserves everyone’s support!

Lovely little event for dogs and their hoomans! Vendors included delicious OlaMola merengue cookies, green smoothies, dog paintings/​portraits,
dog sitting website, and reike energy specialists. Very interesting talking to the them about their services and businesses! Definitely some products I’d like to try after being introduced here.
The food, drinks, and puppies made a great environment to chat and socialize in! Met quite a few other friendly Unilocalers and had a blast at my first Unilocal event! Only wish I could’ve brought my pups too, but this venue only allowed for so many people and animals, understandably so.
Looking forward to the next South Bay Unilocal event! Great job, Abby S, and thanks for organizing these wonderful shindigs!

Let me start off by saying it’s not easy being a dog, I mean we have to lick our @ss and sleep a good 18 – 20 hours a day, then when our owner’s come home from work we have to pretend like we’re excited when in actuality we just want our food… but anyways let me get back to this review.
As soon as I got to this event I could smell all the food but didn’t know if I was going to be able to partake in all the yummy-​ness as the other night I went to go pickup pizza with my old man and didn’t get JACK!?!
Well my hopes were high as I walked in and there’s tons of food for dogs everywhere but wait what are all these other dogs doing here. I didn’t know if I should go lick their @sses or go for the food. I did a little bit of both, EAT, LICK, EAT, LICK.
My favorite foods of the night were the Doggie Cupcakes and Peanut Butter Ice Cream, o dog garn it was amazing, my owners never feed me this well. I had my fortune told by the Dog Whisper and was even was given a Doggie Bag with treats to take home by
. All in all a great night, well I’m tired and need to go get my 18-​hour beauty sleep… later you weird Unilocal People passing the review back over to the SB Slumdog!?!

Riley pup & I had a BLAST! I didn’t know the hotel was dog friendly until tonight. We’ll definitely check this place out for a future staycation. All the vendors were awesome & the pups were super friendly. Thanks, Unilocal for coordinating such a fun event! :)

We had an absolute blast tonight with the pup tonight! Great food and drinks (for both the humans AND the pups). They had so many treats available for our dog and she enjoyed every one of them. The Sprinkles dog cupcakes were super cute!
Also loved participating in the dog kissing contest — we got second place! Woo hoo!
Thanks to Abby for setting everything up and to all of the vendors who donated their time and food! The event was fantastic. :)

Garden Court Hotel was totally the perfect venue for this event. I know for sure that this is one upscale hotel but didn’t know that this place is sups dog friendly. Their patio where they accommodated us Unilocalers and the doggies was lovely, with just enough space for the amount of people who showed up to support the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.

This event started at 6:30 which made it the perfect time for parking in downtown Palo Alto! Many of us impatient dog owners arrived early and waited out front as we waited for yappy hour to begin. (:
My pup Ollie dragged me into the center of the event and found himself a water bowl. Finally being able to look up at my surroundings I found myself in a courtyard with artistic dog portraits, paxti’s always delicious pizza, wine, maple beer, and doggie treats.
Waiters brought around a variety of food as well, I was only able to try a slider since it was difficult to even keep my wine in my glass with my pup dragging me everywhere. He seemed to really enjoy the dog treats and cupcakes though. The little guy finished the cupcake in one bite, and definitely didn’t wanna share.
The event definitely felt like it flew by, and there were so many beautiful dogs that Ollie got to meet and greet. All the dogs were so well behaved and the event was definitely one of my favorites. Towards the end of the night, there was a kissing contest where I got to show the crowd just how much my pup didn’t wanna kiss me haha but he was able to take home a prize anyways so that was nice (:
Afterwards all the pups got to unwind with some delicious dog yogurt! It’s a good idea to keep it in your hands if there’s multiple dogs on the floor because they’ll definitely fight over it! I saw it first hand, hah
The doggie bags from rover were really nice to come home to, it came with sunglasses, a $ 25 gift card towards
, poopy bags (super convenient since it was in need of some), heart doggie treats, and a bumper sticker!
Thanks for planning such an awesome Yappy Hour Abby! As well as all those who made this event all the more enjoyable. Its definitely one to remember (:
