Helping Hands For the Blind Pick Up Center

I’ve been dealing with this organization for many years, and I have always found them to be quite lovely to deal with, I was surprised to see negative ratings and sorry that some people had a bad experience. Honestly, Helping Hands for the Blind is the best! They always call to remind me the night before a pick-​up, which is very helpful, and the work they do is so appreciated. I get inundated with calls from so many charit
able organizations, but I“m always glad to hear from HHFTB and am happy to help out!

I have never experienced such lack of enthusiasm. They do not care about the people trying to help or the people they are helping! If your going to donate do not donate to them.
I have seen the people picking stuff out to keep for themselves!
Also and i think this is the worst part you call to try to set up a pick-​up the people sound like they are so bored but don’t want to help you! The DMV is a pleasure compared to these people.
This has happened multiple times, i try to donate to a few organizations a bit every year. I called them scheduled an appointment. They did not come, I called back in and I am speaking to their operator telling her that no one came by and to see if she could double check if i am on the list. She immediately states that the list is with the driver and she would need to call him to get in touch, she said this like it would be the biggest burdens in the world, i proceeded to ask if she would call, and i quote «I can try but there is a chance that they wont pick up and i just wasted my time,» how much time could she really waste!!! i told her to call and leave a message or send a text. She said she didn’t know how. In turn this is the 3^rd time they have not picked up from my house and when i called in to reschedule the lady on the phone said that they wont be in west hills for a while so i should find out the next time they are in west hills and call. REALLY??? i need to find out when they are going to be in the area and call!
Anyways sorry for this long review they just really got to me.

Diane — and Helping Hands are terrific. As someone who works in the private sector, I am so grateful for people and organizations who help those less fortunate than me. Diane has been unfailingly kind and polite over the years, and I’m delighted to have a chance by way of this forum to express my thanks.

This company is a joke. We set an appointment a week and half ago, because they couldn’t come any earlier. The guy shows up by himself, he said he was just supposed to look at it. Supposedly they can’t even touch the furniture. So the stuff just goes magically in the truck? That guy was just to tired and lazy to even try. Don’t rely on these people!!! DISGUSTED!!!

Have been donating used items to them for at least 6 years.
They call to ask if you if you have items to pick up. Then if yes, they call the night before to remind to to put the bag out by your front door.
The driver then picks up the bag and leaves a receipt and a new donation bag.
They are very professional and organized. Help me keep clutter to a minimum and hopefully go to a good cause. Much better than wasting my time doing a garage sale

This is the easiet way to donate your «unwantable, gently used» clothing, shoes, household items and misc stuff. They send a card to let you know when they are on the street. You just leave your stuff on the side walk, porch or driveway in bags or boxes with the card taped to it. The driver stops by and leaves a tax receipt on the door or under your mat, with a bag to use the next time he comes by.
No loading stuff in the car and taking it to a donation spot. Yeah!
No calling to schedule appt. You do not have to be home. They also take furniture and small appliances, unlike the Vietnam Vets pick up truck, which has a routine pick up in our neighborhood also, but you have to call or schedule an appt online.
On occasion, we have been in the yard when the Driver stopped by and he was very polite and personable.
I also understand that they take autos, trailers and boats, but do not know how they are picked up, etc.

Rude, unprofessional and untrained over the phone. Not sure what percent of the proceeds go to the blind but the volunteers need to improve their people skills. I was intimated and called names to donate.
I’m not saying don’t help the blind but the people over the phone need a new attitude. Esp Diane Murphy.
