I needed to get rid of viruses again and did not want to go back to my previous repair man. I wanted someone I could trust. I read the reviews on Special Touch and decided to give them a try. I am so glad I did. Robert was very helpful and fixed what was wrong, did not charge an arm and a leg and I actually felt happy on my way out the door.

Had a cracked computer screen a few months back. Called around and this place was the cheapest. The owner communicates via text, which I loved. He fixed the computer in a few days and didn’t charge an arm and a leg. He also threw in a computer optimization for next to nothing and my computer runs great now.
If I ever had another computer issue I would consider no one else, I would just take my computer here. And if anyone asks I send them here. 5* without question.

I feel like I hit the jackpot the day I found Robert Vanderveen and his business Special Touch Computer Repair. I had an older desktop computer that had not been working for some time. I found it necessary to backup some items I had on my iPad. However, I was not able to do so because of my computer. I thought what a good time to see if my computer could be repaired. I found Robert on Unilocal.His ad had everything I was looking for, most especially, that he would come to the house. He was very pleasant on the phone. He showed up at our scheduled time. He had such a friendly personality and excellent customer service skills. I am very computer challenged, but her never talked down to me. He also took his time explaining things to me. After the initial analysis, it was determined I need a new computer. He was able to sell me a refurbished computer at a very reasonable price. We made an appointment for the next day for him to install the new one. Robert transferred the files from my old computer to the new one. The new computer has all the updates I needed. He also did so many extras for me that I never dreamed of. He did updates I needed on my iPad, he hooked up a new printer I had, and several other things. He also disposed of all my old equipment. He spent 2 hours setting up everything for me. He was so pleasant, patient, understanding, and thorough. I am a very happy, satisfied customer and have already recommended him to several friends. Do not hesitate to give him a call. You will not be disappointed. Robert and Special Touch exceeded my expectations.

When my system drive died recently, I needed somewhere to take my big rig. Local stores had moved on and Special Touch looked great by reviews alone, so I shot off an e-​mail for an initial idea of what might be wrong. Without actually seeing the computer, it was hard to say. Kind of like Robert said, it’s like saying «My car sounds bad, what’s wrong with it?» Too true.
I brought my computer in for an evaluation and he knew what he was doing from the get go. Quite frankly, he must’ve worked on hundreds of systems because he diagnosed the issues with amazing speed. We determined that I probably botched a re-​install and not only was he kind enough to make sure the thing was working as smooth as silk by the time I left, he made sure I had applications to keep it that way.
He just opened a location at 90^th and L, so those not around Papillion don’t have to make a longer trip. I’m looking to build a new system in the near future and Robert’s helping me compare parts. I’m happily taking them to him to give him more business in the future. If you need diagnostics, repair, anything of the sort, talk to him.

I suppose I should start from the beginning.
I emailed this business about my laptop, of which was having issues with the monitor. I described the situation in full to him and he prompted emailed me back just a couple hours later, letting me know that the problem was the GPU (graphics card). He told me that because it is a laptop the GPU is smoldered to the motherboard, meaning a replacement of the board would be necessary to fix the computer. He diagnosed this, by the way, from the first email I sent him alone. He said he’d have to see the laptop in person to be 100% positive, but he assured me that the likelihood of it being anything else was pretty slim. I thanked him for the information, and told him that I’d be back in touch with him if MSI turned me down for warranty-​covered service.
Needless to say, MSI turned me down – initially, that is. I called Robert (business owner) up and told him that I’d require his services and asked for him to get back to me with an estimate. A mere twenty-​ish minutes later he calls me back letting me know that the representative he spoke to informed him that MSI offered a one month grace period on all of their warranties, something that the representative I got connected with neglected to tell me. He had me write down the specific number he called and told me to give them a try.
Make no mistake, the events I described in the last paragraph are pretty damn significant. He probably could have gotten the computer warrantied himself if he so desired, all the while pocketing some money from me. It would have been as simple as withholding a small bit of information. But he didn’t, and now my computer is being returned to the manufacturer to be fixed on their dime. He saved me what would have probably amounted to hundreds of dollars, and I don’t think there are many people who’d be willing to do that.
The bottom line is that this guy won’t lie to you, his prices are good (the reason I called him in the first place), and there isn’t another computer repair business in the Omaha/​metro area that you should consider before calling Special Touch Computer Repair.
