Campmor

I really liked this store. I found snow pants cheaper than other nearby sporting goods store (even Sport Authority that had an awesome sale, and the rip-​off that is Dick’s Sporting Goods). I stood in front of a full wall of socks, not knowing what was what. I mean they’re socks, how difficult can it be to pick a pair? Well, the associate was extremely helpful and knowledgable. When I explained I’d be trekking through ice on a glacier hike in Iceland, he was able to point me to the kind of socks I should be using, and they were cheaper than what I’d seen online and at other stores. The associates seem to know their stuff. I’ll come back to support this store, they have an expansive stock of items (the store is HUGE).

Went there to get cycling shoes. This gentleman (I didn’t get his name. A young guy) was super helpful and knowledgable, and since I told him I’m kind of new to this cycling thing he took his time showing me every single shoes explaining functions and differences, even tho I told him I wasn’t sure I was gonna buy that day. After visiting campmor I visited 2 more different cycle shops and the service and knowledge were nowhere near this sales person in campmor had. one guy just took me to where regular running shoes were. After that I knew I def wanted to go back to campmor and I did! I’ll be shopping here from now and not wonder around anymore. I took few of cycling pals since and they are happy with their service too.

Great products, good prices, but unknowledgeable staff is why they get a «meh, I’ve had better» 2-​star review.
It is safe to say that Campor is but one retailer in a field that is dominated by national chains and e-​commce giants. I used Campmor’s website before going to their store and liked it and the store is huge and has a ton of stuff in stock. The 2 star review is because of the staff. They’re friendly, but very unknowledgeable and on two occasions where they steered me wrong.
First, I was in the store to buy hiking poles and the individual «helping» me steered me away from the more expensive Black Diamond Trail Pros to a cheaper Komperdell set. The sales person explained that all hiking poles failed eventually and I was better to buy something cheaper. I left the store feeling good because the sales person helped save me money. But. .. the Komperdell set failed almost immediately – perhaps the sales person was right! Being stuck on the trail with crappy hiking poles sucked! I would have left them but I instead returned them. Campore was great about the return but what a pain. I bought the Black Diamond Trail Pros that were highly reviewed and couldn’t be happier.
The second time was in for a pair of winter hiking boots. The sales person I worked with measured my foot and got a size that was larger than normal. I had my wool socks on so I thought it was the extra material on my feet. After 20 minutes of wearing the boots around the store, they felt comfortable. However, on the trail they were digging into my ankle. I returned, bought another brand with the help of another sales person who let me to believe the issue was the boot. He gave a reasonable explanation that some boots hit people in weird places. However, $ 150 later, same issue. The fit wasn’t right on the second pair either. But this time they wouldn’t let me return them because they were slightly worn. (I won’t fault Campmor for that as I used them to shovel the driveway a few times.) Nevertheless, a trip to REI where they re-​measured my foot and I was all set! Turns out the dude that measured it the first time was off by 1 size. That made all the difference.
Bottom-​line: Good prices and selection. Just go elsewhere when you need fit/​purchasing advice.

Outdoor, camping mega store.
Took a buddy here to check out some laptop backpacks. They have a big selection of packs and a whole lotta stuff for the ourdoorsy type person. The sales assistance is great. The folks here are very knowledgeable about their products and can help you find that thingy you so desire to make your life better.
People are nice, they kinda leave you alone and let you browse and are attentive if you need assistance

Long story short… was in the store on Monday and bought a pair of cycling gloves. When l got home i was curious about the online price… much to my chagrin they were 10.00 cheaper. l went to the chat section and within a few minutes the store manager called and was as nice as he could be. He credited my card… now that’s great customer service!

I’ve been coming here since I was a child. They have very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. I’ve bought tents, ski wear, hiking boots, backpacks, road bike clothing helmets, and bike accessories, and actives fuel. Prices are great, lower than other places and the Internet –that along with staff recommendations, you won’t end up buying the wrong product.

More people should check Campmor out before going to the now popular big box outdoor stores which are popping up everywhere lately.
I have been going here since I was a teen and everyone is always helpful and supportive. Their prices are very decent and they stock many quality items. They range from bicycles to sunglasses, tents, kayaks, clothing, etc.
Has been and still is an amazing store. and they have a mail order catalog if you are not relatively closeby!

Amazing spot.
1) Came here to look at the NYNJTC maps.
2) They have many maps on display. You can see the maps before you buy.
3) They have large amount of selections of hiking/​camping gear.

As far as I can tell, great selection of equipment. The reason for the low rating is that I encountered two smug employees on two separate occasions. One guy always walks around with some stupid head band and the other is a balding man in the rock climbing department. To be fair I also met some very helpful, friendly workers; however the bad outweighed the good.

Do not have these guys work on your bike
I had them do a complete overhaul on my mountain bike, it was expensive and they completely screwed it up.
The gears don’t hold. They jump in and out whether going up hill or just cruising but the worst is they can’t even screw on a pedal.
I just walked, and pedaled on one leg, 3 miles home because they put a pedal on wrong and it fell off while I was riding. Completely stripped the crank arm.
I don’t think they are mechanics I think they just hire anyone with tools who likes to work on bikes.

This is a store that would blindly send emails for discounts and would not honor them. It sent a 20% discount coupon email without any exclusions and when it was time to honor it the representative said that the discount was already applied. I spoke with the Manager but he kept arguing about it.
Stay clear from this store !!!

I used to do business with Campmor all the time and thought a lot of the company. But I haven’t needed any gear for a while so our relationship fell by the way. So I was really surprised by the Campmor I was met with when I placed an order yesterday.
Shipping is $ 6.99, regardless of what I buy. I could purchase a bowling ball or a decal. It wouldn’t matter. $ 6.99 flat. When I questioned that I got such a nasty attitude I was stunned. Furthermore, for $ 6.99 it took them three days to throw my dinky item into an envelope and a week beyond that to ship it. Unfortunately, they are the only company that carries the item I needed. It was either order from Campmor or forget my item for good.
Fortunately for me that won’t be true again. I will absolutely take my business elsewhere. I’m voting with my wallet. I play for good customer service. I don’t pay to be treated like garbage. Goodbye Campmor, it was nice knowing you.

If you are thinking about leaving civilization for a day for many moons, then you have to stop by Campmor.
Huge selection of everything outdoors! Camping, kayaking, climbing, biking, backpacking, running, skiing and everything else that is outdoors. Great prices that are difficult to beat. The employees all know their sh@t!!! Years of experience and real world experience in the departments they work in.
They have a repair section. I’ve had many pieces of gear fixed and modified there; all for great prices.
When my in-​laws come to visit we always make Campmor a stop.

Place has been ever forever and it’s always consistent.
Good brands, great prices etc etc.
Always go to the clearance rack first — found a new Marmot long down coat for 50% off because it had a small ink dot on it. (coat was black so it wasn’t’ noticeable)

This is a hiker’s equivalent of a Victoria Secrets, a shoe store and Tiffany’s all rolled up into one for a high maintenance woman… it’s the Hadj for a Muslim, Bethlehem for the Three Kings, Christmas morning for a 5 year old. If you have a hiking need, don’t go anywhere else if this place is in range of your car!

While searching for a new bicycle for my 10 year old son we started at Dick’s which had no selection and no clue, Sports Authority which was better but we still couldn’t find what we wanted. We then tried local bike shops which were unanimously horrible. Westwood Cycle, The Bicycle 2 both act like they are superior to you and are doing you a favor all for $ 400.
Stopped in Campmor as a last resort. While they did not have a big selection they did have «Bob». This guy was fantastic, he took his time and even let my son try the bicycles in the parking lot. While I ended up spending more than I wanted, $ 500, I felt I got a vastly superior bike to the others I had looked at and the service that made me feel confident in my purchase.

These guys are seriously good! I placed an order for a jacket at 4pm on Tuesday and I had it in my hands at 1pm on Wednesday! Unbelievably fast, and the item was just as described.
With quick processing and shipping like this, I’ll definitely be shopping with Campmor in the future.

If you need anything camping related this is the place to come. People seem to make pilgrimages here but since it was in my usual travel route I did not have to do that.
The people that work here are passionate about what they do, they know the equipment, they don’t try too hard to upsell, this really is a great store.
I have not used the online store so this review is for the actual brick and mortar store only.

This review is for their online store only. I see they also have a storefront, which I wish I could visit, if it weren’t several states away.
Anyways, their online store has a huge selection of outdoorsy stuff. I was searching for a family camping tent for my fiancé’s birthday, and decided to purchase his gift here since the prices were on the lower end, and they offered free shipping with purchases over a certain amount.
I ordered a tent here over the weekend. I immediately get a confirmation e-​mail stating that they’ll send me another e-​mail once my order has been shipped out. Since I ordered over the weekend, I assumed that my order would be processed and shipped out on Monday. Monday comes and goes, no e-​mail. Tuesday comes and goes, no e-​mail. I e-​mail their customer service department, no response. I try using their ‘live chat’ feature, not available.
I finally call them on Tuesday afternoon and a gentleman checks my order and says that my order was shipped out on Tuesday, and that I’ll receive a confirmation e-​mail on Wednesday. Don’t businesses send out confirmation e-​mails the DAY their orders are shipped? Not the next day?! Wednesday is 3 business days since my order was placed!
Anyways, my fiancé’s gift got here next Monday. The Friday before, was his birthday. If Campmor had processed my order on Monday, I would have most likely gotten his gift on his birthday. Their prices may be lower than other sites, but not much lower. It was inconvenient and difficult for me to find out when and if my order was going to be shipped. The tent that I ordered from them came in it’s actual packaging with no box or additional protection so it suffered lots of exterior damage, and they stuck several stickers/​labels/​packing slips all over — it was not aesthetically appealing, and definitely did not look like a ‘brand new gift’ to give to anybody.
Campmor — I am not a happy camper :(

As a gal who lived in Colorado for five years, I smirked at the thought of an outdoor/​camping store in New Jersey that could compare to some of the megaliths out West. Then I met Campmor. Located off the most unscenic highway ever, this outpost located next to a EMS stands tall.
They have everything and prices are solid. I was going in for some hiking boots and found a great pair. I quickly did a search on the trusty iphone to see if it was cheaper other places, it wasn’t. I did this with a pair of Hunter boots as well and Campmor was the same price as the lowest price online and I can buy them in person after trying them on! What! Also noted is they are super well staffed. There are young guys everywhere ready to help ya out. I think on a Saturday I saw about 10 – 15 employees standing/​running around making trying on and buying shoes a super easy process.
Going through the various sections of the store I saw 40 different types tents, 20 kayaks, 30 sleeping bags, and so much more; it was awesome! Awesome until I wanted to buy everything and have the most pimp camp site ever, but I refrained since I currently go camping 0x a year. Instead, I look forward to planning a future camping trip knowing that my next visit to Campmor I’ll need to buy some gear and I’ll know I’ll have the best!
