Courtyard Paramus

It doesn’t matter how good everything else is if it isn’t quiet when I am sleeping. I was awake most of the night because I could hear every car and truck driving by on Rt 17. The weak battery in the remote control didn’t help.

First off, let me say thank you to Maureen for choosing the perfect room for us! We stayed at the Mariott on New Year’s Eve 2015. We were visiting Paramus to shop for baby furniture and I didn’t even stop to consider that lots of New Years travelers would be sharing our hotel. When we arrived, I realized how very wrong I was as the lobby was filled with well dressed couples who were clearly going out that night to celebrate. That’s awesome and I hope they all had an amazing time, but at 6 ½ months pregnant I was terrified I would not be getting any sleep that night. Luckily, Maureen upgraded us to a corner sweet where we didn’t share walls with anyone, and we didn’t hear a peep the entire night! Chris and I both got a fabulous nights sleep and can’t thank her enough.
This is a nice Mariott, our room with a foldout couch and small kitchenette would be perfect if you were staying for a few days in the area. The room was very clean and bathroom spacious. The bed was comfortable. I will say the fold out couch was a little uncomfortable, just the couch I’m not sure about the bed as we didn’t test it. All in all, we would hands down stay here again. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

A very conveniently located courtyard on Rt 17 in Paramus.
The décor and amenities are typical of recently built or renovated courtyards.
It is modern and well maintained with friendly staff.
I prefer this to the full service Marriott at Park Ridge. The Park Ridge Marriott has a nicer location, building, and a full service restaurant. But they also host lots of wedding and parties which can sometimes be noisy.
This Courtyard is much quieter.

Awesome place to stay. Every member of the staff I met in my one week stay was friendly and helpful. Unlike other hotels I’ve stayed in recently, they didn’t sacrifice the bathroom space in order to provide the spacious room. Comfortable bed in a large room, great water pressure in and equally large bathroom and the most effective blackout drapes I’ve come across and thoroughly appreciated as I was working overnight and sleeping during the day. Downstairs, they have The Bistro which serves breakfast and dinner. It has a good variety on the menu at very reasonable prices. Included in the menu is also a collection of some of the more popular Starbucks drinks, which saved me the trouble of having to go elsewhere for my fix. Would definitely recommend this location.

Great value. The location is perfect for getting anywhere in Bergen Cty. The staff is helpful and welcoming. I really like what they are doing in the lobby. They have created an open and inviting space. The Bistro offers simple food that is prepared to order. Looks like they have taken a page from Starbucks in the way they have set up the lobby.
Rooms are spacious and comfy. Only downside is the slowest elevators on the face of the earth, excuse my dramatic license on that.

Came there on ¹²⁄₂₄ to visit family in NJ. Hotel lobby under construction could not even find the make shift reception desk, which was in a actual room on 1^st floor. After getting room the layout of room was completely wrong with bed on left when u walk in?! The left side if the bed was a foot away from wall so if you lost your balance when you got up you would smack your head into the wall!!! Also TV had 2 b adjusted to be able to see from bed. The horrible buffet breakfast was also not complimentary as is everywhere else!

DO NOT book a BLOCK of rooms at this hotel. Please note: no complaints about the hotel staff or cleanliness of the rooms, etc. The hotel itself is fantastic. All of our many issues revolved around the event planning services. The only reason our weekend was successful was because the hotel staff was extremely accommodating and compensated for the lack of coordination from the corporate event planning staff.
My husband and I booked a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Paramus for our wedding in June and could not have been more disappointed in the event planning staff. I never thought a hotel block could be so stressful but our ordeal with Marriott corporate was honestly the most stressful part of the wedding planning process — and everything seemed to unravel with them a month before the wedding, which is such a critical time and just added to the stress.
Months before the wedding, we booked our block with Marriott. We reserved 20 rooms with the understanding that we could always increase the block if necessary. We were told the bar could be kept open late on the night of the wedding so that our guests could continue to socialize in the expansive lobby and courtyard after returning from the reception. Given that we had many guests coming from afar, we loved all of the amenities that Marriott had to offer and decided to book with them. We also booked a room for brunch the next day.
We were notified two months before the wedding that our event manager was going to be switching. I tried to follow-​up on the status of the bookings in our block (to increase it if necessary) and received no response, from either our contact who was transitioning out of her role or the new staff member. By the time they finally got back to me, we were informed the hotel was completely sold out that night. We also were then told that the bar could not be kept open late. At this point, I was beyond irate because I had to begin searching for a new hotel for overflow guests, plus a spot for people to socialize after the wedding. Additionally, I had to begin changing our plans for transportation because we now needed to shuttle people between TWO hotels, plus an additional venue after the wedding. On top of all of this, we were also told at this time that the brunch room had been double booked and we could no longer hold our event there. To be fair the hotel staff accommodated us and roped off a portion of the public brunch area so our guests could sit together, however we were unable to use the private space that had been reserved.
The hotel does not have a honeymoon suite however they do have regular suites, and my husband and I were looking forward to spending our first night together. When were told that we would be given a regular room instead of a suite, I inquired about having a suite instead (given that it was our wedding night) and the event manager sent me a link to their website to book a suite at full price. I finally reached a very kind manager in the corporate office who agreed to give us a suite after hearing about all of the other disappointments we incurred with our block reservation.
To recap, Marriott corporate (event staff) caused a lot of stress during our wedding planning process. They were unable to deliver on many of the items they promised us, including use of the bar, space for a private brunch, and enough rooms to accommodate our guests. I would HIGHLY recommend against anyone using this hotel for any sort of group block. If I could do it over again, I would have booked our entire wedding weekend at the Hyatt down the road on Route 4.

Hotel
Quiet, clean and with plenty of parking, this is a Marriott property for sure. I tend to use Marriott as my second choice (I love Hyatt) and since our trip called for a NJ visit, this location was very convenient,
We had a seriously helpful front desk person who helped us check in, got our keys and were on our way in seconds.
Rooms were in excellent shape and the wifi connected in seconds — awesome.
Shower pressure and temps were very good for a hotel — so all in all a good place to lay your head if in the area.
be warned though– this location is tucked right off the exit of the Garden State Pkwy and Route 17. If you come off the ramp too fast, you can zoom right by it… then be prepared to do one of those crazy ass NJ turns that take 10 miles to accomplish.
Plenty of parking all around.

Great place to stay. Quality room with outstanding service. Chandra made my two weeks here amazing. She went the extra mile to ensure I was well taken care of. She definitely is the gem of this hotel.

Worst place ever… Cannot get into hotel and cannot get out. Employees are rude and disrespectful. Nicest people I encountered were the housekeepers. Spoke with a man at the front desk who was so disrespectful. Do NOT stay here… I drive 15 more minutes to ensure I get better service at a Hilton.

Excellent. The staff were all very friendly and made our stay that much better. We arrived late after sightseeing in NY, the woman at the front desk helped us check in immediately and was friendly especially towards our boys. Room was nice. The breakfast the following morning was excellent, and again all of the staff in the dining area were superb and attentive. The boys had a nice swim in the pool. All of that for an unbeatable price. We will definitely stay again. I just wish I remembered the staffs names so that I could post here and they could receive recognition.

–Entrance is bit hard to see (.look for SYMs)
–huge pothole impossible o avoid at the exit
–The cooling unit does not seem to have a fan on + cool option. it’s either fan only or cool only… annoying when the unit cuts off all night

Otherwise, it’s a convenient, clean and well priced hotel.

This doesn’t look like a large hotel, but it is a very busy hotel.
With only four floors it can take forever to get one of the two to pick you up.
The lobby area was always hopping.
Look for the Syms and Lenscrafters entrances as the hotels entrance is not clearly marked.
Rooms were clean and comfy. Had to call down for linens, blankets and pillows for the sofa bed and they did arrive quickly.
Free wi-​fi is a plus.
Good central location, but if you are not from the area you will want to know that there is a NJ blue law for Bergen County preventing retails sales on Sunday. That’s right-​no malls, no discount stores, no home improvement stores. NOTHING retail is open on Sunday!

I’m giving it a 3 for only one reason. I’m not big on walking into a hotel with smokers all over the front entrance. Yes going inside you will smell like smoke from all the guests hanging out by the front door. The 3 is a management problem throw a smoking area behind the building somewhere leave your entrance free of smokers and I will give you a 5 next year.

Very nice hotel. Good location nice looking, the rooms are lovely; however, the front desk is horrible.
The front desk people, except the manager and a young man with curly hair, can’t remember his name, are horrible. They come off very rude, not friendly, and fake. It’s as though they can’t stand their job. The manager though is wonderful.

This Courtyard is conveniently located on Route 17 North immediately off of the New Jersey Parkway (which gets you to I-​80, I-​280 and I-​287 in 10 or 15 minutes) and less than a mile from the intersection of Route 4 — a straight shot onto the GW Bridge and NYC. We got to Chelsea on the West Side in 20 minutes, and met family for dinner in East Newark, NJ in about the same time. There are a multitude of restaurants and stores nearby, including a Trader Joe’s that’s walking distance. The front desk will give you a directory with a handy map of Route 17 that highlights services.
This Courtyard has the new, upgraded design. The staff was friendly. Rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. Parking was plentiful.
On the downside, it’s easy to drive by the entrance which is actually a driveway to the now defunct Syms clothing store. Watch out for the HUGE pothole immediately after you exit the highway! The HVAC unit in my room was lame: noisy and finicky. Note to management and maintenance: Fix the digital thermostat.
Can’t beat the price: I paid about $ 125 with taxes/​night for Friday and Saturday night. That’s ¼ what I would pay in NYC. Sure, you give up the convenience of stepping out onto the mean streets of the City ;) but you can use your savings for more great eating adventures.

Courtyard hotels are very consistent from location to location, but I found this one to be lacking. As I was checking in, the lobby was really busy, and it felt chaotic. There were lots of boxes stacked next to the checkin desk, there was an associate behind the counter eating a pizza (and holding the box), and the TV from the bar was blaring.
The market was poorly stocked and the elevator smelled like someone had sprayed a gallon of some awful cleaner; I had to hold my breath because the smell was so strong.
The room itself was fine, but overall, I did not feel like this location was managed as well as others nearby (Montvale or Mahwah). I won’t be coming back to this location.

This is the best Courtyard by Marriott I’ve ever stayed at!
Normally I’m not impressed by CM’s but this one is so cute, so clean and the staff are so detail oriented, I couldn’t help but be very impressed.
First off, I stayed here right after the xmas season. Their holiday decorations were still up. They decorated the front desk with cute ceramic holiday houses laid on a fake snow blanket covered in snow and lit from behind w/​lights. There were also complimentary peppermint sticks, m&m cookies, and HOT tasty apple cider! Xmas music was playing and w/​their two fireplaces and other holiday decorations, their main lobby felt very warm and inviting.
Their lobby is very big and always very clean. They set the tables the evening before. There’s a small business center w/​free printing and faxing complete w/​a fireplace. The lobby has detailed maps of all stores surrounding route 17, which is useful for both tourists and locals alike! There’s a small area that sells microwaveable meals like frozen burritos, lean cuisines, ice cream and drinks as well as candy, chips, and other microwaveable goodies like soup, chef boyardee, mac n cheese, etc. A microwave is put out for the night, which came in handy for my popcorn.
Indoor heated swimming pool. ’nuff said.
The rooms are pristine clean, bright, and modern. Everything looked new, from the crisp white clean sheets, to the spic n span bathroom. The shower curtain was not only very clean, but matched perfectly the framed pictures in the bathroom — a rich dark blue. really what hotel goes out of their way to match the décor w/​the linen? Same goes for the bed sheets and the framed décor in the main room. The shower head was huge and felt like rain fall. There was also an area to sit and bathe in the tub as well. Bathroom was spacious.
The main room was modern, complete with a flat screen tv, nice digital alarm clock, mini fridge and a modern thermostat that worked really well n heated the room within minutes. Automatic lock upon closing the door.
On my last day there, a voicemail was left on the phone asking if we needed anything since my last day was the next day. which I thought was a nice touch.
The attention to detail and extreme cleanliness of this hotel is worth every penny, a lil luxury for a good value.

Clean, new, friendly. Upscale look without the price. Great lounge area with gas fireplace. Small pool, good laundry facilities. Easy access to shopping. This is our preferred place to stay when visiting family out here.
