I’ve personally been coming here for years since my previous hair stylist moved. Typically we have seen Shawna, but I have also seen Anton and Marina. My two sons also come here for their haircuts as well.
My sons and I have never had a bad experience and the prices have always been reasonable. The front desks folks always remember us and the online appointment system is very convenient.
We are very happy here and look forward to many more good hair cutting experiences.

Sonia has been cutting my hair for 6 years now. I switched over from a salon in NYC, happy to stay local with the same quality and attention.

For so long I hated hair salons because of my prior negative experience. My hair was very damaged and my hair stylist Melanie did a great job. She made me feels so comfortable and explained everything she was doing. I loved my experience with my stylist and will definitely be coming back soon.

Melanie does not follow directions. She refuses to listen to what I wanted for my hair. She gave me a really bad hair cut

I love“Anthony” he’s amazing with my hair and always makes me look awesome! I would recommend Anthony to everyone. He gives the best haircuts and beautiful colors. My new color is magenta! I’ve have received so many compliments. I’ve been following Anthony for the longest time and will continue to follow him. Love him!!!

Salon is nice, but nothing special. Steven cut my hair. He called what he did to me ‘under layers’. He never even touched the top hair. I left looking like I didn’t even get a haircut.
They had me fill out a page asking for so much personal information, like I was at a doctors office. Absolutely unnecessary for a haircut.

I have been coming to this salon for many years and have been very happy with their over all SUPERB services. However, after the original owner David Michael left and the new owners took over running the salon it is not the same delightful professional service as in the past. .
My main issue is only with the front desk (manager) and their lack of managerial functions. My last several appointments were with no communication with long wait times, missed appointments, and etc.
My last I visit I waited for 45 minutes only to find out my appointment had been rescheduled for another time and date.
I realize things come up, but the front desk or the manager should have contacted me early in the day. This thoughtlessly activity made me realize this management team has no ability to understand the customers worth, or the quality, or importance of their services.

I have been coming to this salon for over 5 years and it pains me to write such a negative review, but I feel I need to. I have been getting my hair cut and colored here for years but recent bad experiences are forcing me to leave. The main issue being poor communication and a lack of customer appreciation. I got married this fall and had purchased hair extensions that were slightly off from the color of my hair. I made my final appointment before my wedding and asked if when I have my hair colored, if they could dye the extensions as well. I was told yes, sure, not a problem. The weeks leading to my wedding, my mother, my sister and 2 bridesmaids all went to have their hair colored and cut here. They are all frequent customers on MY RECOMMENDATION. The day I went for my final color, the service was abissmal. 3 different people helped me and I spoke to my usual stylist for no more than 3 minutes before she disappeared and left some other person to handle my hair. I had a semi-​permanent glaze applie to my hair and the extensions with no blow out. When i checked out and my bill was $ 130 I was shocked. Not once did anyone mention it would cost $ 65 to dye my $ 25
hair extensions. Not only that but i was hustled in and out and i left with dye all over my face. I was pretty frazzled and when i questioned it, the woman at checkout seemed annoyed. I left without getting into it but after I thought about it, it just didn’t sit right. So, I called back and expressed how I was upset. I am not some random person, me and my friends and family have been going for years. No one thought to mention to me that it was so much to color 6 extensions, which FYI I saw them use the color from the same bottle that they used on my head. I am not unwilling to pay for services i received, but if someone had told me the cost, I would have chosen to not color them. Additionally, other people I spoke to said their salons charged them about $ 25-​$ 35 to color their extensions during a regular color appt.
The reason I am upset is not because I had such a large bill. I could have gotten over it. I am upset because after I called back and was clearly upset, the woman on the phone assured me she would discuss it with the stylist and owner and call me back the next day. No one ever called me back. My mom went in for her appointment the next day, no one mentioned it (and they are aware that she is my mother). I wouldn’t have ever written about this if I didn’t feel as if these people completely blew me off. if a long time client is dissatisfied with something, you should call back. I have no respect for a company that treats clients like that and i refuse to go back. Since they don’t care that I was upset, maybe they will care about a bad review…

There’s no doubt that all hair stylists here are very talented and nice people, but I cannot stand the «older» ladies at the front desk. On numerous occasions, I have been overcharged or promotions in their monthly newsletter were not upheld. Beware if you go in because of a promotion. They always find a way to tell you that what you received was actually more than the promotion and you now owe more! I cannot take it and will not return again.

5 star salon! I am extremely picky with whom I let cut my hair, takes me a long time to find a salon I like and to trust someone to cut my hair and color it. I am so picky that when I moved to MA I came back to the same NJ salon for years to get my haircut and pampered. I did the same thing when I moved to CA too. 12 years later I moved back to NJ and needed to find someone locally. Tried several other places recommended by friends and family and after 2 years and several disappointments I finally asked a friend from high school where she was going as her hair color and cuts always looked great. She recommended Lindsey and David Michael Salon to me. Well I was more than satisfied I was in heaven. I found my stylist and she’s now stuck with me for the next decade or so! Place is clean, trendy and up to date on new products and fads. They have a great loyalty program too! Some treatments are pricey and done are much cheaper than I expected.

If you want to go somewhere high-​end to avoid bad experiences, this place is not for you!
If your from «Out of Town», Save your money and DON’T go to «David Michael Hair Studio» in Paramus unless you want a 20 min shoddy job with a very high price tag.
They socially price profile their customers by a consultation and tell you to fill out a questioner filled with detailed personal questions irrelevant to your hair.
I was clearly sad and unhappy when I left the salon and then returned 15 minutes later to express my dis-​satisfaction for the 2^nd time. Adding to my dismay the Master Stylist left for the day and no one would be able to attend me, not even the next day!
Master Stylist and Front Desk receptionist did not care. I left with the feelings of being pressured, rushed, hustled and ripped off.
They also wanted me to return and pay an additional $ 180+ to get what I wanted to begin with!
Left messages on Hair Studio voicemail (201)843−2727 and personally left a hand written card with red short haired front desk receptionist. Front Desk Diana/​Diane, Master Stylist Lindsey and Manager Jeanie never returned calls
At this point, even if they reached out to me I would not go back to rectify my experience.
Would never recommend this place to anyone.

After a few more recent visits with Melanie, the salon continues to exceed my expectations. My blonde hair is perfect! Still easy to make appointments, the process is always smooth each time. If you join their email list you’ll get some sort of small coupon each month. For July, it was save $ 5 off of any color service. Always useful!

Melanie has been doing my hair and she’s absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend her, she’s great with blonde colors. She’s very fun to talk to and knows her stuff. She’s done great cuts, color, and blowouts on me every time I’ve come in. I’m a high-​level blonde (very light blonde) and I get very nervous with people handling my color, but she does an excellent job. I’m very happy with her work and I’ll continue returning to her.

First time at this salon. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist who was very welcoming and friendly. Didn’t have to wait long at all and my stylist Nicole called me for my appt. We discussed what style I had in mind and she offered great advice. My hair has been a mess after having my second child and she reassured me that what I was going through was normal. Through looking at the pics I brought and discussing why I wanted to cut my hair she gave me some great suggestions and products to help get things back on track. She was super nice and she gave me a great cut. I’m usually getting cuts at salons all around the area because I haven’t found a person or place I was happy with but I was really content with my visit at this salon today and by the service Nicole gave me. Definitely will be visiting her regularly for my haircuts.

The stylists are attentive and always show great customer service. Daniel in particular always does a fabulous job. Reasonably priced and great work every single time

I’m about to leave for yet another haircut at the David Michael Hair Studio and I thought now would be a great time to tell the public WHY I’m returning for the millionth time. First off, I almost exclusively go to Daniel because I have followed him around since he was just a student stylist at Panico. When I went to him back then (oh gosh…2005 maybe?) he fixed my hair that I had literally MELTED off my head. I was young, about 8^th grade, and had a little fiasco with several boxes of bleach and a ton of permanent dye. My hair was actually just mushing off in the brush… it was GROSS! With his expertise, he got my hair to STAY ON MY HEAD-​which I thought at that point was impossible! He did have to cut a lot off, but I always preferred edgy styles so that was just fine, and he saved a lot more than I thought could be salvaged. Flash forward– he took my hair from WHITE to BLACK, which if you’ve ever experienced– is a damn near impossible feat, and got every haircut I desired perfect. Since then, he’s also done my hair pink and blue, managed to put white highlights in my dyed black hair without damaging it, shaved cool designs in my head… the works! He NEVER disappoints me and is always willing to try out new and exciting techniques and styles. I’ve got my best friend going to him too now, and she really puts him through the ringer as well (Red to blonde to brunette, all sorts of cuts) and he is the ONLY person she will ever go to again (she’s super picky!) Daniel has met ALL my needs, and to be frank, I just love that he is always excited to see his clients and we always have a great conversation. It’s definitely not one of those weird silent haircuts where you just stare at what’s happening and try not to meet eyes (which I’ve gotten at other places). The Salon itself is beautiful, well set up, and they always offer refreshments. I’ve also never had a wait for more than 5 minutes (usually not even 5) and the receptionists are so nice! There’s also an actual room for your jackets and things, which I really appreciate in winter. No one wants to be slouching their coat over someone else’s station and risking hair flying all over everything. Speaking of, there never is even hair on the floor! I swear, the second it leaves your head, it’s swept up by someone. I just absolutely love this place!
As a note, Daniel also trained Nicole, another stylist there. She helped to do several of the dye jobs and cuts I’ve gotten there, and I even went to her on her own a few times. She’s also great! If Daniel is booked solid, I go to her. I also recommended her to my boyfriend (who ALSO frequents this salon) and he loves her and another stylist. My boyfriend has really difficult-​bone straight asian-​esque hair and he had been rocking a «bowl cut» from his ex-​stylist for too long. Went to David Michael– and his problems are now a thing of the past! He doesn’t look like a bowl of boyfriend anymore! He has layers and oomph!
Never even a single complaint. Gosh… I love this place!

THE BEST in Bergen County! Can’t go wrong with any of the stylists. My faves are Wendy, Audi and Lindsay. I go 1 – 2 times per week for a blow out and it lasts for days. I recommend making appointment in advance.

Liz is my new best friend :) she was fantastic, very patient, very pretty and friendly. We spoke all the time, she was so funny! But prices were high :(- I don’t mind, the place was clean, the girls were all pretty, and my new best friend rocked. My wife is now jealous hehehe. But she will see Liz asap for a wash and blow dry. All for now, AM.

Do you want big, voluminous Jersey hair? Go see Rosie. She is my go to gal. Love her! She gives me that Jersey Girl Pageant hair that I love. She teases the sh*t out of my hair and makes it so big. The staff here is all wonderful. Plus they always have on Bravo. What else can a girl ask for while getting her hair washed and watching Real Housewives? Price is totally reasonable. $ 80 for a cut? Sign me up! Go see Rosie, love her!
Only gripe: No wine! Maybe because it’s North Jersey but I’m used to being served some wine or champagne at other salons.

Honestly I’m floored by these prices. I’ve been here now twice — saw two different people. The first time was a hair cut with a master designer, so that cut ws $ 80. It was not worth $ 80. It was my fault though; i needed a trim badly and wanted to go somewhere high-​end to avoid bad experiences, but the woman literally only cut about 1 inch off the hair. $ 80 for that? Waste.
The second time was a hair cut. This time, I wanted something more dramatic, like at least 4 – 5 inches. The woman cut 7 inches. She cut it way too short, and tried giving me some sassy-​hoochie hair styling afterwards. I’m a relatively conservatively dressed person, and I walked out of there with huge hair and curls (on already-​short hair). She said «I’m going to style your hair sexy!!» But no… not sexy. She also didn’t cut my layers well at all. It was a botched layer job, which is the worst. That haircut was $ 50.
Overall, the quality of work is questionable and not worth the prices. Maybe for hair color or glaze, but not hair cuts.
