THE WORST STORE. DO NOT BUY FURNITURE. The furniture are mad so cheap and break very easily. I bought a sofa and it took them 3 months to deliver it. It set in their warehouse for a whole month and only after calling about 10 times that the shipping company called me to schedule a delivery. Two guys delivered the sofa and tried to screw the legs for 45 minutes. 10 minutes after they left — the legs broke. I called the same day to get the company pick up the sofa. It has been 40 days now after speaking to 5 reps and 2 supervisors and I still didn’t get a call for a pick up. The supervisors will tell you that such large company does not control their shipping company and they cannot get in touch with the. Its a big fat lie. I just called and spoke to a rep that was able to connect me with the shipping company in 5 minutes. I would never buy anything in this store. The worst customer service.

What could be more frustrating than driving to West Elm in Paramus, purchasing $ 340 of lighting fixtures, driving home, and unpacking it only to find you’ve been given the wrong merchandise? Driving back to West Elm in Paramus to return it only to encounter an unapologetic, unpleasant, and defensive manager to handle the return. Poor attention to detail in packing merchandise. Poor customer service when asked to address a problem of their own creation. An unenjoyable waste of time. Nightmare on West Elm Street?

I love this place! I’m always greeted upon entering the store. The sales associates are are always willing to take our items to the cash register that way our hands are free! The store may be pricey, but they always have great sales & the credit card rewards help tons!!!

Despite what my check-​ins say, I’ve been to this West Elm more than once. I love this store, but this particular location has got to be in one of the most inconvenient stretches of highway in North Jersey. Route 17 is always crowded, slow, & a total nightmare during the holidays. So, if I need to go to West Elm, I make sure I *really* need to go to West Elm. Otherwise, it’s into the city I go!
With that said, this store is wonderful. Once inside, you’re treated to a spacious, beautifully laid out showroom of furniture, lighting, & home décor. It’s not difficult to spend your afternoon looking at everything from bedding to pillows to lamps to cooking gadgets. The employees are very friendly, their sales are clearly marked, & their stock is massive. I could (and have) spent more than an hour browsing. It’s really a nice store, once you get there.
Bonus: I called this location once when I was looking to buy a rug from
. I wanted to see if they had the rug in stock, so I could examine it before I purchased. They didn’t have it, but the store employee stayed on the phone with me & chatted while she searched all the nearby locations for the rug. Isn’t that nice?

Me and my fiancé were doing some house renovations and needed a few things. We decided to go to West Elm and although it can get pretty expensive I inquired about the West Elm Credit Card. We found out we had two choices: 0% interest for 12 months or what they call DESIGN DOLLARS-​for every $ 250 you spend you get $ 25. Of course since we were spending so much on renovations the 0% sounded better so we would have time to pay it off. We bought a few things totaling $ 1600. Since I initially had a good experience we went back two more times within a months time span and purchased 2 new rugs and bedding. I asked the associate if I could add this to my 0% interest West Elm card and she said most certainly. All the sudden I start getting charged interest and call them. They told me my purchase needed to be over $ 750 in order to qualify which they DID NOT tell me in store! I spent over $ 600 my 2^nd visit and another $ 400 the other. Why wouldn’t I have gotten everything together in one shot in order to meet this «$ 750» requirement so I could avoid all those ridiculous finance and APR charges? Now what? West Elm, Comenity Bank, no one could help me. They just lie or shall I say omit certain information to get the sale. Horrible customer service! My advice, go somewhere else to get honest customer service, and make sure to ask all the questions you need to before making a decision.

Service is outstanding. I went on a Saturday and the patience of my sales associate was commendable. While much of what i wanted was out of stock, she was able to go to the back and locate a quilt that happened to be hidden. Made my day! Showroom is awesome with tons of inspiration. I never leave without buying something! Wish they would open more locations because 17 is everyones nightmare on a Saturday.

Here is a tip: if you looking for a dinning table and love west elm designs MAKE SURE YOU PLACE THE ORDER 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE.
Me and my wife went to multiple west elm location (ny & nj) trying to locate a dinning table… every location gave us different info as far as the wait list and surcharges… oh yeah there are surcharges involved if you want to order something not available in stores.
Overall disappointed and wont bother spending any more time looking at their lines when nothing is available or gets discontinued fast.
Shame.

i would give this less than 1 if i could. They did not honor the price they quoted and even confirmed by email
I went to the store and purchased a sofa for $ 999 and was told if I spent over $ 1000 it would be 25% off, so I bought a $ 5 candle as well. I paid for this purchase and even received an email confirmation regarding my payment. I then received a voicemail stating that in the very fine print it said that the 25% off discount did not apply on special order sofas and they would have to charge me full price. This was roughly 5 hours after the purchase was (I thought) completed, they changed the price on me. Not cool.

Nice and well organized store. Love west elm furnitures and their kitchen line. They maintain nice modern design with good quality, always makes great statement piece for the house.
This is only one west elm store around my area. Parking isn’t spacey but has its own parking lot infront. It looks spacey outside but it’s kinda limited space inside. Generally well organized, hard to get help unless you ask the staff who works in the counter.
I gave them a three stars because customer service isn’t consistent, sometimes you can get good help and sometimes not. I purchased with several huge bag full of kitchen and living room stuff. I had to look for some help to move my purchase to my car, that wasn’t easy at all.

The store was much smaller than I anticipated, I kept saying to my husband «where is the rest of the stuff?» When I went up to the cashier counter to check out the color swatches for a couch I was interested in, the kid at the counter had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. The manager stepped up and apologized that he was short handed for labor day weekend, which was justify the kid’s lack of experience. On the plus side, the bathroom is so nice and clean.

I have purchased a lot of various home furnishings over the years from this brand; both online, in the old city location, and as of late, at the Paramus location.
My review is for the people at the Paramus location.
John– the store manager, the man with a plan, an all around cool guy. He goes above and beyond in the customer service area and is super friendly in the process. Think about the kind of total jerks he must encounter in Paramus on a daily basis, and he’s still considerate and accommodating!
Anita– design specialist, also super helpful, accommodating, and considerate.

This is my favorite furniture store. Modern and stylish — they stay relevant and basically every piece of furniture I ever purchased was either from this store, or used from someone who bought it from this store.
The stuff holds up over time, so while it’s on the pricier side, I feel like it’s just worth it.
Some things like a fork and knife for $ 50 are crazy but long term pieces like a bed set, desk, table, are usually worth the price tag.
Also — Linda is my favorite. I look for her advice on just about everything I buy.

Service was a bit average when the furniture was delivered — staff were very unhelpful until senior management got involved. The do have a great range though and ultimately my issue was solved. I initially left a terrible review but I’ve mellowed!

The prices and style are great. Also, the workers in the store where knowledgable and really helpful when I bought a new couch. After that, the service fell apart. I order a couch back on Feb 3^rd 2013. They said 8 weeks tops, now he I am March 18^th and I still haven’t received it.
NO, calls, no emails to provide update. After taking my money I have to go track down my couch. So much for follow up service.

I love West Elm. Sure its a BIT pricey, but it is far and away the most affordable option for the look. For those not familiar, West Elm specializes in a high quality furniture and home accents with a very urban minimal style with accents and accessories that incorporate natural elements, reclaimed materials and/​or Global marketplace designs.
I find this location to be superior in terms of service to the Manhattan location I had previously visited. The salespeople have always been friendly and efficient. I have never been talked down too, even though it is pretty clear from my Old Navy jeans that West Elm is on the high end of my budget.
The space is very nice, with the typical West Elm airiness. Paramus is rather small, and has a bit more limited selection.
If you use their credit card, they have an incentive program where you receive 10% back in the form of store credit. While this is nice, you have to use all the credit in one trip (sometimes difficult to do, if you have just made a big purchase). Also, if your purchase goes over the certificate amount, you have to pay for the balance on the West Elm card. Still, it’s a nice incentive.
One star deduction: they had sold out of the table I wanted, but assured me that they would be getting it in stock in 3 – 6 months (which is why they couldn’t sell me the floor sample). I asked if I could get a curtesy call when the table was back in, and the girl said «sure» and took down all my information. I never got the call. Fortunately I was checking the website, and figured it out on my own. I later found that that girl no longer worked there, so I assume there was just a communication break.

The West Elm in Paramus is well staffed and has knowledgable and friendly associates. I’ve been to all the locations in NY:
Chelsea — Large store, could not find anyone to help. It seems there are two people working the entire store and they are always busy.
Broadway — This store is huge, but like Chelsea, way understaffed. And on top of that, when you do see a staff person, they ignore you, even though you are obviously trying to get their attention. Probably my least favorite location.
Riverhead — This is their outlet. Completely different staff (obvious given the location of the store) but honestly, there are more people working in this Outlet than all the locations combined. Would give it 5 stars except the non-​refundable rug I bought from there (albeit at an awesome discount) had a huge stain on it.
Dumbo — This location is a mix. More staff than Broadway and Chelsea, yet you can wait on line to pay for things while 3 sales associates are walking around the store fixing displays. That doesn’t make sense to me. And they can definitely cop a tude but I guess if I worked in Dumbo I would do the same.
At the end of the day, I would order online for West Elm’s trendy yet not so great quality furniture because it fits my style and price point. But their shipping costs (and extra handling depending on the item) can run up the cost of the item. As for the stores, they are all nightmares in their own rite, except the Riverhead and Paramus one.

Good in between option if you are ready to graduate from ikea but not ready yet for boconcept.
Spacious and airy location is definitely improving their displays.
Salespeople are so nice that they told me that all beddings are going on sale 20pct next week.

The managers at this store were super nice when I was in there, which is really my reason for reviewing. Some of the furniture is a bit modern, but combined with some other designers it can look great. This location is very large too, lots of space to walk around. I’ve been happy with the quality of the products.

I absolutely love this store! Not only is their furniture and accessories right up my alley, the prices are decent for the quality and the customer service is excellent!
The best time to shop is on weeknights when it’s nice and empty… great for undivided attention from your sales associate! You can get spoiled big time if you’re lucky to be helped by Linda, John or Marissa (as you can see I’m a frequent customer: p). And their customer service over the phone is also great!
I like to browse through all the furniture, bedding and accessories that are on regular price first and save the sale section (a small corner in the back) for last. I get so excited when I find such great buys like my rope stripe bedding (king duvet cover, 2 pillow cases, 2 euro shams) all for under $ 50 and throw pillow cases for $ 4! I am also a happy owner of 8 Garvey dining chairs, Bicolor linen window panels, Jute/​poly roman shades, and the Square arm sofa and chair!
Plus, if you make purchases with their West Elm credit card, you receive 25 design dollars for every $ 250 you spend! Just the other day I used my 25 design dollars for an online purchase on a $ 30 queen box spring mattress cover (marked down from $ 80)… SCORE!!! And every now and then you receive discount notices via e-​mail like a coupon for an additional 15% off purchases!

Ok, so West Elm’s latest addition isn’t nearly as large or as good as their location in Chelsea (the only other one I’ve been to)… but it’s got a few perks.
1. It’s West Elm. The perfect fusion of modern and earthy design for furniture and home décor. Clean, angular lines with a few tree stumps thrown in along the way. Everything is very simple, product and store design. My favorite part is its complete lack of floral patterned sofas or anything resembling the «country» look which seems to fill a lot of department stores.
2. It’s right near one of my jobs, which I’m sure doesn’t matter to you, but it gives me something to do if I have a long break.
3. It’s next to Starbucks and the Container Store. So if you’re in the mood for coffee or… containers, you’re in luck!
BUT… like any other West Elm, it is a bit pricey. Those nifty tree stumps (used as end tables) will run you $ 100 each… Does anyone know of a nearby lumber yard? Then you start to realize you really don’t have a lot of money at all and you just spent $ 5 on an iced mocha at Starbucks and $ 8 on wrapping paper at the Container Store AND, well, you could go to the IKEA right down the street instead… Maybe if their sales people acknowledge me next time I will be in a better mood to buy.
