Martini and a Movie at the Wildlife Experience

What a great idea for a non-​profit museum to host a monthly movie in their IMAX theater and serve martinis! For $ 20 you get two drink tickets, good for either a pear, watermelon or regular martini, and a selection of cheeses and desserts. If martinis aren’t your thing, there’s also a cash bar where you can purchase beer, wine and other spirits. You can take your drinks in the theater and they give you free popcorn on your way in to watch the movie. One suggestion, head in to the theater by 7:15 or you’ll get stuck in one of the first rows. You also cannot reenter the theater once the movie starts, so go to the restroom before.
The movies shown are classics; we saw «A Streetcar Named Desire» (Marlon Brando at his best) and next month (October) they are showing «The Shining.» We got to vote for next year’s movies some of which included The Shawshank Redemption, Jaws and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I’m not sure which films were selected. Before the movie starts they have trivia and you can win prizes for answering correctly. You’ll have to shout over some of the tipsy people to be heard, though.
The only downside? It’s in Parker, so you if you live in the city you’ll need to drive waaaayy out to Lincoln Ave and I-​25, but it’s worth it for a fun and unique Thursday evening.

I enjoyed everything about this evening from the pear martini to the free popcorn to seeing my movie crush (a young Marlon Brando) on a giant iMAX screen. It is a bit of a drive to Parker, but totally worth it in my opinion.
Basically you buy a ticket for $ 20 (and hey! what do you know? just like that you’re supporting a non-​profit!) and then you get 2 martinis, snacks, popcorn and a classic movie. Feels like a good deal to me.
I saw all ages of people there. I saw people on dates and gaggles of girls out for a ladies night event. Guys, if you want to score points with your lady, buck up and offer to drive so she can have drinks and watch old-​time heartthrobs. Ladies, just form a group and alternate. Then everyone can experience this fun variation of the norm. :)
