Thayer’s Select Meats

We love this place! A locally owned and operated specialty meat store that has the best stuffed peppers, bacon, chicken, soups, perogies … I love that I can teach my children to shop locally with stores like this, where they can also get a sample of their favorite cheese and the folks who work there are very friendly.
They also have a great sale on boneless chicken breasts on the first weekend of every month, have a rewards card, and are always willing to give you great cooking tips and advice for the meats that you purchase there.
I highly recommend that you stop in, you will love this place!

Since moving to CLE some 7 years ago, I dreamed of a true-​blue butcher… I’m happy to report that I’ve found it!
The location (strip mall) isn’t the most appealing, but the selections most certainly are. Fresh meats that look the way they’re supposed to, Gerber’s chicken at a great (not Heinen’s) price, good variety of prepared foods and local jarred/​canned/​frozen goodness.
Yeah, I wish it was downtown, but well worth the weekly side-​trip. Look for me on Saturday mornings… I’ll be the guy driving in the opposite direction of the craziness that is the Westside Market.

I accidentally came upon this shop while working down the road for The Worlds Largest Evil Corporate Telecommunications, Data and Content Provider. I was walking out of the Acme Grocery Store and there it was. The sign in the front window caught my stare and if you didn’t know me better, you might have thought I was leering at the very tall, full figured blond in the skirt and heels walking by.
Not at all. What had my undivided attention in the window of this Parma, Ohio meat market was the hand drawn sign advertising Tri Tip roasts. And so it was. Here I am, a million miles away from home in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio and the siren song of a triangular sirloin roast has my heart skipping a beat.
I immediately walked into this shop and engaged a very charming Margaret Mary. Suppressing all intentions of proposing marriage to a woman running a meat market with the best made franks and tri-​tip, it was everything to keep my enthusiasm in check. The shop had just recently been supplied with these roasts and it was everything in my power to stop my desire to go buy a grill and set it up in the front of this store to show Parma, Ohio how to properly cook tri tip. Instead, I e-​mailed Margaret Mary my killer award winning recipe.
To my local peeps in Parma: This is the best tri-​tip in Ohio. Buy it, season it, grill and slice it thin against the grain! And you better buy it from Thayers! Huge meat counter with an incredible selection. Knowledgeable staff. This is what a local meat shop is all about.
