Bohren’S Moving & Storage

I would really like to give Bohrens/​United FIVE stars! Packers were Excellent in working hard and wrapping things extremely well! Movers on the ‘out’ and on the ‘in’ worked hard and fast and did not leave one scratch on the walls or floors. They misplaced some of our garage material while in storage and were very prompt and fair in cutting a reimbursement check. They went beyond our contracted delivery date, and were again very prompt in issuing us a check for $ 100 for each late day, which worked out great for us, as we were staying with relatives.
So why a 3? Why 2 stars down? The salesman, the 40-​year veteran, and the relation to the President was a complete idiot! This moron came to our house on TWO occasions, because we took the first estimate for move only, and the 2^nd estimate for packing the remainder of our house after we packed perhaps a third. My sole direction to him was A NOT GREATER THAN PRICE. I WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT MY FINAL CHARGE IS BEFORE WE MOVE. I am pretty sure we pay a higher tariff rate to have that ‘price assurance’ and there is a contract caveat that they WILL charge more if the actual move is more than their 10% overage allowance And he talks and talks and talks of his 40 years of experience and how his competitors are disingenuous or idiots and this idiot missed the packed box count and the total weight of the move by 25−30% !! FORTY YEARS EXPERIENCE AND A TWENTY-​FIVE PERCENT MISS ON THE ESTIMATE! Within 5 minutes of the Packers pulling up to the house with the paperwork, the lead guy called out this mistake, which was OBVIOUS to him, and at the end of the storage/​move we got charged with $ 2000 additional on top of over $ 15K that was supposedly a STRAIGHT TALK PRICE ASSURANCE ORDER FOR SERVICE/​BILL OF LADING !! So the salesman was a 1-​star and I split the difference.

Move was even quicker and more efficient than estimated. They didn’t leave until everything was assembled and in its proper place, and even fixed a piece of furniture that was already damaged before they arrived. Best move ever.

I have had Bohren’s move me twice now. The first time, I was working exclusively with the Robbinsville office. They were great — fast, responsible, efficient. No complaints, even hefting my tons of stuff up to my 3^rd-​floor walk-​up!
The second time, I had them both pack and move me. I needed an extremely last-​minute move, so to accommodate my schedule needs, I had the Robbinsville office pack for me and the Parsippany office move me. Both crews were fantastic. Can’t say enough good things about them. I was incredibly stressed and frazzled due to complicated lease negotiations, but everyone with Bohren’s was patient, professional, and efficient.
I’m sharing this on the Unilocal for both Parsippany and Robbinsville, since I worked through both offices and had great service from both of them.
After a REALLY BAD experience with a certain state-​focused local moving company, working with Bohren’s was a huge relief and I would recommend them without reservations!

I would highly recommend this company. I used Borhen’s 10 years ago and used them again for a recent move. They were able to accommodate a move on short notice since our home sold in a few days with settlement in 30 days. The movers showed up on time and worked non-​stop to get the truck loaded. Borhen’s stored all of our furniture since our new construction home wasn’t finished. I was also impressed with the inventory documentation system used by numbering all items and cross checking the list to make sure all items were delivered. All of the furniture was delivered in good condition, except for 2 small dings on a table. For a double move, that is not bad and a claim form has been submitted.
This company is very professional from the start with the detailed proposal provided until the end with the delivery.

Our move in one word: SLOW! The salesman completely underestimated the number of men needed for our job. Worse then that, after they put in a full day’s work for our move they were called to help at another move until after midnight. When they showed up late the next morning to complete our job the guys were exhausted. The men did their best I will say that but there was just not enough of them. We were unloading the truck in the dark. We had to unpack our flashlights so they could see inside the truck. When we could see things were going slow and the men needed more help I called the office. Our move coordinator left the office at 3pm! Needless to say we would not use them again!

We just moved from Landing, NJ to West Orange, NJ; not a large move by any means but what a difference movers make! We had never used a moving company and for a first experience I can easily say I will never move again without hiring someone, and I would definitely pick this company again. Al the salesman/​assessor was excellent and informative. He responded very quickly to emails and answered all of our questions promptly. Patrick and his team showed up right on time and checked in with us constantly to make sure they were working according to our specifications and being careful with everything. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far this weekend and the guys didn’t complain once or slow down at any point. They showed up at 9am on the dot and thanks to them we were moved in (4pm) and almost completely unpacked by 7pm. We did have some damage but it was minor and likely less than had we moved ourselves.

Bohren’s is awesome and always does quick, quality work for us. We use them frequently to transport fragile, expensive equipment. Ask for Melissa when you are coordinating details — she is incredibly sweet and a very reliable employee.

WARNING! You are taking a HUGE risk if you entrust your furniture to Bohrens. I put my furniture in storage with them in January 2010 and had them remove and deliver to my home in June 2014. They knowingly loaded damaged furniture on a truck and attempted to deliver it. A shattered glass coffee table, splintered dining room chair leg, cracked the frames of 2 antique chairs that were my grandmothers, a demolished bedroom set (a pile of rubble), broken chandelier, fabric on couch cut, and stripped brass detail off a dining room table leg. Forget their idea of a climate control environment for storage, because the metal legs on my credenza were pitted and moldy. No apology, no explanation as to how it happend, but they offered me $ 660 for my damages despite the before and after photos and $ 40,000 in receipts and/​or appraisals. They do not deserve 1 star, but their wasn’t anyway to post without doing so.

I dreaded my move. Had read numerous bad reviews that are written quite literally about ALL the moving companies, and was not sure what I was in for. I had the good fortune of getting Terry and his crew. I have moved long distance three times, and this last move from NJ to FL was by far the best. Terry and crew arrived @ 2 in the afternoon. I was not their first pick up, so I was certain I would require a second truck. To my amazement, it all fit! These guys were spatial masters, obviously very experienced. They treated my fragile items with care and Terry seemed pretty protective about making sure the packing was done so that nothing got damaged. The delivery was prompt. They were careful about laying down rolling paper so as not to scratch floors. Not a broken anything-​even my fragile antique glass display table arrived intact! Can’t say enough nice things about them. They made a challenging undertaking, a pleasure.

We expected the usual problems but this move from NJ to Florida coulD not have gone smoother or better. The driver and head of the loading and unloading team was professional and organized. Ask for Mark Wenger, first class. The two teams were equally helpful with no attitude except to do what we wanted.

THE WORST MOVERS! If I could give these movers –5 stars I would. I moved from the east coast to the west and had them put my things in storage for a few years. I just took everything out and they literally threw everything in. Put heavy boxes on top of boxes that clearly had «fragile» written on it. Broke the glass to my linen cabinet. Scratched fine antique tables, took a chunk of wood off a 200 yr. old antique table that isn’t replaceable, left tape glue all over my fabric couch, so I have to buy a new one, and I’m missing items. If you value your property, DO NOT use Bohrens. They should be put out of business. They did not provide the service they promised at all.

Very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a very small move. Very accommodating. No damage. Timely.
