Cycle Craft

I needed a freewheel installed and possibly the outer cog switched due to frame clearance for an event –Racin4mason. A benefit ride to help inner city youths attend camp in a rural setting. Went to a shop in Morristown, couldn’t help me. Let me give Cycle Craft another chance I thought. I had been put off by an elitist attitude in the past. I was directed to their repair section. the bearded spectacled tech (Where’s Waldo?). Took a look and said he could change the freewheel out but not take off the cog. All right, then. I explained my time constraint. Could he possibly do it today? NO WAY possible, Not until Saturday. I explained again my needing this done today as I would not be in the area again before the race. Sorry– see you later. My last experience was less than stellar with this repair dept. I had brought 3 wheels in to be trued last fall. First they insisted that someone else’s wheels where mine when I went to pick them up. … When they finally located them they claimed that they were still a little out of true, they did the best they could. $ 70+ dollars wasted. I was so frustrated, I purchased a spoke tool, watched a Youtube video and re-​trued the wheels to an almost perfect state. I had purchased this Italian racing Bike that I needed the freewheel changed in this very store 27 years ago– so much for customer loyalty. I have recently got back into cycling in a big way– I spend MONEY. I was planning on getting fitted there and possibly buying a high end bike to round out my collection. Not happening now, never going back. Oh yeah, went to Sussex Bike and Sport shop out by where I live. Not only did they do the repair in 3 minutes (with a smile and a friendly approachable attitude), they would have changed out the outer cog in a heartbeat. Turns out it was not needed. I had enough clearance. Doing all my business there from now on. This is a lesson for other small business– HOW TO LOSE CUSTOMERS 101. The little things is what makes loyal customers and keeps them coming back.

I bought my first bike here. I honestly didn’t know what I was doing & I was sooo STRESSED. Google made me more confused then ever… Road, hybrid, Trek, Giant blah blah blah. All my stress got resolved when I met Sunny. He was very informative. He kindly walked me through the different bikes and answered all my numerous questions. The whole experience was actually surprisingly pleasant and comfortable. Within minutes, I found out the bike I was looking for was a hybrid! I took out one sexy mat black cannondale bike out for a spin and I think I fell in love. I gave other bikes a chance but it just didn’t feel right. Even though the black bike was a match made in heaven, I didn’t want to make an irrational decision without weighing my options so I kindly let Sunny know that I like the bike but I wanted to see my other options before making the purchase.
So I left and went to different bike shops to expand my horizons but the experience wasn’t quite the same. They either didn’t have a wide section of bikes or I just didn’t click with the staff and I just couldn’t wait to get out of the store. I felt like a walking check book that want a piece of in those stores. So I CAME BACK to cycle craft and looked for sunny and purchased my black sexy bike today. I was very limited on time so sunny was very cooperative and considerate of my time and prepared all the essential gadgets that I needed. And to top it all off, he offered to drop off the bike (for my situation) because he valued me as a customer. WOW! So awesome! I really enjoyed my first bike purchase experience at cycle craft and I will definitely come back.

Bike repair crew really helped me out. Store hours on Internet are wrong. Some days they close at 5 or 6.

So incredibly nice, knowledgeable and helpful.
Their customer service is wonderful. I was so pleasantly surprised solely because I prepared myself for the typical low knowledge based salesperson at a chain sporting goods store.
The salesperson at Cycle Craft was so kind and nice. I asked him a million questions and he answered everyone, taking his time to make sure I understood what he was explaining.

I recently purchased my new bike from Cycle Craft. Mike was informative and took the time to explain all the new features to me. I appreciated his patience and never felt pressured to buy anything that I didn’t want or need.
After explaining what type of rider I was, Mike suggested a few different bikes to test ride and I decided on the 2016 «Flourish» by Giant with the step through frame. Given my height, Mike special ordered the frame size that would be best and since I couldn’t decide on the color looking on-​line, he ordered both for me. I chose the trendy white and brown model (as opposed to the aqua and black). The frame is all white with a few brown scrolls and the saddle, grips and even tires are all brown. It’s quite unique looking. It’s perfect for me as I just want to ride around town in comfort and the Flourish fits the bill.

Despite having a great bike shop very close to me, I would recommend Cycle Craft if you want to choose from a variety of manufacturers. It’s great to see that good customer service isn’t a lost art and I appreciate all that I got throughout my purchase. Thank you Mike and Cycle Craft!

I have worked with the guys at Cycle Craft for many years now and I have been consistently impressed with their high level of professionalism. Their mechanics are some of the best in New Jersey and they have an excellent selection. I also found them very willing to help me find what I need and I’ve never felt like they were pushing me to buy stuff I didn’t need.

Disappointed with the service here. Perhaps i just went at the wrong times. Idk. I was looking to buy a new bike. I forget the salesman name who helped me briefly. Anyway told me what i was looking for. He pulled out a cannondale quick 5. Gave a oh so brief description and then walked away to help someone else that just came in. Not even an excuse me ill be right back. I was short on time. So i put it back and walked out.
Went back another day. There was one guy already looking at an expensive road bike. Plus another customer standing around waiting for help. I looked around for a few minutes and just left. Maybe if i were buying a 2000 dollar road bike id get more help.
I ended up at Martys in Randolph. Super nice guys. Explained everything to me. I even tested out a trek 7.3. Go to these guys and you ll have a much better experience

Great store, great people. This has been my go to store for the past 20 years. Now I live in Brooklyn and I still come to Cycle Craft when I need something.
Four years ago I bought my first road bike. Mike E. helped me pick out my bike and did the fitting. A couple of weeks ago, I brought the bike in for maintenance and I mentioned to Mike that I think I needed to be re-​fitted because I had just started having back pain while doing long rides and he took the time to evaluate the problem. He dedicated as much time to correcting the problem as when I first bought the bike. Now that’s service. Thanks Mike.

I bought my first road bike here. I had a fitting with Mike. This place is great. They hand held me with my first purchase throughout the whole process. Everything from the shoes, to the bike and eyewear. They even have an eyewear line specifically made for Asians! The eyewear fit me perfectly.
The bike is absolutely perfect. There is nothing like having a bike custom fit just for you.
The owners and super nice too. I can’t say a negative thing about this place. They have a nice assortment of bike clothes, shoes, accessories, and if course bikes.

Best employees in the world! Very friendly, great service. You won’t find me in tiny biker shorts with my custom 30,000 dollar bike riding in the middle of the road pretending I can ride my bike in front of cars. I’m just an average person that loves to ride a bike for some exercise. The people that work here never take advantage of me and are always looking to help me make the best decision regarding service. Thanks!

I’ve been a customer for about 25 years, ever since Ronnie the old owner stood outside smoking cigarettes at the tiny shop at the end of the other building. The current owner, Brendan, and his staff are terrific. The service is great. Unlike the days of Ronnie, love of cycling comes from the top down. They offer a great value and make customers feel like family. Highly recommended!

I stopped by on a quest to pick up a more comfortable seat than the stock one that came with my bike, purchased from Walmart. Tim was first to approach me. He was pleasant, professional and direct, without being aggressive. He took almost a full hour to ask me qualifying questions, get to know me and let me ride three different saddles on a showroom bike, before I decided on the one for me. Had I not stopped by, I would have undoubtedly gone to Walmart and bought the cheapest possible «gel» seat. With Tim’s help however, I have the right seat, the measurements taken for proper set-​up, and the peace of mind that I can return the seat if Im not satisfied for return or refund. They even installed my new seat on the old seat-​post while I waited. Tim made my buying experience a genuine pleasure. Obviously this business is doing something right!

They are pricey but you do get great service for the cost. I even brought in my son’s bike after he ruined the brake cables (twisting the handlebar until the cable tore loose) and they fixed everything for a few bucks (well worth it).

Cycle Craft has been my go-​to shop for the better part of 10 years now. Their knowledgeable sales staff and mechanics always take great care of me. Brendan, the owner, really knows his stuff and I always take his recommendations into consideration with any big purchase that I make. They have a location up in Long Valley as well and, although it is smaller, always carries what I need — If they don’t have it, they can get it fast. I’m always impressed.

Though it is a haul for me, this has become my go-​to shop. The mechanics are excellent and the knowledge of the sales staff is comprehensive. They are also willing to say they don’t know, let them find out. No attempt to polish it over.
They also take you seriously. Even if you don’t look like a «cyclist» you get their attention, undivided, to answer all your questions. They will also leave you alone if you tell them you are just browsing.
The range of bikes runs from a couple of hundred for a childs bike to multi-​thousand dollar bikes built of «unobtanium» and I found that no matter what I was looking at I got the same attention.
If I bring in my 20 year old road bike or my sons new bike in for repair they get the same attention.
When I picked my bike up from repair the Manager didn’t like the condition his team had left the bar tape on my bike and insisted on giving me free tape to replace it. That is service and that is being conscientious.
After spending months picking their brains and trying a variety of bikes I finally decided on a bike and I am purchasing it from them.
Best shop around in my experience. Well worth the 18 miles each way for me to go there.

I’ve never had a problem per se here, but I’ll put it this way. It’s worth your money and time to go another 15 minutes to Brookdale Cycle in Bloomfield. Everything’s more expensive at Cycle Craft. Of course, Cycle Craft does have a larger selection, especially of those higher-​end goodies. But here’s a comparison: a standard tune-​up costs $ 92 and takes 1 week at Cycle Craft. At Brookdale, it’s $ 60 and 1 day. That makes the choice clear to me.

The staff is very helpfull. I was able to test drive 2 Cannondale’s I’m interested in buying promptly upon arrival (I had prior communication via email).
No sales push, very relaxed experience. They were not willing to negotiate price on those bikes though… I’m not done with my homework yet (I have to check what other bike makers are offering, Fuji is looking good) and might still buy from them.

I like these guys…
I have a Campy equipped Pinarello road bike (which seems rare around these parts) and these guys took very good care of it… They tuned my entire drivetrain, installed a new rear derailler and even lifted my aero bars (on special request)…Most local bike shops would just gawk over the bike, but these guys knew how to handle it…
I am thoroughly impressed with their professionality and capabilities… The made valuable suggestions on ride position, equipment and even referred some more advanced questions to other collegues… Most salesmen would just make up an answer…
I will be bringing my bikes here from now on…

awesome bike shop! went there on a saturday and they were busy. I looked around and eventually Lou came to help me out and pick a bike that met my needs in my price range. He suggested a few and told me the differences between them, never pushing the most expensive one on me. He also helped me with a bunch of accessories. I took a test ride in the back and bought my bike that day. It was well worth the drive out there and I’ll be back again in the future for servicing (they give you a couple coupons for at least 2−3yrs worth of tune ups with the purchase of a bike). Reasonable prices, friendly knowledgable staff, great selection. What more could you ask for.

Excellent selection, knowledge and service. I have bought over 10 bikes here over the years!
