This had to be one of the worst Chinese meals I’ve had… ever. The soup I started with was pretty much tasteless, the egg roll was a dripping, greasy mess and the chicken dish I had as an entrée was awful… The chicken was of poor quality… chewy and rubbery in texture and the brown rice was not cooked properly… short grained and crispy. The atmosphere is tired and worn and I noticed several areas of disrepair and damage… water stains on ceiling tiles, areas of damage on walls… If the dining room looks like this, I can only imagine the cleanliness of the kitchen. I would definitely not return to this establishment.

My family and I used to go here every. single. weekend. for several years. Then the owner changed and we stopped going. She was insane and rude. We’ve recently starting going again because we missed their food. If you know what to order, the food is indeed excellent. I’m Cantonese myself and I’ve tried the gamut of Cantonese cuisine, from Chinatown in Manhattan, to Ctown in Queens, to Brooklyn, to San Francisco, etc. This place rates high on authenticity and freshness. We became veterans because all 3 servers who work there(Tony, Michael, and some dude whose name I never learned) treat us like gods. Um, I mean, we became regulars and they do well by us. Constant friendly banter and free desserts. Yes, I’ve seen the staff talk briskly to other customers in a way that seems rude and almost angry, but I sometimes think that a lot of that impression is mostly a certain punctuated and curt manner of speech that broken English unfortunately conveys. And yes, there are certain cultural differences that I’ve seen across all ethnicities where natives are too easily offended by «outsiders». Give them a chance. Walk in emitting positivity and maybe the good vibes alone can transcend the language/cultural barriers.

The restaurant was empty with only one other table occupied at one pm. Waiter was in a rush to get our order in. Soup was served cold and when I asked for them to reheat it, he replied, «the bowl is hot.» Well, sir, the soup was not. We had to ask several times for things to be brought to the table, i.e. lemon. The wait staff was curt and appeared put out by having to bring us lemon and reheat the soup, but I do have to say that the food was good. Jaspers was my choice of Chinese restaurant for years but I think it is time to find another favorite.

good for family style dinners. they have the traditional banquet style dishes such as grand marnier shrimp, cantonese lobster, pork chop, etc. the house t bone is delicious and tender. the beef chow fun has wok hay to it and the bean sprouts gives it texture. if you like crispy chicken this is the place for it. the skin is thin and crispy almost peeled away from the meat served with shrimp chips. the fried tofu on the banquet menu is also very good. the tofu cubes are crispy but soft and soaks up the soy ginger sauce well. the place is generally not too crowded which makes it comfortable to dine. noise level is low so you can have a conversation and they are one of the few chinese places with a bar if you want to enjoy a drink. because they have a bar they will charge you a cork fee if you bring your own.

The food was ok. I have stir fried fish with Chinese vegetables and steamed dumplings for my son. I was given the typical house soup which you find in Chinatown which was a pleasant surprise as no other Chinese restaurant in jersey does this. My gripe is with the waiter who was serving us. Long story short after the meal was done and I paid the bill he came back and demanded more of a tip. Hey kept saying I only gave him 10 percent but it was more like 13 to 14 percent. I usually round my bill amounts with the tip so it doesn’t always exactly come out to 15 percent. He wouldn’t let it go. So I gave him an extra dollar and told the other guy who I think was running the restaurant at that time that I would never come back and I won’t. The waiter was rude and should be fired for that. I’ll never come back to this place…

This place serves pretty good Cantonese style Chinese food. This place is cleaner than noodle chu and still have the old style of having linen on the tables. I came here with my mother, Boo Boo and Boo Boo’s younger brother. The place had a private party at the big room and service was very slow. Our dinner was over almost 2 hours long. We ordered a whole mess of food which included ‘twin lobster’ for $ 40 bucks, a t-bone steak, half a chicken, and veggies. They were nice. they comped us the soda… If you are asian/chinese you get pickled radish and carrots. If you are not, you get fried wonton skins and duck sauce. I don’t think we will ever be back here.

Absolutely the worst Cantonese food I’ve had in ages. The wonton soup was inedibly salty & watery-bad broth from a can. Shrimp in lobster sauce was salty & peppery –just not tasty. Shrimp at least were nice size, albeit rubbery. Egg roll was pure cabbage. Was looking for old fashioned comforting Chinese food and found none here. Will never return.

Our friend told us about this place being authentic chinese food. We ordered multiple dishes and the service was impeccable. The lobster with ginger and scallions was outstanding. I had roasted duck and it was chewy with some pieces but altogether good for the price. General Tso’s chicken and the eggplant dishes were delicious. We had a very good experience eating here.

The lobster was incredible. It was plenty for one hungry patron.$ 25. The seating is cozy and always at a round table because they serve everything family style. There’s complementary wantons which were addicting. We asked for a table with a lazy Suzan making sharing easy. Bathrooms were clean. Parking was plenty. They serve liquor but the misspelled drinks stopped me from ordering.

A strong Cantonese place. The chefs offered us a complimentary beef broth to whet the appetite. As for the main dishes, the stewed beef with bone attachments with daikon radish was rather palatable: a richness of flavor that has seeped into the meat mixed with the variety of textures. The dried beef chow fun noodles(rice noodles) maintained a strong chewable texture while not being overly salty. We also ordered a fish dish with yu choy veggies. The fish maintained its heat properly, and the yu choy seemed rather tender. Beijing pork chops were very tender — very flavorful, balancing sweet and salty. The wait staff was extremely helpful; recommending better items while steering us away from less fresh foods.

Got a groupon for $ 30 and got 3 dishes to go. This restaurant doesn’t scrimp on quantity. Ordering was easy — called 15 minutes before picking up and got there, paid for the food at the bar area(~$.40 for taxes) and was on my merry way. — Chicken & Eggplant w. Garlic Sauce 魚香茄子雞 $ 8.95 very oily but lots of chicken and eggplant. Pretty good. –Shredded Beef w. Jalapeño Hot Pepper 小辣椒牛肉絲 $ 9.95 My favorite out of the 3. This was flavorful, spicy and just in general really good. I used this to complement my noodles after mixing in some«lao gan ma» chili sauce and it was delicious with some blanched green bean sprouts. If i go back to this restaurant again, i’d get this dish. — Chicken Lo Mein 各式撈麵(Large) $ 6.50 Again a bit oily but there was a lot of it. — 2 egg rolls $ 1.50 each With these 3 dishes, I was able to eat 6 meals(I cooked extra rice and also used some of the dishes with noodle). Although it was pretty tasty(though oily — i must sound like a broken record), I think there probably is a lot of MSG.

Good food and good service. Food too long to come out, but overall it was good. I had living social coupon so it made even better. 3 of us. We had seafood pan fried noodles, pork chop, Chinese vegetables, fish dish and they gave us soup, picked vegetables, tea, brown rice and orange. All the food were good. Portion was good too. Plenty of leftover for next day. No complaints here.

Came here yesterday for Father’s day. I can’t say that I was a fan of how long it took all the food to get out(even though it was expected to take longer since it was Father’s day). But the people at Jasper’s sat us really quick. One of the waiters also advised my mom on taking advantage of a pretty good deal and I was definitely a fan of that. The best dish of the night was the zhing dou pai guat this red sauced pork dish. We all ended up leaving with a full stomach and saved a lot of money.

We came here once for dinner. We went with people who regularly eat here so the service was really good. The food quality and quantity were also very good. I would not hesitate to eat here again if the food quality remained consistent with what I ate that day.

Been here quite often. There’s only so many Chinese restaurants in the area and once you’ve exhaust those four or five options, you end up being regulars at them all. The food here has been okay at best. Jasper’s been through several management and employee changes. I used to think that service was this restaurant was its brighter point, but once my favorite waiter moved on, it’s never been the same.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while on the road to Scranton. Typical American Style Chinese lunch menu. Today I opted for the House Lo Mien. Hot and Sour Soup was OK, similar to every other pseudo Cantonese style restaurant I’ve been to. While I’m finishing up my soup, who walks into the restaurant and sits at the table next to me but Sadie and Muriel. Sadie: Ya know Gil’s still has the bladder infection. Muriel: Oh, that’s terrible Sadie: So true. They have him on an antibiotic and then they want to put a camera up there and scrape the sides of his bladder. We’re going to Malta over Christmas so he’s going to have it in January. Muriel: Where’s Malta? Sadie: It’s near Italy. He doesn’t want to go but I already booked the airline and hotel. So there. Nice discussion to prep me for my lunch. Dish was OK, nothing special. Service good and the prices are pretty cheap for lunch.

wish i knew how to do 2.5 stars this is a chinese resturant that has a bar almost fine dining –nice quiet place to date, or have a nice dinner or lunch not loud like most chinese resturants… the food is mediocre… had winter melon soup very fishy, not too fresh… the other dishes were standard… the best thing is the quiet clean environment if you like chinese food and want almost a fine dining experience. waiters are not really rude as others say they just are very busines like… they are usually very helpful although english is not their 1st language

This restaurant does serve some authentic delicious Chinese food. I’ve only eaten authentic Chinese dishes there, which have mostly been very good. The meat dishes(chicken, beef) are very tender and seafood tastes fresh and flavorful. You can also get their food to go. If you get Michael as your server, he’s great. The other guy, he’s just rude.

Typical Chinese food served for an American clientele, Jasper is overpriced and nothing special. The waiter was a bit curt when we asked him questions about the menu(in Chinese). We ended up ordering the Singapore noodles, pork ribs, and spicy beef. The meal came with soup, which had a strange green color and did not taste Chinese at all; it kind of tasted like a chicken noodle soup. The Singapore noodles were very oily, but the pork ribs and spicy beef dises were okay. The entire meal was expensive and not much better than your typical Chinese takeout.
