John Harms is President and CEO of Millennium Systems International. He has been designing leading software in the beauty industry since 1987. John’s «hands-​on» approach has allowed him to learn what the industry really needs to run their businesses more effectively. Besides software development, John enjoys educating businesses on key growth indicators and how technology can be more than a front desk tool. In 2004, John was awarded one of the Top 40 Entrepreneurs under the age of 40 (TOP 40 UNDER 40) by NJ Business Magazine. I have used Millennium for several years, and at first, I was intimidated by the amount of reports, functions, and security it offered. I was certain the training would be too intense, and take up too much time to be worth the effort. Once I viewed the initial webinar, I soon realized how intuitive each section of the software had been laid out, and I really appreciate that I have a training version of the program on my desktop to use for new employees.
I really take advantage of the reports, and like that I can pull up virtually any statistic related to my business in a flash. It goes far beyond the usual client retention, service/​sales ratio, and retail prices per ticket that I had come to expect. I can look at every aspect of client patterns, employee sales, front desk productivity, and just about any fact or figure you can imagine.
Most importantly, their tech support team seem to genuinely care about their clients. When a contractor working in the building adjacent to mine cut wires that disconnected our Internet and shorted out many of our electronics, Millennium worked diligently with our IT employee, plus they kept checking up on us to make sure thing were moving along quickly. I really appreciate their caring attitude and diligence.

Really top notch company. Excellent customer service. We currently use Millennium in our salon, Remote Business, and MillenniumGo App. After updating our iPad to iOS 9 the app wasn’t compatable yet. The people at Millennium worked extra hard to fix the issue. They also did a great job following up to make sure we were taken care of. I’m really impressed! Keep up the great work!

they give you a crash course on how to use the system. Then charge you every time you need help. have used other systems before. this one does not come close to being as good and they will over charge you for everything.

Over the past 11 years, I have utilized Millennium in the growth and coaching of over 56 stylists, assistants and salon coordinators. With each new employee, Millennium is there almost every step of the way either training new employees on the software (saving me ample time) or helping to set up training modules for easy reference during training. I never wait long for any type of assistance, Harms is reachable in a multitude of ways, their online community, email or phone. I can suggest or request new features that actually help me in my day to day, they really listen to their user base and find ways to improve just for us. I have been very fortunate to attend several of the User Conferences/​Experiences and find that EVERY time I go, I bring back new information or new ways to do the things that we already do. You can get other information year round from the whole team as well as its network of professionals. I read blogs and log in on the community site to see what others have going on and get feedback on my own ideas. Harms is never far from reach and they are always friendly. I was given the choice of any software that I wanted, I chose Millennium and have never regretted it. Year after year, I seek a contender and have not found software as comparable. In an industry that is forever changing, Harms is keeping up in a major way and seeping with information on all platforms in order to service their customers.

Do not buy hardware from Millennium! You can save almost 50% by buying from Amazon. If something goes wrong it is like pulling teeth to get them to fix a problem. They gave up a $ 1,000 sale by forcing me to pay shipping to return a defective brand new cash drawer, senseless adherence to rules. Their first suggestion was to have my employees hold the cash drawer in their laps while we sent the defective item out for repair. I am a new user so I cannot comment on the software yet. All their tech support has been very polite and helpful with software issues, just buy your printers and other devices elsewhere. Millennium could learn a few things about customer service from Amazon.

It’s such a surprise for me to read how easy it is use the software. That has not been our experience. We’ve been forced to hire people that are extremely knowledgeable and curious to be able to use the Millennium software. As a techie, I can certainly get my way around this software fairly easily at this point. The point remains that it takes us at least 12 clicks of the mouse just to send a text message confirmation request. How is that easy? This is just one example of many…
We recently purchased the online booking module. We soon realized that it could not meet our needs. The client can only register on a computer and not on a smartphone. Macs are not supported and they must download Silverlight for it to function. Once the account is registered, the online booking interface via the smartphone is quite nice. But to get to that point, you’ve already lost your client.
We decided to return the booking module. The contract clearly states that the Return Policy is 60 days if we are not fully satisfied. We received a phone call letting us know that this does not include add-​ons. The question remains why not simply state that the software is non-​refundable. That’s simply sleazy and disingenuous.
Bottom line is that this software takes up a great deal of time to set up and to train. It is NOT intuitive by any means. Customer support is sometimes great, sometimes not. You can do much better than this arcane interface.

I have had Harms Software in my Business for 4 years now. I have never experienced any problems with the software itself. Any problems were with data that was entered by staff that was incorrect or entered in the wrong place. I have always been treted with the utmost politeness from the techs when I have called for help. Great Job Harms… keep on leading our industry.

We have been with HARMS Software since the «Salon Solutions» days! It was in 1997 that we first learned about their company… We were one of their 1st larger single location accounts… We grew together, I recall several enhancement requests that we shared, that were applied! It was great to work with a company that was willing to really listen to their customers… In all the years we have been running their software, there was only 1 instance of a severe data issue. They were there & got us back online in less than 3 hours…
When the internet came about, we pushed John Harms to look for an online booking solution…@ first he was not a believer… but in time he did realize that clients would like this option & he again listened… Wallah! .Net came to life… We can’t wait for the new release of their software… We are a huge supporter of their product, brand & company.
