Gene Martin Salon

This is the best place I have gone to get my hair done by far. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. I had Caroline do my hair and she was wonderful. She did an incredible job. I had red hair and the salon artist did it horribly. Caroline spent a lot of time fixing it and getting it to where I wanted it to be. She is wonderful and I would definitely recommend her.

I recently moved to the Pasadena area and desperately needed to find a new salon. I came across this salon and asked for a consultation, the front desk recommended Jackie. I came in later that day and we went over everything I liked and disliked a few days later I came back for my appointment. Jackie did the best job on my hair than anyone has ever done before! The color was absolutely beautiful as well as the cut. She did everything to perfection I wanted to go a lighter with my hair and get a shoulder length bob and it’s the best my hair has ever looked! Definitely recommed this salon and Jackie!

Just left with a great haircut. I have always had Gene cut my hair but because of the short notice I was scheduled with Jackie. She was just adorable and so nice! She did a great job and made me feel so comfortable!

I’d give Gene Martin salon 10 stars if I could! I live in Northern California, but have family down south and schedule my hair cuts and color around my trips to see them. I’ve been doing this for years and friends think I’m crazy for traveling 6 hours for my hair. Well, I’m not crazy. I’m smart. I always love how Gene or Bernie do my hair. I’ve never said, «it will grow» or «maybe in a couple of weeks it will look better». Sometimes, my trips just don’t happen and my hair really needs some attention, so I look on Unilocal and find a hairstylist close by. They are always OK. When you’ve been to the best, you just can’t be satisfied with anyone else. So, I’m here again because my hair needs attention and my daughter and I flew into Burbank and are making a weekend of it. I’m so excited to be getting my hair done in the morning. My treat to me.

To be clear my review isn’t the aftermath of how my hair «re-​growth». I have not had the chance to post the review for this salon when I got it done a few months ago.
Nonetheless, when I got the groupon for cut/​color I expected my hair to be lifted since my hair on top is black and the hair on the bottom is bleached previously.
To reiterate from my last review, the stylist did not lift my hair and just put color over my hair stating it would look more umbre. Again I asked if my hair would be bleached on top so my hair color would be even.

I loved the service I received from Caroline Rincon at this salon. I generally let my hair go natural, and the cut she gave me suited my curls perfectly! Of course it was nice to also get the full styling that I hardly do on my own. She was a great listener and gave me exactly what I wanted. Would recommend her to everyone!

I am so disappointed …
I bought a Groupon to have a haircut and a color at Gene Martin Salon and I was very excited because the reviews are great.
Unfortunately, after several emails and messages, I never had an answer. I had to write to Groupon and despite their efforts, I never had some news from the salon.
If you don’t want to welcome customers who bought one Groupon, stop your partnership with them.

Caroline is the best! I’ve only patronized her twice, but already I feel like she completely understands what I want and how to work with my difficult hair! I’m so glad I picked her!

Pretty nice salon, the whole staff is polite. They have a good selection of hair care. I had gone to Rachel, and Bryce both were pretty good hair stylists. I preferred Bryce because Rachel had always wanted to do what she wanted and not what I had been paying her for, it wasn’t anything drastic so it’s not like I was asking for too much.
Bryce did an amazing job and hit the hammer on the nail with my hair. Really recommend asking for Bryce! especially for highlighting
If u don’t mind spending a few extra bucks. Come here

I received a call from the owner, asking me to come back in so he can make things right. I appreciate that. I am not due for anything at the moment but I did book an appointment for the future. I will see how that goes, but for now he gets high marks for trying to make good.

Love! It was my first time at this salon and my first time getting a Brazilian Blowout. I scheduled an appointment with Caroline and she was everything and more I could have hoped for in a stylist. She was super kind and very honest about my hair and the treatment. After about 5 minutes, it felt like I was just talking to a good friend. The treatment took about 2 hours and I am in love with the results!!! I’m planning to go back for my next one in 3 months.

Just got a much needed cut and color with Caroline. She is just amazing! She is not only personable and sweet but she also did such a fabulous job! I was so impressed with how they were able to book me the same day. Salon had a great ambiance and with staff like that, you can never go wrong. If you’re coming to this salon, book with Caroline! She is amazing! I searched and searched for a stylist in the area that specialized in blondes, found her on Unilocal,took the chance, and was so pleasantly surprised! She always makes time for her clients and her prices won’t break your bank like most stylists these days! The best part about coming to see her is that our conversations are as if we have known eachother forever! Now that I found her, I am keeping her! Highly recommend her!

Caroline is mai gurrl! We have been together for some time now and whether it’s a Brazilian Blowout or time for my color touch up I know she’s got me… She is literally the third person to ever touch my curly hair and I trust her completely. The salon is super clean, everyone is really nice and perhaps best of all I have a glass of wine waiting for me when I arrive!

Caroline is the best! Sweet, wonderful person, always have great conversations and of course she is an excellent hair stylist! I keep going back for more! She truly cares about what YOU want for your hair– and won’t do anything to compromise that.
Last time I went in, our conversation seriously inspired me to change a part of my life and focus on what makes me happy — and I have been so much happier since! She is such a jem, and cares not only about your hair, but about you as a person. So happy I found her!

Gene, of Gene Martin Salon, has done my hair since 1983! As someone with VERY curly hair, I can say that Gene knows what to do… with my «do». Over the years, several of my friends/​family members have switched to this salon. We are consistently pleased with our hairdo experiences provided by Gene, & his wonderful staff.

Had my first trip to the salon today, and it was incredible. Rachel gave me exactly what I wanted and talked to me beforehand to make sure everything would be perfect. She listened to everything I had to say and offered tips as well. My hair came out absolutely gorgeous, thanks to her.
The quality is incredible, the price was low, and the customer service was amazing. She sent me home with some sample products to use on my own hair, recommended a specific spray for exactly the texture I was looking for, and talked to me about how I could recreate the style at home. She got rid of all the dead bits without leaving it too short. I only have positive things to say about Rachel and this salon! Can’t wait to come back!

This salon is amazing! My hair stylist is Caroline Rincon and she is even more AH-​MA-​ZING with hair! The first time she did my hair, she made me feel completely comfortable with what she was going to do, she knew what she was talking about and my hair came out better than I expected! My hair was completely fried and looked pretty bad, and she nursed it back to health. My hair is now healthy, it looks great, it feels so smooth and soft.
If you’re looking for a salon to go to that will do a great job, that won’t make you worry about what will happen to your hair, a salon that has incredible stylists, then this is the place to go! You won’t walk out of their door feeling just «okay», you’ll walk out feeling great about your look! I truly recommend the salon and Caroline!

Used to just go to Fantastic Sams for the cheap cuts, but I always got what I paid for: poor results. I found out about this salon from a friend, and ever since haven’t found the need to look for a new salon. The setup is great & the staff is friendly & attentive to your needs.
Caroline, by the way, is a fantastic stylist. We did a cut, color, & Brazilian blowout in less time than I would’ve imagined & I could not be more pleased! Plus her easygoing manner makes the time fly by! And did I mention she does an awesome shampoo massage?! It’s this kind of service that makes me happy to drive all the way from Orange County!
